LATE STARTER’S ORCHESTRA LSO is for adults, 18 to 80+, but not intended for complete beginners. Participants should have basic music reading skills and a willingness to commit to the group. There are no auditions, just a conversation/placement discussion with the conductor. All strings, woodwind, percussion and brass players welcome. This is the opportunity to refresh your skills and make music with others will help you develop as a player and have some fun! Conductor: Evalind Pickering - String instructor and conductor in the Clark Shawnee School District. Winner of the first Springfield Symphony Music Educator of the Year Award and a violinist herself. One hour rehearsals are held in Room 302 Krieg Hall on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Krieg Hall is wheelchair accessible. Cost: $100 for the quarter, includes registration fee. The program will take in Wittenberg’s Music Building, Krieg Hall, 734 Woodlawn Avenue, Springfield, Ohio. Students will be placed in small groups to receive both individualized and small ensemble instruction focusing on refining instrument techniques. Special activities will focus on music reading skills using a variety of instruments and fun techniques. Students meet together for the last session of the day and work on ensemble pieces that will be performed on the last day’s recital. BAYLEY SUMMER MUSIC

BEGINNING GUITAR CLASS

The class is open to all levels of skill—from beginner to

advanced. Participants must have their own guitar and

bring a blank manuscript book and pencil. Upon completion

students may continue with private lessons. Classes meet: June 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17, 2016

from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Place: Krieg Hall Room 304B

Instructor: Janet Ogg

Cost: $100 (plus $5 registration fee) for 5 classes

2016 CLASSES

DISCOVERING MUSIC FOR YOUNG CHILDREN These classes offer a fun, creative musical experience for young

children. A parent/caregiver will be asked to participate with

their child for each session. Week 1: Music has BEAT! Week 2:

Music is High and Low; Week 3: Music is LOUD and soft; Week

4: Music can help me learn! This class offers a wonderful music

enrichment time for the child and parent taught by an excellent

musician, public school music instructor and parent.

PIANO CLASS

Summer is a great time to learn music and to play the

piano in a small group setting. Students explore music

fundamentals and have fun learning to play piano in our

new state-of-the-art piano lab. In the fall, students can

transition into private lessons. Please purchase “Basic

Piano Primer Book” (pink book) for the elementary

age student by James Bastien. Older students should

purchase “The Older Beginner Piano Course” (WP 32) by

James Bastien.

Classes meet: June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 5, 12, 19, and 26,

2016 on Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Place: Krieg Hall Room 301

Instructor: Nancy Davis

Cost: $125 (includes registration fee) for 8 weeks

We have private lessons in piano, organ, all strings (including classical, electric and bass guitar and lute), wind instruments, voice, Suzuki violin and piano, and all percussion.

VOICE CLASS

Love to sing? Work on your vocal skills this summer. Our

goal is to help you sing properly. Learn about the care of

the voice and how to warm up. Be introduced to correct

breathing techniques and proper diction. Please purchase

the books “Get America Singing Again!” Vol. 1 and Vol.

2 (Singer's Edition) $3.95/each

Classes meet: June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 5, 12, 19, and 26,

2016 on Tuesdays from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
