spring and summer is competition time, both

in France and abroad. our technicians and sales engineers are in the field to help with the organisation and success of events. Whether for small or large competitions, we are there for our customers.

With the california state skeet shoot in the Usa, issF championships in suhl (germany), championnat de France de sporting at la cerisaille (France), shenyang national games (china) and the saint lambert English sporting grand Prix (France) to name just a few, the calendar

is packed.

We have also chosen this summer period to unveil our new brochure, a brand new edition which reconnects our company with the values of our sport and which gives us more room to chat to our customers. With new

communication tools we can place the emphasis on access to information in all possible formats, from paper to electronic versions (website, videos, etc.).

We have launched several projects at our factors: creation of a stock of targets in Biot

and the redevelopment of the sermaize factory which will be a new logistic platform for clays. our objective is to be as close as possible to our customers.

this summer was marked by one major event, the Boy scouts of america Jamboree,

where our mobile target shooting disciplines for archery and paintball were a huge success, with 40 000 people taking part. you can read more in the next few pages.

in our first newsletter we told you all about the job

of machine designer with our colleague sébastien aubry.Designing a machine with modern 3D technologies is not an end in itself.

it’s a crucial step, of course, but it cannot provide us with all the guarantees we need in terms of performance and re-liability, both for the machine’s general operation and also for its parts, tiny as they are, which are put to the test when the machine is running.

We are well aware of this; we are demanding and we must produce flawless machines that meet the requirements of

clubs and shooters of every level. our prototype test stage is without doubt a key phase in the production process.Julien Buffa is in charge of testing our prototypes on behalf of the research and development department.

laporte news : « Julien, could you just tell us in a few words what proto-type testing involves? »Julien : « the first thing you need to know is that we test not just the ma-chines themselves, but also their parts and accessories, a battery charger, bearings, a motor and

so on. »

l.n. : « Do you also test our sup-pliers’ parts? »Julien : « of course! We need to be sure that a part or accessory that we add to one of our ma-chines can stand up to the de-mands that our equipment provi-

ders were unable to test. We test them here, in our workshops and a little later on under real condi-tions at a par-tner club. this is

the best way to ensure that our machines are reliable. For ins-tance, a prototype can be tested continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for over

l.n. : « Do you have a standard procedure? »Julien : « of course, we have a set of test specifications, with, for example, a minimum of 1 million cycles. But we need to adapt our procedures to suit each specific case. it can be very useful to create a test. our team’s expe-rience and the feedback we get from our customers are vital factors. » l.n. : « you’re an old hand at laporte?»Julien : « a young old hand... but i grew up with laporte machines since my father (Jean-claude Buffa) has been sales manager for 30 years and is still in the job today. i am also an FFBt-li-censed shooter and i share the same demands as our custo-mers. »

l.n. : « i’m told that you’re mer-ciless with your machines... »Julien : « i’ll let you watch the test video for the Phoenix® 65t! »

in July 2013, we went to the summit Betchel Reserve, West

virginia Usa, for the Boy scouts of america’s® Jamboree. 40 000 scouts and 10 000 people accompanying them met for 10 days of adventure and discovery of new discipline, in addition to their traditional activities: tree-top walks, zip wires (death slides), quad biking and, last but not least, the sporting arrow and the Flashing Ball, the latest creations by laporte!the Boy scouts of america have acquired our Phoenix machines to teach kids how to shoot at mobile targets. as sponsors until 2021, a great new adventure is starting here.once again the american

machine is demonstrating its wonderful efficiency, with a 34,000 hectare park dedicated to adventure, a full wi-fi network, and an impressive security operation run together by the Bsa and the Us army, providing all the conditions to ensure that this event remains long in the memory.Every day, the four firing ranges created for the occasion hosted 2500 scouts (kids and the people accompanying them) to test their skill and discover just how addictive these new disciplines can be (some

of them even queued up again and again for a new session). the video we produced to mark the occasion shows their enthusiasm, their enjoyment and their desire to do better and better. What stands out from their

comments is the challenge these machines give them. you can see their concentration, their desire to better

themselves and hit more targets on all their faces.the organisers and shooting instructors liked how easy

the kids, instructors and volunteers all told us

how impressed they were with our machines.the film we shot at the Jamboree shows you how easy and safe the machines are to use and just how enthusiastic the young people were at the event.

