Advanced Engine Design.

The Lancer’s 2.0L MIVEC Aluminum – block engine is an

advanced design that’s both lightweight and powerful.

It incorporates variable value lift and timing on both

exhaust and intake valves, delivering 115kW’s of power and

drivability to meet your needs whatever the circumstances.

Coupled to electronic power steering Lancer can achieve

7.3L/100km.

A car you can really live with

Whichever model Lancer you choose, you’ll be very

comfortable. While it’s a medium sized car, Lancer

is well stocked with leg and headroom, front and back.

The luggage area is just as accommodating. The result is

a very spacious interior feel and a more relaxing drive.

For even more space, Lancer hatch has tumble-forward

seats. Simply flip a lever and the boot space nearly

doubles. On all hatch models, the floor of the boot drops

down to accommodate even more luggage, shopping,

sports gear, pot plants, you get the picture.

Responsive Transmission

Lancer offers the smooth and efficient Continuously

Variable Transmission, or CVT for short. CVT keeps the

engine close to its level of peak efficiency, while the

advanced adaptive INVECS III transmission tailors its

response to the driver’s particular driving style.

In addition, the 6-speed Sports Mode allows you to

select and hold any chosen gear.

Airbags

All model Lancers come equipped with SRS airbags to provide protection in the event

of a collision. Driver and front passenger have front dual-stage airbags. All Lancers

feature a driver knee airbag that works in unison with pretensioner seatbelts with

force-limiters to protect the legs and pelvis from injury. Side and curtain airbags for

front and rear passengers to protect from side-impact collisions are standard.

Emergency Stop Signals

The Emergency Stop signal System

(ESS) is a system that can be found

on the new Mitsubishi Lancer. It

cleverly combines the visibility of the

emergency signals and the lack of

time to activate them under heavy

braking. When maximum pressure

is applied to the brake pedal over

55km/hr, which is what happens in

an emergency stop, ESS will activate

all the turn lights and the Mitsubishi

Lancer automatically sends emergency

signals to the drivers behind. The risk

of a collision is greatly reduced by this

system of emergency stop signals

ELECTRONIC BRAKEFORCE DISTRIBUTION (EBD)

EBD automatically increases

rear-braking force on demand,

reducing front brake wear and

improving fade resistance.

SMARTBRAKE

Here’s another innovative feature that’s there just in case.

If you unintentionally hit your accelerator pedal as well as

your brake in an emergency situation, the new SmartBrake

system spots the error, cancels out the message from the

gas pedal and puts full concentration on your braking.

MULTI-MODE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)

Lancer’s intelligent 4-channel, 4-sensor braking

system monitors different wheel speed and

activates brakes to individual wheels when

required. It allows you to keep manoeuvrability

under heavy braking and slippery road conditions.

RISE body

Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE)

unibody design is a highly rigid shell where the super-

strength cabin acts as a safety cage. In the event of an

accident, the impact-absorbing crushable zones and

reinforced critical points, along with the lower centre of

gravity, all combine to deliver superior safety performance.

The RISE body system also contributes to the Lancer’s

exceptional road handling.

Suspension

All Lancer models come with all-wheel independent

suspension featuring MacPherson struts with coil springs,

front and rear stabilisers for responsive cornering and

straight-line stability.

Cornering

The new Lancer was designed for winding roads and tight

corners. As well as Active Stability Control (ASC) and Active

Traction Control (ATC) providing superior road handling

and control, the Lancer’s ABS system gives you enhanced

manoeuvrability under braking. The Lancer’s intelligent

4-channel, 4-sensor braking system (ABS) monitors

different wheel speeds and activates braking to individual

wheels when required. For further safety and security,

Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) automatically

increases rear-braking force on demand, reducing front

brake wear and improving fade resistance.

ACTIVE TRACTION CONTROL (ATC)

ATC is an intelligent system that automatically controls engine output so

that driving wheels are prevented from spinning. When it senses loss of

traction in an independent wheel it automatically applies braking force

to that wheel while sending extra power to other wheels with traction

to keep you moving.

ACTIVE STABILITY CONTROL (ASC)

Active Stability Control provides the driver with greater

control in tough cornering situations, reducing the

chance of under-steer or over-steer by adjusting engine

power and applying the brakes independently on each

wheel. The result - a tighter, safer drive.REAR STRAIGHT FRAMES

In a rear collision, the rear straight frames

efficiently absorb energy and work with

the rigidity of the tailgate area to minimise

intrusion into the cabin.

CRUSHABLE ZONES

Two crushable zones fore and aft of

the engine and transmission mounts

absorb and dissipate energy in the

event of a collision.

HIGH-RIGIDITY DECK

Joining A-pillars with the deck enhances the

rigidity of the cabin structure. The construction

minimises backward movement of the

steering column in an accident, reducing

the chance of injury to the driver.
