Landscape Journeys
2016. 4. 20 – 5. 30
Celebrating the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Korea, Opera Gallery is thrilled to present a solo exhibition of one of the most beloved contemporary French artist, Jean-François Larrieu. This event will be followed by a solo exhibition of Chae Sung Pil in June, a way to establish dialogue between French and Korean artists. Capturing the beauty of nature in an ingenious way, Jean-François Larrieu has been exclusively represented by Opera Gallery worldwide for the last two decades. The primary motifs of Jean-François Larrieu’s works come from the beautiful scenery of the Pyrénées where he was born and raised. He draws his inspiration from the colours of the land, his travels and his childhood. Thus he unfolds a world of beautiful, elegant, delightful dreams. Amalgamating nature and architecture into vivid, colourful forms, Jean-François Larrieu’s joyful way of portraying dense urban spaces suggests a reaffirmation of literal and figurative roots. For his first solo exhibition in Seoul, Jean-François Larrieu presents, among other pieces, three new works depicting the mountainous and high-rise scenery of metropolitan Seoul. Jean-François Larrieu’s dreamful canvas overlaid with a feast of beautiful hues, an infusion of magic and musical cadence will transport the viewer into the land of imagination and utopia.
