Language tools Now there are two main places you can choose or change the language

setting first being the very first page of the website. The second

This one here sets the overall language input across the whole website.

While this one lets you translate the certain article you looking at into a different language. As you can see there are many choices.

How to contribute to the site

A bar like this may pop up on some articles and this is an instant way to help contribute to the site. All you need to do is click improve article and make your changes. See also that you access some of the forums on the ‘talk page.’

How to contribute to the site...As you see you may have to create an account to edit some pieces

of work. But a alternative is to contact the main editor or ‘established use’ and they my make you changes for you. Remember if you wish to edit work discuss it with other editors of the page, because you may find that your changes are unnecessary and could be removed.

How to contact the main editors of the siteYou should find

this box on the left hand-side of the screen. Click contact Wikipedia and it will take you to there.

As you can see here, you are able to do a range of interactions with the editors of Wikipedia. (also see next slide)

Also here there are a series of questions you can ask about any problems you may experience during your time on Wikipedia.

How to access forumsYou should find this box on the left hand-side of the screen. Click Community portal and it will take you to there.

As you can see you can have discussions, resolve things with the main editors of Wikipedia or have questions answered by the ‘reference desk.’

Here are some examples of the types of discussions that the forums offer to you.

How to edit work

When you go to any article you should see a small edit button above each section in the article. (like this)

Once you click it, it should take you to the editing page. (shown on next slide) some may not have it because the editor has put extra security on it due to vandalism or unnecessary editing.

As you can see there are plenty of editing options on the tool bad displayed.

I would like to raise a small issue here, even though you don’t need an account to use or edit Wikipedia, it is recommended to create one so things go faster and you get a extra benefits like more privacy. Also apparently when you edit work without an account your IP address is recorded publicly and this could lead to a serious cause of ‘internet –hacking.’ By creating an account you can conceal this type of information from public eyes.

How to create your own pageUnfortunately I’m not a member of Wikipedia so I won’t be able to

give you a step by step guide on how to create your own page, if you plan on becoming a member I don’t know how to create your own page simply click ‘contact Wikipedia’ then go onto ‘how do I create an article.’ hopefully it should take you to this guide.

I hope that this guide has been both useful and interesting to you and may you now enjoy using Wikipedia with that extra bit of knowledge you have hopefully gained throughout this guide.

Any comments will be read gladly and any suggestions will be taken into consideration. Thank you all.
