ASHES57Ashes57 is a multidisciplinary artist. Her work encompasses illustration, painting, photography, graphic design and film making. She is currently more in demand than ever, with a constant succession of shows on both sides of the Atlantic. As an illustrator, Ashes57 creates richly detailed cityscapes, filled with references to the urban music and artwork that inspire her. She is also well known for her photo portraits of musicians, and she recently released Street Treasures, a retrospective of her street art photography from all over the world. Her recent excursions into stop motion film provide a new way to express herself, as seen in DJ Rashad’s recent video: Kush
Ain’t Loud.As Art Director of LAVA Collective, Ashes57 sets the agenda artistically and musically. She uses her extensive contacts in the fields of urban art and music to program and curate our art shows and parties.
BRUNO 9LI 9li, (pronounced ‘Novelli’) is a key figure in Metagrafismo movement, which originates from Sao Paulo, Brazil. His work combines an edgy metropolitan sensibility with the mysticism and wonderment that he finds in the natural world. In recent years his shamanic figures have given way to more abstract and symbolic compositions. His technical ability is hard to appreciate unless you see his paintings first hand. LAVA is proud to have hosted the
first Bruno 9li show in the UK. we hope to work with him again one day.
TALITA HOFFMANNTalita Hoffmann (1988) is an artist born in Porto Alegre - Brazil, majored in Visual Design. Develops her paintings inspired by music, nature, the graceful dance of reality and the violent nonsense of everyday life. Animals, plants, tools, rural architecture, musical instruments, objects of daily use, situations of conflict, death, healing, fortune and mishap... She works in a way that those images flow, almost unconsciously, bringing with them strong dreamlike qualities, without predetermined limits - causing some discomfort to the viewer while holding the attention, just
like in a dream or a nightmare. Hoffmann currently lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil.
JO PEELJo Peel now lives in Sheffield but her brilliant artwork is still a regular sight on the streets of London, with new work appearing regularly. Her distinctive line drawings find beauty in scenes of urban decay and construction. Her recent experiments with stop motion video animation have won her many plaudits.
JACK DYLAN Jack Dylan made his name as a poster artist in Montreal, using his work to promote the rock nights he hosted with his friends. He has developed a distinctive style of illustration that derives from his fascination with comic books.
STIKStik’s playful, minimalist characters appear in countless poses and scenarios all over London. Each piece of his is highly site specific, painted with a sensitivity that makes them resonate with their surroundings. When we first starting working with Stik he was relatively unknown, now he is one of London’s hottest artists with celebrities queuing up to commission his work. We’re not taking all the credit for his meteoric rise, but we’re happy to have helped him out along the way.
AMAR STEWARTAmar Stewart is a London based artist and illustrator. His influences lie somewhere between Women, Music, Fashion and City Life. Amar’s work has been exhibited in various
cities around the world and he has worked with brands such as Nike, Upper Playground, WESC, Samsung, Reebok and more. His work has also been exhibited with artists such as Banksy, Mode2, Adam Neate and Mr. Brainwash. He works with various materials such as spray paint, oils, pencil and digital to re-create visions in his day to day life.
RICKY POWELLFrom Warhol and Basquiat to KRS ONE and Run DMC, Powell’s photography depicts global icons up close and personal on the streets of NYC. As a friend of the Beastie Boys, and well known kid on the scene, Powell was granted unrivalled access to the wonderful world of 80’s New York. He was on hand to witness the birth of hip hop.
OTTO SCHADE Originally from Chile, Schade now lives in London. His instantly recognisable style features characters composed out of intricately interwoven ribbons. A prolific artist both in the street and studio, Schade also is a Lecturer of Architecture.
HAERVAERKHaervaerk resides in Copenhagen. He took place in our very first group show back in 2009, and we hosted his first London solo show in 2011. His characters are melancholic; his compositions are surreal and humorous. We love his style and we look forward to working with Haervaerk again in future.
GEORGINA COOKGeorgina Cook created the influential blog Drumzofthesouth, which played a big part in the
development of the dubstep scene in it’s early days. What started as a blog later became a monthly club night, which took place at Plan B in Brixton. Georgina now lives in Paris, but she returned to London to hook up with LAVA for a solo show in 2011. The show featured a retrospective of her photography, mostly taken at the parties and studios that defined dubstep in its infancy.
TUNNIDGETunnidge is best known as a Producer / DJ, but he is also a talented visual artist. His illustrated portraits of the Deep Medi crew appeared on their classic record sleeves. In 2011 We staged a solo show to showcase Tunnidge’s illustrations, followed by an after party at Rhythm Factory.
PERU ANA ANA PERUPeru Ana Ana Peru are a street art and film-making duo from Brooklyn NYC. We flew them to London to take part in our first ever group show, which took place on Dray Walk in 2009. We love their witty and irreverent street art
PHILIP LUMBANG Philip Lumbang has earned a cult following that extends far beyond his native Los Angeles. As well as murals and canvases, Lumbang experiments with found objects, photos and furniture, all adorned with his charming, uplifting animal characters.
THE KRAHThe Krah started painting the streets and the subway trains of Athens in 1997. Now living in the UK, he continues to work tirelessly to refine
his technique, both in the studio and the street.
PAGE TSOUWe love the weird and wonderful illustrations of Page Tsou. Originally from Taiwan, Tsou graduated from the RCA in 2009. He lives and works in London.
RESTITUTION PRESSRestitution Press is a Los Angeles-based hand-screenprinted newspaper, incorporating photography, illustration and a variety of materials & techniques. The Restitution “bandit” image is ubiquitous amongst Los Angeles street art culture, and continues to spread globally.
MR PENFOLDAlthough he lives in Cambridge, Mr Penfold’s vibrant and colourful artwork
has become an increasingly familiar sight on the streets of London. Whether working solo or collaborating with likeminded cohorts Lucas, Billy, Malarky, and Sweet Toof, his pieces never fail to put a smile on your face.
EMMA DEXTERWe first worked with Emma Dexter at Outlook Festival in Croatia. She made us a mind bending optical illusion, with a speaker mounted inside a miniature hall of mirrors. Judging by their reactions, the Outlook punters loved her work as much as we do.
ESKAEska combines a hardcore graffiti sensibility with a flair for abstract art. His mastery of 3D painting techniques give his murals an incredible impression of depth.

EDAN In 2010, we hosted the London leg of Edan’s Echo Party tour. The event took place at Gramaphone, a basement club in East London which has since closed down. Warming up for Edan on the night was our friend Ricky Powell, who treated us to a memorable slide show. It was a pleasure getting to hang out with Edan and Ricky when they were in town.
LOEFAHLoefah has supported LAVA from day one, playing at our very first after party along with Mala and Sgt Pokes. Swamp81 has become of the most influential and forward thinking labels in the UK and its been great to watch it develop over the years.
JEHSTJehst is a gifted MC and beat maker, and through his label YNR he continues to push the UK hip hop scene forward. LAVA hosted the album listening party for Jehst’s recent album, ‘Dragon Of an Ordinary Family’. We teamed up with him again to host a pop up record shop on Brick Lane last year. Both events were memorable successes.
CRISISCrisis knows how to rock the party- there is no doubt about that. His digi-dub vibes put a smile on your face and a spring in your step. He’s played at quite a few of our events over the years, and he always brings an infectious enthusiasm along with his solid skills. His Mindstep label is going from strength to strength.
SKIPPLESkipple is the perfect DJ to turn to when you feel like some old school garage vibes. He kills it every time.
ADRI DREAM DROPPERAdri knows the right kind of music to play at an art show. he knows when to keep it chilled and when to switch it. He takes cool photos too.
