Grassroots Giving

• No Paper Trail• Unions cannot obtain tax deductions for

charitable donations. Individual locals give out cash to various community groups and charities and this money is not tracked by either the Federation of Labour or the CRA.

• Estimates from the BC Federation of Labour is that thousands of dollars are likely given in this manner with no reporting mechanism in place.

Three Questions to Ask before you approach unions for support

• 1. Is the mission of your organization compatible with Labour?

• 2. Is there anything about your specific ask that may be incompatible with Labour?

• 3.What is the current labour situation in your workplace or in the corporate workplace?
