Law Links 2012 An initiative of the
Citizenship Law Related Education Program
On June 18, 2012, sixteen juniors and seniors began a seven week journey called the “Law Links” - paid, full time internships in area law firms and law-related businesses.
As high-schoolers, they expected tasks such as filing and copying. Check, check.
They expected some shredding. Check.
Answering phones? Sure. Data entry? Of course.
But, meeting new friends and making lifelong connections? Using “archaic” machines like typewriters and facsimiles? Opening their first bank accounts and experiencing how quickly money “disappears”? ….Not so much.
These sixteen interns had some incredible opportunities—observing murder trials, using social media to conduct research in preparation for trial, and meeting a long list of legal professionals—this is just scratching the surface of all they experienced this summer.
In many ways, this summer was a declaration of independence for the Law Links interns. Certainly, it was a giant step toward their futures, and we hope, great success.
Much like a complex jigsaw puzzle, the Law Links program is formed from many pieces. We depend on a number of supporters to realize The Big Picture each and every year. Everyone listed—and countless more—are instrumental in making this program an annual success.
Thank you for ALL you do.
