Ēdole Castle

Ēdole Castle is situated in a park on the banks of Ēdole Lake. It is still inhabited. Ēdole Castle was built in the period from 1264 to 1276 and has been rebuilt several times. The permanent exhibition of this medieval castle consists of the white, red and green halls, the library, the round tower room, and the children’s toy room.

Kuldīga is a small and attractive town in Kurzeme which has always been admired and praised by poets and painters. The city centre, which developed in the 17th –18th centuries, has still preserved the old wooden buildings which form small and narrow streets.

Dievturiba. Dievturiba comes from two Latvian terms 'tureti' meaning possessor, and Dievs meaning God. In Latvian Religion Dievturis is a God possessor.

Latvians are mainly farmers. Their traditional religion is very simple. They believe in living in harmony with nature and fellow beings. Early Latvian Religion was positive and optimistic in approach. It preached possession of virtues and love. Love for ones fellow beings, love for nature. If all are good then evil cannot creep in.

Latvia`s traditional clothing

Latvia clothing reflect Latvian traditions and beliefs. White, red, green, brown and dark gray are the main component colors. Embroidered patterns and symbols adorn Latvian dress. White the color of purity and goodness is predominantly used in festival times. Red associated with life, blood, fire is used as decorative on shirts, aprons, and head dresses.
