High Level Product Overview
Ariba is a full procurement suite on demand and at the same time the world largest and leading Supplier
Network
With the Ariba Network Integration 1.0, SAP Business Suite becomes “Ariba-enabled”. This means, SAP
provides the possibility for customers (in particular buyers) to connect the following SAP Business Suite
systems to the Ariba Network:
• SAP ERP
• SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM) in extended classic scenario
• Note: SAP SRM in classic scenario is covered by the integration of SAP ERP with Ariba Network
• SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC)
All customers using an SAP ERP, SAP SRM, or SAP SNC installation that is in standard maintenance can
be integrated with our new supplier network, either directly or via middleware.
This means, we will support all customers with SAP ERP 6.0 including all Enhancement Packages.

Deployment of Ariba Network Integration 1.0 Add-On deployment in SAP ERP system
General Recommendation
Ariba Network Integration add-ons are deployed in every SAP ERP system that you want to integrate
with Ariba Network
Use direct connectivity between SAP ERP and Ariba Network
Benefits No additional system or infrastructure component required
Minimum release is SAP ERP 6.0
Low landscape complexity, modification-free add-ons only
No disruption, no update or upgrade required
Considerations SAP ERP system must be at least based on SAP ERP 6.0 SP Stack 15
Starting with EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 “Forward Error Handling” (FEH) is supported
Connectivity needs to be configured for each SAP ERP system
SAP ERP systems are connected directly with external cloud environment but communication is always initiated from ERP system

Deployment of Ariba Network Integration 1.0Hub deployment of Ariba Network Integration
Not Supported
Ariba Network Integration add-ons are deployed in a separate system
SAP ERP systems are integrated with Ariba via a central SAP ERP-Ariba-Connector system
Implications
No deployment separate from consuming SAP application possible
Ariba Network Integration add-ons must be technically deployed in the SAP ERP system
No support of old SAP ERP releases below SAP ERP 6.0

Deployment of Ariba Network Integration 1.0Add-On deployment with each SAP ERP, SAP SRM or SAP SNC system
Compared to Basic Landscape Setup:
Benefits SAP ERP, SAP SRM or SAP SNC system is not connected directly with the external
cloud environment (extended security benefit and central monitoring) *
Connection of non-SAP system via SAP NetWeaver PI system is possible
Considerations SAP NetWeaver Process Integration system required
Existing SAP NetWeaver PI system can be reused, only Ariba Network Adapter has to be installed
Configuration of Ariba integration needs to be adapted in each backend system and SAP NetWeaver PI
Example
Mediation via central SAP NetWeaver PI
Ariba Network Integration add-ons are deployed in every SAP ERP/SRM/SNC system that need to be integrated with
Ariba Network
Mediated communication between SAP ERP/SRM/SNC and Ariba Network via central SAP NetWeaver PI
Ariba Network Adapter deployed in SAP NetWeaver PI system
* Connection to external cloud environment always initiated by Ariba Network Adapter
