The Lady Rams take a moment to embrace their experience at the Wells Fargo Center.

This year’s Girls’ Basketball Team consists of twenty hard work-ing players. The senior captains are Lyndsay Micucci, Alix Vansciver, Liz Zwick, and Kelli George. The captains have a goal of going into the third round of the playoffs. As they continue to work hard, the team gets stronger, which will ultimately get them closer to their goal. This year the team held their own winter tournament and named it the Pop Vernon Winter Classic.

The four teams that competed in the two day tournament were Salem, Haddon Heights, Cherry Hill West, and Riverside. Riverside came in second place losing to Haddon Heights. Besides achieving second place in the winter tournament, the girls also enjoyed a once in a lifetime chance to play at the Wells Fargo Center. They played on the 76’ers home court-against Moorestown. With over 50 students attending this game, a fan bus was supplied for stu-dents. When the girls entered the arena,

you could see the excitement on their faces. 76’ers players, Joel Em-biid and KJ Mc-Daniels, came out to watch the girls play for part of the game and this was an honor for all participating in the game. After the game, Captains Lyndsay Mi-cucci and Alix Vansciver, had a chance to have an interview with a reporter. Follow-ing the game, players and many supporters went

over to Comcast Xfinity Live and ate dinner. After dinner, it was time for the 76’ers game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The game was exciting and the entire experience was one that will be remembered by all in attendance.

Focusing after break is pretty tough, but it is a must! Being on break is fun and relaxing, but you have to get right back into the swing of things. All you have to do is go back to school prepared and ready. If you left before break organized, then you should come back and not feel too flustered. The first week back is long and you usually have a lot to do, but if you manage your time right and focus, it’s easy to get back to it. The teachers will usually review anything that hap-pened before break so you can refresh your memory. If you forget anything they don’t review, ask them to help you and they will go over it again, either with you or with the class. You should always look over your notes and review what you went over before break to go back fully prepared as well. Once you go over your notes and listen to your teachers’ reviews, you should be all caught up and ready for the rest of the year.

Student Spotlight by Danny Heston

In my opinion, one of the greatest men to ever step foot in Riverside High School is Austin Jacobs, also known as “Beanz” or “Beanzuz”. Austin is an aspiring rapper with an album in the making titled Beanz & Nightmares. The album has been in the making since Beanz’s freshman year and it is yet to have a set release date because of how much hard work has been put into it. When asked about his album, Beanz commented “keep it a bean.” Aside from his stunning looks, his ability to captivate a room, and his absolutely flawless hair, Austin Jacobs is actually a regular person like you and I. It may be difficult to fathom, but believe it or not Austin is actually employed at the Merion located on Rt.130. Anything they need done there Austin can do. He is a multi-talented person that can take on any task he is given. With the athleticism comparable to a gazelle, Austin can play any sport he desires, but with lacking competition in the area he decides not to play. He said “It just wouldn’t be fair.” Many compare him to the modern day Jesus, but refer to him as Beanzuz.

Restaurant Review by Kacey Stratton

Chili’s Bar & Grill was founded in 1975 by Larry Levine in Dallas, Texas. Currently owned by Brinker Internation-al, it is a worldwide restaurant with over 1500 locations. The closest location is in Delran. Chili’s serves American food influenced by Tex-Mex foods. Aside from their regular menu, they have a nutritional menu, an allergen menu, and a vegetarian menu. Chili’s is a casual dining restau-rant with a wide variety of good food. From all of the times that I have been there, I can honestly say that I have rarely had a bad experience. The service has always been great and the food is even better. I would definitely recom-mend going to Chili’s for a night out with family or friends.

Movie Review by Kacey Stratton

Staff Spotlight by Kyleigh Snow

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is the third and final movie in the Night at the Museum Series. This movie starred Ben Stiller, Ricky Gervais, Owen Wilson, and Robin Williams. When the museum exhibits start acting strange, Larry Daley, the old night guard, must figure out what’s causing it. After discovering that the tablet is decaying, he and a few of the live exhibits need to travel to London to fix it. I thought this was a good continuation and ending to the whole storyline. I really liked the main char-acters and how they have progressed since the first movie. I found myself entertained throughout the entire movie. I would definitely recommend watching this if you’re looking for a nice family movie.

