Named for the seasonal winds that sweep over LÂG’s home in southern France, Tramontane guitars reflect centuries of skilled European craftsmanship. This rugged, romantic spirit is captured in every one of our Tramontane guitars, and represented by the elegant Occitan Cross rosette design. Using select tonewoods from India, Africa, and around the globe, each instrument is designed to project both your music and your individual personality. The result is a quality guitar like no other, able to speak with clarity, subtlety, and vigor.

Tramontane guitars feature radial curved bindings that wrap over the edge seams, offering a refined look and superior strength. Unlike traditional classical guitars, our nylon-strung models provide a more compact neck, one that is instantly comfortable for every guitarist. Our acoustic/electric models combine state-of-the-art pickup and preamp designs with old-world construction techniques, delivering a refined instrument that meets today’s demands with spirit and vitality.

America“What a journey I have had, from the rugged, beautiful lands of Bédarieux in the heart of southern France, to the heart of America.”

Driven by a love of life – and the freedom to express oneself – I chose to build guitars that allow others to do the same. Whether writing folk songs, love songs, protest songs, or really any type of song, there is an undeniable connection between the music you make and the place that you come from. That was our goal when we set up LÂG Guitars. To create guitars that perfectly complement what you have to say musically – naturally and honestly. A new approach to design, together with premium quality materials and consummate craftsmanship, means our instruments speak with spellbinding clarity and openness. I have come far on my musical journey, and I invite you to take a piece of me on yours.

Our remarkable STUDIOLÂG systems offer a unique solution to the task of creating a natural and satisfying sound from an acoustic/electric guitar. Developed in conjunction with Shadow electronics, STUDIOLÂG preamps are dazzlingly versatile – yet extremely easy to use. Five easily selected preset tones precisely match the response of the guitar and the pickups to a particular style of playing. How did we do it? Using a pair of highly accurate 31-band equalizers, audio engineers were able to create five dynamic, fantastic-sounding programs, each saved as a purely analog preset in the STUDIOLÂG preamp. This method provides far more exacting control and a far more detailed sound than simple on-board tone controls could ever offer.

The STUDIOLÂG PLUS preamp adds a contour control that proportionally adjusts the overall Treble/Bass tonal shadings of the guitar. The contour control operates even when the Presets are bypassed. A chromatic tuner is also added.

The STUDIOLÂG PRO features the same 5 preset sounds but adds a revolutionary humbucker pickup, the NanoMag. Inserted into the fingerboard, it keeps the real warmth and sound of the wood itself. A Hexaphonic Nanoflex pickup installed under the bridge saddle adds dynamics and precision. The saddle is made of 6 individual inter-connected saddles which have a perfect pressure on each part of the Hexaphonic pickup: 1 pickup per string, totally independent, adjustable on the preamp box by 6 individual trim-pots. each string level can be perfectly adjusted when using special gauge strings or special tunings.

The DIRecTLÂG preamp is highly efficient, user-friendly and very affordable. The exclusive “Dynamics” control brings additional “Mid cut/Mid Boost” adjustment to the traditional Bass & Treble controls. The mids adjustment is very useful on stage because you can easily adapt your own sound to a specific song or to the sound and frequencies of the room itself where you are playing. The Phase switch is also very useful on stage to immediately cut any feedback, and the Mute switch is a must when you need to be absolutely silent.

“Quality requires imagination, time and hard work. Our talented designers and expert technicians constantly strive to avoid stereotypes, and bring refinement and style to the world of the guitar. These carefully crafted designs, sophisticated and harmonious finishes, and new combinations of materials, reveal our true obsession and real concern for beauty.

“For LÂG, the process begins with beautiful and carefully selected woods. extreme care is taken in the cutting process and our precision assembly methods, as well as the drying process, humidity control and stabilization. The bindings and rosette marquetry – including the Occitan cross, a symbol from our area of France – are perfectly matched to the curves and material of the fingerboard, bridge and heel plate, and are globally enhanced by generously profiled body shapes. The electronics are innovative and user-friendly, allowing any musician to find a great guitar sound without being a technician! From French-made Haute couture guitars, to more affordable models, quality and originality are our real credo; nothing here is taken for granted!”
