Learning language is somewhat like collec!ng and connec!ng
dots. Here, the dots are words, which when connected
together following certain rules or pa!erns, create and convey
various meanings, ideas or concepts.
Crea!vity too, like language, is somewhat like collec!ng and
connec!ng dots. In this context, the dots are concepts or
ideas. When the concepts or ideas are modified, or connected
in different ways to other concepts, new ideas and concepts
are created.
The essence of language is the manipula$on of words while
the essence of crea$vity is the manipula$on of concepts. Given
that words are, in fact, simply labels for concepts and ideas,
the connec$on between language and crea$vity should be
rather obvious.
Intelligence is,
quite simply, our
ability to
perceive, understand, and respond to the world in and around us.
We have all acquired our own ideas of what the world is made up of, how
it works, and our place in it. These are what guide our responses. The
clearer, be!er developed and connected the ideas, the more fluent,
confident and intelligent the responses.
Language is a powerful tool for exploring, connec$ng and shaping ideas
to express our intelligence and crea!vity.
Clearly, language, intelligence and crea!vity are deeply inter-connected,
with each suppor$ng and leveraging the others. Any language learning or
mastery programme should take full considera$on of this fact.
The LINFA Method™ does that, and makes it fun at the same $me.
Underpinning The LINFA Method™ is the LINFA Framework™ which
cross-references various language skills to specific learning or
cogni$ve processes such as remembering/recognising,
understanding, applying, analysing, evalua$ng and crea$ng.
Based on the language and learning needs iden$fied through the
framework, The LINFA Method has various learning modules that
apply a combina$on of tools and techniques to meet those needs.
The majority of these modules are play and game-based and can be
used by people of all ages.
The modules are organised into 5 main groups.
Group I consists of awareness, mindfulness, and sensi$sa$on exercises;Group II makes use of LINFA learning cards;Group III makes use of marker boards or chalkboards;Group IV makes use of eXtraDICTION®, a proprietary and patented language board game;Group V are mainly tradi$onal instruc$onal approaches.
