Language, Linguistics andCommunication

OUR APPROACHThe BA (Hons) Programme in

Contemporary English Studies (BACES) isan innovative degree programme that

combines literature and languagestudies to develop students’ critical and

cultural awareness, analyticalability, and English proficiency.

We aim to provide an all-round Englisheducation within Lingnan’s liberal arts

environment, characterised by closeattention to teaching, small class sizes,

and multicultural learning environments.

EXPERIENCE

We host Writer-in-Residence workshopsregularly. The Writer-in-Residence offers

elective courses in his or her areas ofinterest and develops students’ creativewriting abilities by enabling them to see

their work in print via an in-house literaryjournal. We also invite internationally

recognised writers to give writing coursesand workshops.

INNOVATION

We have a strong focus on critical, creative and performance skills and aim to

prepare students for a widerange of careers and life opportunities. We

also encourage every BACES student toparticipate in a study-abroad

programme, developing both language skills and intercultural awareness.
