His role is to record events and activi- ties over the last year 2016, and so he would very much appreciate any annual reports, summaries of activi- ties, quotations or contributions from clubs, organisations and individuals. These can be sent to him at The Old Post Office, Moor Road, Langham CO4 5NR or email: [email protected],uk ROAD CLOSURES As part of a planned programme of repairs to roads in the area, Essex County Council will be im- plementing road closures over the next 18 months. Roads within this parish which will be affected are: Ivy Lodge Road, Horkesley Road, Straight road, Boxted Road and Dedham Road. The work will be undertaken in three phases involving initial patching, followed by re-surfacing then re-instatement of white lines and other road markings. Although Essex County Council are unable to give exact dates for the closures at the moment, you can check the current situation and whether closures will be im- plemented in the next three months by checking online at www.Essexhighways.org/ transport-and-roads BOXTED EVERGREENS Over the festive season the club enjoyed many festive treats. As well as attending the Thursford show on 24th November, there was a stop for refreshments at Swaffham and the Christmas lights ‘switch on’ at Holt. A Christmas lunch at the New Times in Tiptree was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Royal British Legion The Royal British Legion is a charity providing support for the Navy, Army, Air Force, Reservists, veterans and their fami- lies. There is a local branch of the Legion in Boxted. Membership is £17p.a. and helps support the national charity which has some obvious connections here in the Col- chester area, along with providing a maga- zine with information on how the lives of veterans are supported. Also in Boxted is a British Legion Club, available for members of the British Legion to join. Membership of the Club, located on Straight Rd, is £10 p.a. and provides a bar with social activities, pool, darts and a friendly atmosphere. Family events at the Club include chil- dren's parties at Easter, Halloween and Christmas, barbecue events in the summer and music. Also on offer are Pantomimes, quizzes, psychic nights, a well stocked bar with draft beers and regular guest ales and a large TV screen There is currently a need for more pool players to join a Sun- day league for those keen to take part.
