National Day Celebration at Our School
The National Day, the 18th of November at Mežvidi Primary School is celebrated by a ceremonial concert.
The National Anthem
of Latvia “Dievs, svētī Latviju” (God Bless, Latvia!) is sung at the beginning of the concert.
Historical events are commemorated by songs, poetry, performances that are played out by the pupils.
On this day Latvians wear special ribbons made in the flag colours because our red – white – red flag is one of the most visible Latvian symbols. The ribbon is visible on people’s clothes to mark their patriotism.
