Three Year Bream Harvest Comparison

2.2 inches of rainfall for January 2016. The water temperature is 53˚F at the surface. Secchi is at 36 inches. Since this is the wet season I thought I would advise anglers on muddy visibility levels in the lake. Everybody knows Rob’s Rainfall Rules. Rule #1. For each inch of rain that falls per hour, the lake will rise three inches per hour. Rule #2. For every inch of rainfall, it takes the lake three days for the mud to settle out.
Mark Grant caught a nice 9 pound, 22.5-inch bass the other day while he was fishing a glide bait. This bass really wanted to get that lure. Note that the bass has only one eye. This fish was released back to the lake.
2015 BASS HARVEST REGULATION CONTINUES INTO 2016
Anglers have an unlimited bass harvest at Lake LU, as long as the bass is less than 14 inches in total length.
In addition, anglers may also harvest 1 fish greater than 22 inches in total length, per person, per day at
Lake LU. Please continue to encourage anglers to harvest
small bass. ~ Jay Haffner
Bream anglers are having good luck with small red worms fished tight line on the bottom. El Paso Brownlee caught a bluegill as big as a dinner plate the other day but I didn’t get a photo of it. Now is the time to catch a trophy bluegill or shell cracker.
The city of Livingston brought us a trailer load of old Christmas trees to put in the lake as fish attractors.
It was tough work but we finally got the trees staked out where I wanted them.
We are beginning to perform a number of controlled burns on the prairie restoration areas on campus. We will conduct most of these burns on Thursday and Friday.
