Tablecloth

Table linen – it is a requisitive part of

 catering facilities and a component of

decoration.

Tablecloth – an element of table setting , it should look similar to the interior design. An appropriate size of the tablecloth should match an appearance of the table and comfort of the guests.

Banquet tablecloth - a tabecloth intended for laying long tables for parties with standing and sitting character. It is laid on long tables which are set in the same configuration.

Slip cloth (napperon) - a big tablecloth which comprises a decorqative part of the table, it is always laid in length or diagonally on the table.

Laufrs- big decorative tablecloths always with embroidery or lace. We can put flowers, candles and mirrors on it.

Skirt (skirtings) - gathered, ornamental flounces, used for decorating the sides of tables, usually for buffets. We attach it to the tablecloth at the height of the table top with the use of clasps or velcros.

Colours of the table linen The white table linen traditionally is applied for

laying tables to grand receptions and the dinner.

Tables are covered with coloured tablecloths to breakfasts and afternoon snacks and in cafés and restaurants of rustic insides.

• The assortment of the colour of tablecloths and napkins depends on the decor of the establishment and character of celebration.

• Tablecloths should be smooth with a discrete pattern.

• Appropriately coloured table linen is an indicator of the service level in a given eating place, as well as it complements the appearance of premises.

• The corners of the tablecloth should cover the legs of the table

• The overlap should be even all round the table: 30-40 cm

• The creases of the tablecloth should run the same way as the room

• If you are laying tablecloths for larger parties, overlap the two tablecloths with the overlap facing away

• from the entrence.

The type of the cover depends on the kind and the number of dishes served.

Direction of covering should be clockwise.