Toward the end of 2014, two big games came out and took social media by storm. Trivia Crack is an addicting game that has continued to be popular into the new year. This is not your normal bubble pop game. It challenges your knowledge by asking you ba-sic questions in History, Science, Geography, En-tertainment, Art, and Sports. There is also a chance to earn crowns. You can play against your friends online, Facebook friends, or random op-ponents. So far,

Trivia Crack is the #1 downloaded game of 2014-15. Not far behind on the #1 down-loaded list is a game where if you don't use your special powers, you can die. Fun Run 2 is a very competi-tive game between friends. While you race to the finish line you can be bombed, electrocuted, dragged back, punched, and trapped in the claw trapper. As you gain points you can change your avatar or add accessories. With over 10 different race areas, Fun Run 2 is all about who comes out on top. Make sure you download these games to experience the excitement.

Popular Games of the New Year

This year should be an excit-ing one for the Riv-erside Basketball Cheerleaders. With a record twenty-two girls coming out for the team, 2015 should be a success-ful year for them. There are no seniors on the team, therefore there are two junior captains, Simone Weinstein-Hendryx and Madison Stien-mann. The captains have been working hard to teach all the newcomers the

cheers. The girls cheer in between each quarter and are currently pre-paring for their first half time performance. They cheer for both the boys’ and

girls’ basketball teams, when there is a home game. When asked about how she felt about cheering, sophomore Shelby Magnus said “It’s my first year and I already love it! The best part is getting to pump up the team!”

Ms. Gregory started her teaching career this fall, teachingChemistry at RHS. When asked, she said she loved teaching in Riverside and that it was going very well. Her first impression of our school was that it is small, but it was very much like the town she grew up in. Ms. Gregory grew up in Stratford, New Jersey. Due to her pleasant personal-ity, she is very well liked by her students and co-workers. In high school she played soccer, basketball, and softball. After high school, she went to the University of the Sciences in Phila-delphia. Before teaching she was a pharmaceutical technician, but it wasn’t for her and she is excited to be teaching. She is also currently an assistant basketball coach for Sterling High School and tutors kids in math and science. In her free time, she enjoys playing flag football, hanging out with her friends, play-ing with her dog (who is a terrier mix), and going on adventures. She travels a lot and she told me she really enjoyed going to New Mexico and loves going to Michigan as often as she can to see her brother and niece. If you see Ms. Gregory in the hallway make sure to say hello.

SLAM! It’s all Riverside fans are hearing this year, as the wres-tling team has been raking in more wins than ever this year. With a record of 5-7, the team has been doing great this year. Being able to fill the lineup for once has had a huge impact on the team and their wins this year. Although the team is still missing kids at the 180 lb. and 220 lb. weight class, the team is still able to manage a couple wins de-

spite the 12 forfeit points given up at every match. “With four kids at 145lb class we had to bump up two, one at the 152 class and the other to the 160 class. It’s a big difference sometimes, but the kids handle it well,” said Coach Kevin Landolt The River-side Wrestling Team usually is small in numbers and has under 10 kids on the team by the end of the season. This year has proven other-wise, “Many kids

showed up to the first meeting which was a larger turn-out than usual” said Coach Mat-thew Abrams. After sever-al weeks of intense training they were able to find the athletes needed for the team. When Captain Tanner Clifford was asked his thoughts about the team this year, he said “We look more promising than in years past. Overall as a team, we have a solid core group that will help us all year on

the mat.” The other Captain, Kenny Swartz, said “What kills us is numbers, but I would much rather have this team than anything. The kids that show up actually want to. They push them-

selves and keep improving.” The team has a few more tough matches throughout the rest of the season, but they all prove to have the heart and mindset needed to pull out some good

The River-side Boys Basket-ball team is bring-ing it up the court this season! With a record of 6-7, they still have the chance to become the 2015 Freedom Division Champs. The Rams starting line up this year consists of Seniors John Mc-Fadden, DeAndree Little, Sam Guckin, Josh Graham, and Junior Dakota Fen-ton. When asked about the team, Senior Sam Guckin remarked “It’s a good year.” He was also proud to give us feedback about their best game

so far this season which was against Maple Shade. The final score of the game totaled 73 points for Riverside and 62 for Maple Shade. After achiev-ing over a 10 point lead towards the end, they knew the win was in the bag. The lead scorers for the game were Sam Guckin and Dakota Fenton, both scor-ing 18 points. The team sits at the number 2 spot in the division after beating New Egypt and Maple Shade, but suffering a loss from Flor-ence. Still with

a good chance of holding the divi-sion title this year, the team will be heading into a few more tough games to end the season. Dakota Fenton is scoring 11.7 points per game, and mak-ing 2.3 three point shots per game. Just above Dakota and leading the team in stats is Sam Guckin who is averaging 12.4 points per game, and with 67 field goals already made. The Rams will continue to work hard to finish first in their Divi-sion.
