Mission Statement We, the faith community of St. Colette, in proclaiming the truth of the Gospel are committed to follow Jesus Christ by being ”the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world”. By our Baptism we are called to serve people of all cul-tures, migrants, and those who have no voice of their own; our born and unborn children; victims of violence, and the impoverished. Empowered by the Holy Spirit and nurtured by the Eucharist, we are led to promote human dignity and justice for all people. We believe that this is the way the Lord is calling us to be a sign of His kingdom in this time and place.

A WORD FROM THE ADMINISTRATOR HOLY WEEK

Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Night Watch of the Resurrection or Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday Night form the time known as Holy Week. It is also known as the Easter Triduum (Three Days). This is the height of our Liturgical Calendar in which is set the great jewel of the Climax of our year, the Easter Vigil. It is not too soon to speak of these very special celebra-tions because they speak to the heart of our faith. Christ, the Son of God, in the person of Jesus sat down for a Passover dinner with Apostles that was to be transformed into the Eucharist we celebrate. A ritual meal given by God to the Israelites Passover commem-orates their being freed from the Angel of Death and slavery in Egypt to enjoy the freedom of live with their saving God in their own land. In Jesus it has become for us a means by which his suffering, death and resur-rection is made present before our very eyes in sacra-mental signs, and the Apostles are ordained to ensure that this new “Passover” our Eucharist can be celebrat-ed throughout the ages. With sadness and hope we commemorate the Passion and Death of Our Lord on Good Friday. It is the only day of the year when we may not celebrate Eucharist. It is the day the God-Man Jesus demonstrated the pro-found and eternal love of our God for us. In this great act of Love, Love itself promised to share our suffer-ings even as he gives us life. After the sun has set on Saturday evening, we begin the Easter Vigil with the lighting of the Paschal Can-dle, the light that will lead us into the church. This symbol of the presence of the risen Christ enlightens our world that night as we listen to the history of God’s plan of salvation, and our history as God’s people in the readings from the Old Testament and New Testa-ment. Then we renew our Baptismal Vows and wel-come new members of the Body of Christ through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Com-munion. We share as God’s people in the great gift of Eucharist at the beginning of the new age of Easter, Resurrection and Life. Some practical notes: These celebrations are of spe-cial significance should be celebrated with great care, reverence, and piety. Please note that this year there will be only one celebration for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. In respect of the advancing age and diminishing vigor of the principle celebrant and his desire to be able to give proper due to each cel-ebration, some adjustment to the schedule was neces-sary.

Fr. Brian Simpson Administrator of St. Colette Parish

Divine Mercy Sunday On the Sunday after Easter, the entire Church throughout the world is called to gather to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. Pope John Paul established this special celebration of God’s mercy on the day in the year 2000 he canonized Sister Mary Faustina of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. Sr. Faustina had been blessed with apparitions of Jesus who showed himself to her in a special way as “Divine Mercy”. According to her diary, the Sunday after Easter, or the “Octave Sunday” of the Easter celebration was to be a special day of invitation to approach Jesus with great trust and expectant faith. The upcoming Easter celebration allows us to focus on performing works of mercy, and spending more time in prayer. Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Novena to the Divine Mercy are helpful ways of doing so. Here at St. Colette we will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday beginning at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. The service will include, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Sr. Faustina would regularly celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation the Saturday before this Sunday. Reconciliation is available every Saturday (except Holy Saturday) at 9:00 a.m.

The site allows you to make a one time or automatically repeating payments on a schedule that works best for you, using any credit card, debit card or electronic bank account. We believe that having a flexible online giving option will make it easier for many of you to support St. Colette. Visit our website at www.stcolette.org and

click on the “GiveCentral” link or go to ww.GiveCentral.org

and take a couple minutes to set up your do-nations.