it was to set the traps up, their reliability and their ability to create a real event. one of them

said to us: “ these machines are really plug and play... you plug it in and off you go! ”.

there is a clear advantage for organisations such as the scouts, holiday camps,

resorts and shooting clubs to be offer their customers these types of

activity. this is evidence of that.We would like to thank the

volunteer instructors who were so professional in organising these activities. the instruction

and safety workshops they provided at each range ensured the kids could shoot under the best possible conditions and make incredible progress. We’ll see you at the next Jamboree! •

in the clay-pigeon shoo-ting world, the unique forest

setting of suhl (germany) is synonymous with high scores. the quality of the competi-tions that are held there attract high numbers of shooters.

2013’s event attracted 483 competitors from 42 na-tions. 15 world and European records were set during the event (see the REsUlts Book page 22 and 23: http://www.esc-shooting.org/u/calen-dar_result/2013/08/ech_suhl_2013_results_book.pdf).

the return of the Beretta World sporting cham-

pionship’s saw the start of a long awaited glorious British summer and a new venue for the competition.so the team from laporte/cPc including andrew herrett, trap technician, and Robert grain-ger, former cPc sales manager, were dispatched to the home of the Earl and countess of clarendon – holywell Estate, hampshire- to join forces with Pete corney and Bob clark of travelling clays r Us.

Pete has been setting the course for the Beretta World sporting championships for the past 9 years, eight of those using solely laporte traps and cPc targets. the

2013 competition was a spe-cial event with the change of venue and high expectations. over 1250 people were due to shoot during the cham-pionship. naturally Peter and others involved with the com-petition were a little nervous.however Pete’s nerves were substantially reduced as he had “....every confidence in the fully serviced laporte traps and the staff that were provi-ded by laporte/cPc”. Forty laporte traps were used, each one checked every evening by cPc technicians, and over 210 000 cPc targets used without a single breakdown. Peter added that ”i can say without reservation that it all went smoothly” and “i have nothing but praise for both

the equipment and the staff.” andrew herrett, laporte/cPc trap technician, stated “i was pleased that once again that the laporte traps and cPc clays performed to the very highest standard. shoots and competitions like these are a great opportu-nity to for shooters to see the undeniable quality of laporte sporting traps.laporte/cPc would like to congratulate Richard Bunning on winning the 2013 Beretta World sporting championships. We would also like to say well done and thank you to Pete corney and his team at tra-velling clays r Us for making this year’s event, according to andrew herrett, “one of the best Beretta’s ever” . •

this year, the European trench Dtl

championships which were held at Btc lazenay were fully equipped with laporte machines. the ranges were re-equipped throughout the year with our traps and ran with our clays, guaranteeing a very low no-bird rate.Working alongside our teams who were able to take full advantage of our ma-chines’ extreme settings, the organisers were guaranteed a successful competition.

We would like to thank the vincent family for their welcome, their help and their trust throu-ghout this competition.

congratulations also to the 315 competitors and well done to the French com-petitors Pascal Froment and Quentin luzurier for their first and third place in the scratch. •

the heavens opened for the French compak

championships at la Rapée between the 26th and 28th July. We take our hats off to mr. auvret and his team who managed to keep the event going, despite the lightning which sent everyone run-ning for cover at one point.

there was top-level compe-tition that weekend between

team laporte’s shooters. the weekend ended with the promising victory by mathieu Delmas ahead of such great champions as charles Bardou, christophe auvret or Jean-Paul mordefroid to name just three.

