THE WAVE SPRING 2014 PAGE ONE Here’s hoping that you’ve all weathered this very cold winter and are looking forward to spring as much as I am. One of the benefits of owning a seasonal business is that the winter months give me a chance to work with my team and reflect on the business and implement changes that will benefit you, our customers. Our model has always been one where customer service is our top priority. And with that we continue to make improve- ments in all three of our divisions, retail, service and construction, so you can have the best user experi- ence possible. Our retail stores will be undergoing a technology overhaul in 2014! While our employees will notice how much easier it is for them to do their jobs, you, the customer, will notice how quick and efficient the process of getting your water tested and completing your purchase has now become. Our new system ties into our water testing technology, reducing the amount of double keying and ultimately freeing up our staff to spend more time with you. Please stop by our Easton or Walpole stores opening April 1st to receive your Early Buy discounts. Steve Crowley (Easton Store Manager) and Jim Auld (Walpole Store Manager) and the rest of our retail our team will be happy to answer your questions and get you ready for the upcoming season. Our Service Department contin- ues to be second to none. Mike Santel oversees a top-notch staff that is professional, knowledgeable and efficient. Mike has instituted feed- back and training sessions with his team on an ongoing basis. These sessions include comprehensive discussions where Mike reviews feedback he has received from our customers regarding the quality of their service experience. This feed- back is both a tool for rewarding the team when we are exceeding your expectations, and also for making improvements in learning where we can do things better. In addition, Mike is providing his team with lots of hands-on experience at the job site when pools are being installed, to ensure they are learning the mechanics first-hand. When a service call comes in months or years later, the service technician will have a base knowledge of all the different types of pools and equipment we support. By closely monitoring your feedback, as well as our staff’s personal development, we create an environment for a customer experience that surpasses all others. Pool openings are the most anticipated activity of the spring season for our customers. However, since it happens just once a year, it’s easy to forget what you need to do to be ready.

To ensure that your pool is openedproperly and on time, please followthese four easy steps BEFORE yourscheduled opening date:

1. Remove ALL water and debrisfrom your cover. This step is impor-

tant so the mess on top doesn’t end up in your pool.

2. Bring the level of the pool to half way up the skim-

mer. Depending on your pool, thismay require you to pump water out,or add water to get to the correctoperating level.

3. Have all your pool equipment out and by the pool. This includesladders, rails, baskets, etc.

4. Make sure the electricity for thepumps is turned on.

Ever wonder what’s happeningonce our team gets to your house to open your pool? Once we arriveon site, assuming we are doing a fullopening, we will remove your coverand prepare it for storage.

We will then do a walk around yourpool and a visual survey. Does theliner look okay? Is the water levellower than usual? In the event we donotice something out of the ordinary,we will leave a note with your poolopening paperwork.

Next, we’ll re-install your laddersand handrails, remove all winter plugsand put all the baskets back in place.

The team will then get your filterset up and running in addition to testing the heater (if applicable)and other components to make surethey are all working properly.

This next step is very important, asthe results will serve as the guidelinefor the rest your pool season. Afteryour filter has run for 24 hours, takea water sample to one of stores andadd the applicable chemicals. Pleasenote: Easton Pool & Spa does not addchemicals at the time of opening

because of this prerequisite. Our retail staff will then test your

water using our state-of-the-art computerized system and provide you with a FREE analysis report showing what chemicals are required for your pool to run at its optimum level.

Take your printout and therecommended chemicals home andfollow the steps provided to addthem to your pool. Let the chemicalscirculate for 1 to 2 days, and then follow up with another visit to thestore to ensure your chemicals as balanced.

Your last step is to give the pool athorough vacuuming. Once that iscomplete, and you have your poolchemically balanced and the water iswarm enough: IT’S POOL TIME !

Remind the kids of your pool safety rules and enjoy the season!Remember, we are always here toanswer any questions you might have. Just give us a call!

If you have not called to scheduleyour pool opening yet, or are not onour automatic scheduling plan, pleaseemail [email protected] sothat we can add you to our calendar.

Wishing you all a very safe, warmand sunny 2014 swimming season!

In our Construction division, aswith our other divisions, we want tomake sure our customers can havetheir questions and concernsanswered as quickly and efficiently as possible. To that end we have responded to your feedback andimplemented a projectteam approach for each and every poolinstallation. As lead project manager, if I am not available, you will have directaccess to Rob Hobaica, Mike Santel,and/or Matt Machado for any questions you may have. In doingthis, we are giving our new pool

customers direct access to any oneof our four most trusted andtenured employees. We first implemented this model in the third quarter of 2013, and havereceived great feedback on its

effectiveness, and wewill continue this aswe move forward.

This season, BioGuard introducesSalt Scapes, Saltwater Pool Carechemicals. This new line is specifically designed to meet theunique needs of the growing saltwater pool market. Formulated forsalt pools, this line will work in conjunction with the Mineral Springsprogram.

For the chlorine pools that stillshock each week, we introduceBurnOut73! This will be the highest

percent of chlorine on the market at73%. (Existing BurnOut3 is 58%Chlorine). The new BurnOut73 alsodissolves better, taking care of resid-ual that sometimes settled on thebottom of the pool, which has beenfrustrating for some pool owners.

Wewill hold off on any price increasesuntil after our Early Buy Sale endson May 11th. We encourage youto take advantage of these terrificsavings! Our well-trained staff canhelp you find the right pool careprogram so that maintaining yourpool is as simple as 1-2-3 !

Don’t forget, once the pool water has been circulating for 24 hours, bring in your water sample to one ofour retail stores for your FREE computerized analysis. Wait to addany chemicals to the pool before youhave it tested to avoid costly metaland staining problems.

Of course, if you are opening upyour own pool, add D.E to the filter when you start up your filter. A water bottle, Tupperware container, or plastic bag is the bestway to bring in your water sample.Soda bottles and coffee cans can contaminate the sample even if youhave washed them out.
