Merry ChristmasDECEMBER 2018
2 3
FROM YOUR ROLDI PRESIDENT
The ROLDI Board wishes all of you a very Merry Christmas. During this busy time, we hope you will reflect on the “reason for the season” and show kindness to all around you. With all the rushing around and shopping, we tend to overlook the important things in life. Hold your families close and give them all your love.
Be sure to attend the ROLDI General Meeting on December 3rd. Nominations from the floor for your ROLDI Board of Directors will close at that meeting and elections will take place in January. With the coming of 2019, a new Board of Directors will be here to lead the way and we are also looking forward to our big Trash and Treasure sale at the end of the January. Keep those “treasures” coming, so we can have another successful year of great activities.
With that, may I personally thank all of you for your help and friendship during 2018 and wish you a blessed holiday season.
Judy Young, President ROLDI
CHRISTMAS DANCERick Norris will be playing for the Christmas Dance

TRASH AND TREASURE
Cynthia Carr is still welcoming new volunteers for this major event. It’s a big job and we need all the help we can get. If you have good, usable items for the sale, please call either Cynthia (706-499-6031) or Joe Joseph (239-599-4287) to schedule a pick up on a Tuesday or a Thursday after 1:00 p.m. Please note: we will not be able to take sleeper sofas, mattresses, or older TVs. If you have a box of small items, or clothing, it would be appreciated if you could hold on to them until the week before the sale. That way, we can better utilize our storage facility for larger things like furniture. The sale dates are Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. for residents; Friday, February 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday February 2 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon for the public.
BLOOD DRIVE COMING IN JANUARYThe annual Blood Drive will be here in front of the
South Hall on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be enough phlebotomists so there will be minimum wait time. Save a Life – Give Blood.
STREET CAPTAINSI hope all my street captains are holding on to the
newsletters for their homeowners’ return. I know this is an inconvenience, but your neighbors will want those newsletters when they arrive and it’s a good time to say “welcome back.” Please help us by taking a little extra effort to do this. Thanks. Judy Young, Editor

ACTIVITIES NEWSBy Terri Gieske, Chairpeson
1. Come join the fun at Karaoke! on December 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the North Hall with our hosts Jan and Dave Miller. Whether you come to sing, listen or eat, you are sure to have a great time with old and new friends. Where else can you get a giant hot dog or sloppy joe, a homemade side dish, chips, pop/water and homemade dessert for just $5.00?? And, we always sell out!! Food is served from 5:30-7:00 p.m. You can also bring your own food/snack and BYOB (B = beverage or booze). Hope to see you there.
2. If you have not been to our potluck dinners in the last year or so, you are missing out on great and plentiful food and desserts. We had 67 people at our first potluck this season! And boy was it yummy. Due to the Christmas holiday we will have only one potluck in December (we normally have two potlucks per month). Come and join us on December 11, 2018 and bring your place-settings and a plentiful dish or dessert to pass. Potluck dinners start promptly at 5:00 p.m. at the North Hall, so come a little early to get your seat and join old and new friends in this fun and delicious activity. Hope to see you there.
3. Are you interested in a Lazy Days Village T-shirt? If we have enough folks who want shirts, we will check on prices. The larger the order, the lower the price. We will need to order at least 25 to get a discount. If you are interested, Bev McIntosh will be at the ROLDI meeting on December 3rd or give her a call (765-969-8518) and let her know and we will go from there.
CRAFT ACTIVITY
Due to my broken ankle, our December craft activity is being moved to Thursday, January 10, 2019. It will be held in the North Hall from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Cost is $15.00 per person. This craft is hard to describe. It is a beautiful dried floral arrangement in a picture frame (see below). You can view our “live” example of this craft in the North Hall hanging near the bulletin board. Sign-up sheets will be posted in both halls. Please sign up and pay no later than January 3, 2019. Hope to see our many crafters at this event. For questions or payments, contact Terri Gieske or Alesia Kiser. Thank you.
LDPOA NEWS OUR FLAGSPublic Law 94-344, known as the Federal Flag Code,
contains rules for handling and displaying the U. S. flag. While the federal code contains no penalties for misusing the flag, state have their own flag codes and may impose penalties. The language of the federal code makes clear that the flag is a living symbol.
When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace.
FRIENDLY REMINDER OF A FEW OF OUR RULES AND REGS
XII. PETS 2. ALL pets and animals must be registered at the
office by completing the registration form. The pet/animal owner shall provide a picture of the pet. Current licenses, when required by law and vaccination information shall be updated yearly (or as applicable) and a veterinarian’s statement as to the breed, current weight and age of the
9
animal. The resident is responsible for visitor’s pet under the same terms and conditions as of the pet belonged to the resident.
3. Pets must not be left unattended. Pets are not allowed to run free.
4. Pets must be on a leash no more than 6 ft. in length (Lee County Law) and under control at all times when outdoors. They must be walked on PAVED STREETS OR COMMON AREAS ONLY.
XVII. MISCELLANEOUS4. Abusive or offensive language in prohibited in the
community.9. Do not feed wildlife. Wildlife includes feral cats. The Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, Amon other
groups, strongly recommends that people DO NOT feed the ducks. Their natural diet is comprised of vegetation and insects – both of which are abundant in our subtropical climate. Humans most often feed these animals bread and similar items. These have no nutritional value for the duck. Additionally, feeding by humans can make the ducks reliant on such hand-outs, and too lazy to continue foraging for their natural dietary items.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our community a safe and pleasant place to live.
REPORT ELDER ABUSEThere are five types of elder abuse: Physical abuse;
emotional/psychological abuse; financial/material ex- ploitation; sexual abuse; and neglect. If you suspect elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation, call the Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-96-ABUSE. This toll-free number is available 24 hours a day, every day. You can report any type of abuse to the Florida Abuse hotline. Reports are confidential and can be made anonymously.
ACH vs. BILL PAYBILL PAYReceiving late fees for your monthly maintenance
fees?Bill pay is a service by your bank to physically write
a check using your funds, printing and mailing it to the management company. The bank does this process physically, which can delay your payment by a few days, which in turn can make your payment late.
ACHThis process will electronically withdraw the funds
and wire/electronically transfer the funds. For this reason, the ACH option may be the better alternative.
ANOTHER OPTIONYour monthly payment can be brought to the LDV
office and Mr. Fojas will transfer your payment for you.
LDPOA ELECTIONSIn January, 2019, the LDPOA will conduct our annual
elections. There will be five positions open, as follows: President 2nd Vice President Secretary Treasurer Member at LargeNominations will be taken from the floor at the
December 2018 Shareholders monthly board meeting; then closed. Please consider how you may serve your community.