We were delighted to offer the participants fine targets to aim at thanks to our traps and give them a challenge that matched their talent. •

to mark this stage of the French hunting cham-

pionships at la cerisaille, the organisers provided shoo-ters with a fantastic course and were able to count on the extreme trajecto-ries of our Pc PRo range.

once again, the competition was tough between charles

Bardou and mathieu Delmas, who would have to settle for second place this time behind the Parisian champion.

We would like to thank the Dulary family and their team who worked alongside us to provide a fantastic com-petition at their club. •

the July heat wave continued at Ragley

hall, alcester, Warwickshire- the venue for the 2013 country land and Business association (cla) fair.as we have done for many years the team from laporte/cPc was in attendance. an innovation for the 2013 game fair season was the stand itself. a new standardised, more compact stand and new internal layout was decided upon this year. this design allows for good customer access and contact

with members of the laporte/cPc team and still enables the customers to view our excellent product rangeFrom the sales side it was a case of old meets new. Robert

grainger, stalwart and former sales manager, was working closely with

tom Blades, attending his first cla for laporte/cPc, as our new sales manager. For any mechanical queries andrew herrett, cPc technician, and Jean-Francois allard, laporte’s technical Director, were on hand to answer and

advise on all technical issues.the wealth of both knowledge and expertise gave those visiting the laporte/cPc stand a great insight into the quality, durability of laporte traps and targets. this combined with a fantastic back up service gave the customers the assurance that laporte products remain at the top of their league.the cla game fair continues as a marvellous opportunity to showcase our products and to meet customers both old and new. We would therefore like to thank everybody who came to see us on gumaker’s Row and we look forward to seeing you in the future. •

the château de chambord hosted its 32nd game Fair

in June. the largest hunting fair (450 stands and 74 000 visitors) once again gave us the opportunity to come and meet our customers.

helped by alain tournoux (tir groupé) and his team, we set up two clay-pi-geon shooting ranges.the public range enabled thousands of visitors to train on our Parcours machines, while our viP area provided the opportunity to test new products from major armoury companies on our traps.over 120 000 clays were fired over the weekend.

We also set up several moving targets, on a proper hunting track, where visitors were able to try out Beretta , Browning and merkel rifles.

at the same time, we set up our arc-trap partner’s inflatable structure at the archery area, where our Phœnix® range once again was very popular with shoo-ters. We welcomed the club interchasse, featuring among others David Douillet, abdelatif Benazzi and vincent Jay.

it was a very busy wee-kend for our team: Julien, Jean-claude, antoine and Frédéric. •

Elicio.es (http://Elicio.es), our partner and exclusive

distributor for the laporte brand in spain, manufac-tures skeet traps under the same name. We would like to thank them for everything they do for laporte in the spanish market. the major skeet competitions also pro-vide a wonderful shop-win-dow to present our respective brands. adelante Elicio!Report...

the English shooter nathal hales and the spanish brand Elicio.es with its range of automatic skeet traps were the major winners at the 2nd Fitsac World championships. the competition was held over the first weekend of July at the clube de caçadores do Porto in Portugal. a large

contingent of shooters from around the world took part in this fantastic championship.the future is safe!the young British shooter who won the competition completed a fantastic round despite the tough weather conditions, finishing just ahead of thomas Bayer in second place, another young talent from the Usa squad.it is clear to see that the younger generations are the future of this discipline and as this competition has shown, the competition is going to be tough as the shooters are of a very similar level to each other. in the end, hales won by just a short head.this was a tough cham-pionship for competitors and machines alike. the baking heat over the competition

days shows that shooter’s physical fitness or youth are now massively important.

the Elimatic range pro-ved its effectiveness and its reliability. the four firing ranges which were equipped for the occasion shot over 22 000 skeets and encoun-tered no technical problems, guaranteeing a free-flowing competition, to the great delight of competitors, refe-rees and organisers alike. •
