Weathering – the breaking down of land

Erosion – the movement of rocks and soil due to weathering or natural disasters

Deposition – the placement of rocks and soil that was moved;

A FLAT LAND THAT IS LOW IN ELEVATION

EXAMPLE:

MOUTH OF RIVER

The part of the river that empties into a larger body of water

Example:

L A K E

A large body of water that is surrounded by land on all sides

Example:

B A S I N A depression

in the earth’s surface that is usually surrounded by higher land(mountains)

Example:

MOUNTAIN RANGE

High pieces of land with steep sides caused by plate movement; subduction

Example:

ISTHMUS

A narrow strip of land connecting two landmasses

Example:

MOUNTAINA very tall, natural piece of land with steep sides caused by erosion
