The Landfall: SEP / OCT 2009 SEP / OCT 2009 SEP / OCT 2009 SEP / OCT 2009 Hello everyone and welcome to our “almost fall” edition of The Landfall. We just re- cently returned from a trip to Baltimore to attend Tom’s parents’ 50 th Anniversary party. It was a surprise and yes, they really were surprised. Joshua is spending a couple of weeks visiting his grand- parents and he was even surprised to see us. Seeing all the people who attended their party made me think of all the people we come in contact with in our lifetime and how many of those people stay connected with us. We have our families, but how many people that we meet along the way stay a part of our lives for years to come? We meet people through various activities and or- ganizations and some become friends, while others stay a part of our lives for many years. Being a part of the United States Power Squadrons® is a good way to make those kinds of friends who are a part of our lives for many years to come. I think a good way to celebrate the end of summer and the start of fall with our family and friends is to have a picnic. We will be having a Commander’s Picnic on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 2 pm – 6 pm at Sleepy Hole Park Sleepy Hole Park Sleepy Hole Park Sleepy Hole Park. Hello everyone and welcome to our “almost fall” edition of The Landfall. We just re-cently returned from a trip to

Baltimore to attend Tom’s parents’ 50th Anniversary party. It was a surprise and yes, they really were surprised. Joshua is spending a couple of weeks visiting his grand-parents and he was even surprised to see us. Seeing all the people who attended their party made me think of all the people we come in contact with in our

areas, 12 picnic shelters, children's playground, rest-rooms, open space, trails, a beautiful lake, and breathtaking views of the Nansemond River. Ham-burgers and hotdogs will

be provided and we are just asking for a contri-bution of $3.00 per person to cover the costs of side dishes and desserts. Just bring your chairs, whatever you prefer to drink and get ready to have some fun. We will have lots of games, including ladder ball toss, quoits, dominoes, and there are even 12 official horseshoe courts with walkways. Please con-tact either myself or Susan Reisinger no later than September 13 to let us know you are attending. It will be a great time and a great

way to relax with family and friends.

Hope to see everyone there.
