WELCOME FROM THE PRESIDENTDr. Devin Stephenson became President of Three Rivers College on July 1, 2009. Since that time, the college has experienced a 50 percent growth in enrollment and is recognized as one of the fastest growing community colleges in the United States. Three Rivers serves its more than 4,600 students with its Poplar Bluff campus, five full-service centers, numerous teaching sites and online courses. Under Dr. Stephenson’s leadership, Three Rivers is The Community College of Southeast Missouri.

Dr. Stephenson has worked to expand college programs and services through partnerships with business, education, and community groups; securing external grants totaling almost $20 million; and accepting more than $3 million in donations of real estate and facilities. Dr. Stephenson is currently leading a $16 million capital campaign to raise funds for the construction of new facilities on the college’s Poplar Bluff campus and new Eastern Campus in Sikeston.

Dr. Stephenson is a graduate of Walker High School in Jasper, Ala. He earned an Associate of Science degree from Walker Junior College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Birmingham-Southern College, and master’s and doctoral degrees in the Administration of Higher Education from the University of Alabama.

He has more than 30 years of experience in community college education in Alabama and Missouri. He is a peer evaluator with both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Higher Learning Commission accrediting agencies.

Dr. Stephenson is actively involved in the community. He is a member of the board of directors of the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, and Poplar Bluff Boys and Girls Club. He is a member of the Missouri Community College Presidents and Chancellors Council; and a Commissioner with the American Association of Community College’s Commission for Marketing and Advancement.

In 2011, he was the winner of the Missouri Governor’s E3 award for Excellence in Education, Employment, and Economic Development. He is a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy and has been recognized for contribution of service to the Alabama College System Public Relations Association, the Alabama College System Deans of Student Affairs Association, and the All-Alabama Academic Team Foundation Board. He also is a GMA Dove Award Finalist.

Dr. Stephenson is a sought after consultant on strategic planning and organizational effectiveness, and speaker on Leadership and Emotional Intelligence. Additionally, he is a classically trained pianist and has released three recording projects to support student scholarships.

Dr. Stephenson’s wife, Judy, works with him to promote and support Three Rivers. They have two children.

Dr. Angela Totty joined the Three Rivers College administration on August 1, 2012 as the Vice President for Student Success and as such is the Senior Athletic Administrator. Totty holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership and a specialist’s degree in com-munity college administration from Arkansas State University. In addition to working with the athletic program, Totty is responsible for student success and retention, as well as oversight of the Bess Student and Activity Centers, financial aid, admissions, recruit-ment, student housing, public safety, campus activities and more.Totty has looked forward to being involved in the athletic programs and has quickly become a Raider fan. “I have been very impressed with the level of integrity of the athletes who are dedicated to their education as well as investing in the sport they love. It is encouraging to see the level of involvement throughout the community for our college and for our athletic programs.”

Totty is excited to be a part of the vision that is moving the college forward and a part of the Poplar Bluff com-munity. Totty, her husband, Steve, and sons, Caleb and Morgan, have joined Westwood Baptist Church and are looking forward to being more involved in the community. Totty’s oldest son, Reece, is a student at Arkansas State University-Beebe.

HEAD WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACHJEFF WALK

Jeff Walk began his coaching career in 1987 at Twin Rivers High School in Broseley, MO. While coaching there, he had an overall record of 356 wins with a .653 winning percentage. He also won nine district cham-pionships and advanced to the quarterfinals once during his tenure at Twin Rivers. Coach Walk achieved three conference championships and three conference tournament championships while playing in the Ozark Foothills Conference, one of the toughest conferences in Southeast Missouri. He is entering his fifth season as head coach of the Lady Raiders. He was Coach of the Year in 2011. The Lady Raiders have brought in an outstanding recruiting class this season and are very excited about this year’s team!

He and his wife Robin live in Poplar Bluff where they raised their daughter, Jordanna.

ASSISTANT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACHSHERONDA POWELL

Sheronda Powell joins the Three Rivers College coaching staff as an assistant women’s basketball coach. She is a former Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach for Macomb Community College and assistant coach and junior varsity head coach for Concordia University in Ann Arbor. She also received a short stint as head coach for Trinity College in Washington, D.C., and has played professional women’s basketball in China and Spain.

She is a native of Detroit, Mich., and a graduate of Detroit Cass Technical High School. Powell also was an assistant coach and head junior varsity coach at Detroit Country Day School where the Lady Jackets were three-time Class “B” State Champions during her tenure. Prior to this transition, she was the assistant coach at Southwestern High School, where they were District Champions, the highest honor for the school in thirteen years.

Sheronda Powell was also a graduate assistant coach at Wayne State University. Her team had its best season in fifteen years. With the most impressive showing in the GLIAC Women’s Basketball Conference, her team earned the honors of conference runners-up.

Powell’s college years include being a four-year letter winner and starter in women’s bas-ketball at Michigan State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 1993. Entering the 1992-93 season, Powell was for the the second time in her career, the Spartans’ All-American candidate selection, but she missed the completion of her senior season due to a knee injury. She finished with 968 career points and over 60 career rebounds in only ten games as a senior, and led MSU all three seasons in field goals with a career 54 conversion percentage. Powell served as the Spartans’ co-captain her junior and senior seasons. Her three previous seasons were filled with honors.

Powell was born August 1, 1971. She and her husband, Aaron, reside in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
