The Building Regulations for England and Wales require that all building plans must now provide extract ventilation in every wet room (kitchens, bathrooms, WCs and utility rooms). In Commercial or office buildings alongside the extract ventilation rates for specific rooms there is a minimum air supply rate of 10l/s per person.The required ventilation performance will be achieved by providing the airflow rates set out in Tables 1 & 2. The airflow rates specified are for the performance of the complete installation. Extract ventilation to outside is required in each kitchen, utility room and bathroom and for sanitary accommodation (WCs). The extract can can be either intermittent or continuously operating. The intermittent rate, and for continuous systems the minimum extract airflow rates at the highest and lowest settings, should be no less than specified in Table 1.

The whole dwelling ventilation rate for the supply of air to the habitable rooms in a dwelling should be no less than specified in Table 2.

Ventilation systems

System 1 Background ventilators and intermittent extract (LEV) fans. Guidance on minimum provisions forextract andwhole dwelling ventilation is set out in Table 1. above. (See catalogue pages 4 to 25 for Soler & Palau fans and ventilation products to meet these performance requirements)

System 3 Continuous mechanical extract (MEV). Guidance on (MEV) minimum provisions for extract andwhole dwelling ventilationis set out in Table 2. above.(See catalogue pages 26 to 29 for Soler & Palau fans and ventilation products to meet these performance requirements)

Select one of the following four ventilation systems options:

System 2 Passive stack ventilation (PSV).(PSV) Not offered by Soler & Palau.

System 4 Continuous mechanical supply and extract with(MVHR) heat recovery (MVHR).Guidance on minimum provisions for extract and whole dwelling ventilation is set out in Table 2. above.(See catalogue pages 30 to 33 for Soler & Palau fans and ventilation products to meet these performance requirements)

Installation guidelines

• Site fan as far away as possible from air replacement points.• Site fan close to any source of moisture and high on walls or in ceiling.• Ensure there is adequate air replacement into the room to match the extract performance of the fan or ventilation system. This may require the provision of fresh air vents or an undercut to internal doors.• Avoid siting fans near sources of heat.• To prevent condensation forming in any ductwork, insulate ducting that runs through cold roof spaces.

Model provided with an elec-tronic humidi-stat which can be adjusted to 60, 70, 80 or

90% HR using a key located on the front grille.Four indicators show the desired level of humidity. The extractor operates automatically when the humidity level in theroom is higher than the set level. The extractor will stop automati-cally when the humidity dropsbelow the selected level and after the selected period set on the ad-justable timer (1 and 30 minutes).

Model provided with a PIR (pas-sive infra-red)detector. The unit starts auto-matically when

a movement is detected within a maximum distance of 4 meters from the fan. They are also fitted with an adjustable “run on” timer, from 1 to 30 minutes, to allow the fan contin-ues operating after the initiation of the movement detection.

SILENT-100 12V must be wired to a safety isolating transformer CT-12/14 which must be located out of the reach of the water spray or person using a bath or shower. The transformer is IP21, class II insulation and protected by fuse. Also available, Transformer CT12/14 R, supplied with adjust-able run-on-timer between 1 to 30 minutes.

Model SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage). Specially designed to operate within the shower or bath volume with total safety. They are rated 12V, Class III and IP57.

The MINIFAN consists of 2 moulded plasticcomponents secured with clips to ensure perfectairtightness and to facilitate ease of dismantling.The MINIFAN can be installed in many configurations, it can be fixed either on the wall, in a cupboard, under the ceiling or in an attic. The duct work can run in cupboards, false ceilings, lofts, etc.

Stage 1 External grilleOnce in position, the external grille is held bythree rubber plugs which allow the installer toassemble the interior section of the fan.

Stage 2 Support frameTo enable easy mounting of the support frame, the holes are tapered and the fixing screws can be located depending on the glass/panel thickness:

The STYLVENT series of fans are designed for speed of installation in three easy stages.

For a wall mounted installation it is necessary to use the extended threaded rod set (see Installation Accessories) Installation on walls from 25 to 300 mm thick

Before installation, rods must be cut to 5mm less than the thickness of the wall. Cut a hole in the wall in accordance with the dimensions shown in the table (to right). Ensure that internal wall mounting surface is as smooth as possible.

On the interior of the wall, mark the fixing hole positions using the support plate as a template.

Fit the threaded rods to the external guard usingthe threaded sleeves. Place the external grille into position and hold in place with the rubber plugs.

Then, the installation follows the same stages as in the glass installation except for the supportframe installation, which has to be fixed using 2 or 4 screws (HV-150, HV-230 and HV-300 models respectively).

The air curtains of the S range are designed to be installed in reduced spaces to create a barrier between two different areas. Because of the volume/power ratio, they also fulfi ll a purpose as a space heater.

The range S is made up of two models of 4 and 6 kW respectively, both with two heating powers, two speeds and ambient thermostat. They can also work at two speeds without heating.They create an effective barrier up to a distance of 1.5 m.The installation of this type of air curtain is recommended in cases such as kiosk windows, service windows that must be opened to assist the public, windows which, due to differences in temperature, have a tendency to steam up and make exterior vision diffi cult.
