Sacraments are parish celebrations and as such,
parishioners should receive sacraments in the parish they attend. It would be unfair to ask for the use of a church to which we have no membership, thus preventing their own members from scheduling
events on those dates.

UPCOMING MEETINGS
The privacy act no longer allows a list of
hospitalized patients to be given to clergy who visit
the hospitals. The only way to receive a visit while
in hospital is to inform the parish office that you
are there!
Some of our senior parishioners have moved to rest
homes or nursing homes. It would be greatly
appreciated if family members could inform the
office so that some contact can be made with those
who no longer live in their own homes.
Finally, if your address or phone number has
changed in the past year or if you are new to the
parish, please be sure to notify the office so that
our records may be kept up to date.
Sunday Offertory: A reminder that all offertory envelopes and pre-authorized debit donations will remain with your home parish. Loose donations stay in the church where they were given. If you are interested in Pre-Authorized Debit, please contact the parish office or pick up a registration form at the
entrance of the church.
Family of Parishes News Update
Welcome to our Pastoral Team: We welcome Sue Orcsik our newly hired Pastoral worker who is taking on the role
of “Family Faith Formation”. Working with the Pastoral Team, she will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of families for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation, providing catechesis for our children and their families. We welcome Sue to the Pastoral Team of the LaSalle
River Canard Catholic Family of Parishes.
And we’re off… Happy Labour Day! Classes resume on Tuesday. We welcome the staff and their support teams, the
children and their families to another year of Catholic education. The Pastoral Team will work with our Elementary and Secondary Schools keeping them connected to the Family of Parishes, encouraging them to continue to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, celebrating our faith and providing them with sacramental instructions and experiences. We thank God for the summer months of rest and a break from routine and we pray that His blessings will be bestowed upon us in abundance as we begin the 2019-2020 academic year!
Sacred Heart Rectory: Work at the Sacred Heart rectory continues where both priests will be in residence. There is some painting to complete and some carpeting to replace. Slowly but surely, things are falling into place!
Pastors Gathering: Currently, there are 8 Families of Parishes that are fully implemented in our Diocese. Both Bishops will be meeting with the 8 Pastors this Thursday afternoon in London. Once a month, the Bishops will gather with us to hear of our experiences and to provide us with an opportunity to support one another in this transition which affects greatly the life of a Pastor. This will be beneficial for the next group of Families of Parishes that will be activated.
Central Office Renovations: Work is nearing completion in the office space at St. Joseph Church that will now accommodate our 8 full-time staff members. The 3 offices
will be closed September 11th – 13th, as well as September 16th – 18th so that office equipment, files and so forth can be transferred to St. Joseph, giving the secretaries and Pastoral Team the chance to unpack and get somewhat settled. Please be patient with us during this time of transition.
RCIA: On September 17th, the RCIA team will offer dinner at 6pm at St. Joseph for those who have signed-up and for those who may want inquire about the process. If you have not already done so,
please contact the office and leave your name so that the meal may be sufficient for all who are attending. The dinner will be followed by a presentation of the RCIA process. The evening will come end by 8pm.
To all parishioners – if you know of someone in our communities that might consider becoming Catholic, please invite them to consider joining the RCIA.
Fr. Ray returns from a 3 week French Immersion Course. Hopefully he is well rested and ready to serve all our parishioners. It is great to have him back home!
Bon retour Père Ray et merci d’avoir passé ce temps à améliorer votre français. Nous avons hâte de jaser avec vous!
Eucharistic Adoration will resume this month with St. Paul’s parish having adoration every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. Sacred Heart Parish will have adoration the second Thursday of each month from 10am - 6pm and St. Joseph will have adoration the first Friday of each month from 9:45am - 2pm. Please use the sign up sheets so the Blessed Sacrament does not go unattended.
Marriage Preparation Course: A number of married couples will host the Marriage Preparation Courses for all engaged couples being married in our Family of Parishes. The weekend is scheduled for October 18th & 19th at St. Joseph in the parish hall. Couples are asked to pre-register for the course. Information has been forwarded to each engaged couple. If you have not received the invitation, please contact the office.
This course is mandatory for all couples getting married in a Catholic Church. If you cannot attend our course, it is your responsibility to find another session to attend and you will be asked to provide a copy of your certificate that is given to you upon completion.
Vocation Corner: “God calls you to make definitive choices, and He has a plan for each of you: To discover that plan and to respond to your vocation is to move
toward personal fulfilment.” Pope Francis
