Standing firmly in the present, looking to the future, with eyes fixed upon the past, we seek answers for
present-day dilemmas. Viewing the world, looking to that time that came before us, we take the wisdom
learned to strengthen the life of our students.

Mission StatementThe academically rigorous, project-based learning opportunities of
the Lahainaluna Boarding Program connects the Boarders to the
roots of Hawaiian history and, with the support of our vibrant and
compassionate community, exposes them to multiple experiences,
providing the necessary tools for an individual to become a positive
and contributing member of the community.

Purpose Statement
To offer High School aged adolescents a four-year, experience-based learning program, outside the home
they are accustomed to and set in the historic town of Lahaina, a place intertwined with and evolving
through its rich Hawaiian roots, by providing opportunities for each Boarder to develop the following
attributes:

● Self-discipline

● Understanding and acceptance of responsibility
● Career /college readiness
● Cultural, social, and academic choices
● Understanding, practice, and implementation of Hawaiian culture

Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Junior Year is about displaying responsibility for future goals. Boarders, who are now upperclassmen, leaders, and contributing members of the community, will focus on entering our Lahaina community workplace.
The Goal this year is to expose Junior Boarders to available Career-Ready options following high school graduation.

Internships
Internships provide a structured job placement with a
community business so that the Boarder receive a real-life
work experience. The Internship opportunity provides:
○ Pre-set schedule
○ Continuous on-the-job training

Choices
Senior Year is about making choices to help each Boarder accomplish future goals. Boarders have completed 11 years of formal education including the Boarding Program that prepares them to be both college and career ready.
The goal is to enable Boarders to take control of their education by developing an internship of their choosing or beginning their college career with courses at UH Maui College, Lahaina campus.
