Lacrosse requires speed, stamina, endurance and great hand-eye coordination. Each skill below involves playing with the ball.

Lacrosse was “created” by the Native Americans. It was used to:

•Train young boys to become warriors

•As a way to settle tribal disputes

Rules

There are many rules to lacrosse. Below are three important ones:

2. You may not trip a player with your stick

3. Players must wear protective helmets and gloves

3. Players can run with the ball in their stick as far as they want

Great Players

There have been many great lacrosse players since the sport was invented. Few people know that Wayne Gretsky and Jim Brown were both excellent lacrosse players before going on to glory in other sports.

Remember to catch the ball like it is an egg! When the ball hits the stick - give a little and it will stop in your pocket.

Scooping is how you pick the ball up off the ground. Always keep TWO hands on your stick when you scoop.

Remember to keep the stick straight up and down when you pass.

Mark Millon is one of the best goal scorers in lacrosse history. He was named the World’s Best Attackman at the 1998 World Games.

Gary Gait is the “Michael Jordan” of lacrosse. He is arguably the best player ever.
