As a final note, once again Isuggest to you, that just in casesome of the things that couldbecome worse in this countryactually happen, be prepared.Have a stash of canned anddried foods. Grow a garden.Raise chickens for eggs andeventually poultry meat.
Unfortunately, those of uswho stash food (meaning morethan 7 days supply of food) orare caught yawning, lookingbored or wearing a hoodie, buying guns or ammo), may betargeted by Homeland Securitypeople as potential “terrorists.”The answer to that is to be surewho you are dealing with, don’t go out in public whenyou are sleepy or don’t feellike looking “interested”, anddon’t wear hoodies in highlypublic places.
Another suggestion is thatyou maintain all your currentappliances and electronics andnot buy any of the new “smart”applicances” unless you want“big brother” watching yourevery move and controllingyour use of electricty and ofthe internet.
Of course, none of these sug-gestions have anything to dowith the Obama administra-tion. As we are told daily bythe mainstream media, weshould pray, “Obama’s good,Obama’s great. Let us thankhim for our GMO food andUSDA diet..”
May the true God of theBible be with you.

LAGARTO – March 12 – Mr.
Wayne Curry of Curry’s Nurs-
ery & Floral in Three Rivers,
was the guest speaker at the
March meeting of the Lagarto
Community Club. Members
and husbands heard sound ad-
vice concerning environment
friendly control for the weeds
in their yards as well as the
control of bugs, fungus and
other plant/yard diseases. Mr.
Curry brought several samples
of “friendly” products which
can be readily obtained from
local businesses. For his ef-
forts he was presented with a
copy of our book on the his-
tory of Lagarto compiled by
Hattie Mae Hinnant New.
For this meeting, St.
Patrick’s Day was the theme
selected by Connie Reardon
and Linda Avila. The decora-
tions were bright and green, as
one might guess, with the ex-
ception of the cake which
stood alone in recognizing
Texas Independence Day.
Linda distributed the words for
“Texas, Our Texas” and had
our talented ladies sing the
song along with her.
Barring any interference
from the weather, the painting
of trim on the outside of our
building (the Old Lagarto
Schoolhouse) should be com-
pleted soon. Peggy Barnett
has made the arrangements
with the contractor. And, here
is another big Thank You to
one of the husbands, Leonard
Keese, who has been helping
to get us straightened out with
the outdoor lighting problems.
Last year our booth at Pio-
neer Days in Orange Grove
was a huge success and so our
members have agreed to par-
ticipate once more. We can
sell raffle tickets and a few of
our craft items. I encourage all
who go to the Pioneer Days
celebration to come and visit
our booth.
Rummage sale items are fill-
ing up our back room and the
ladies have started pricing.
Flyers have been made and are
being distributed. In a couple
of weeks the signs will go up
and we should thank Linda
and Frank Avila for their work
and combined efforts in mak-
ing and getting our signs
placed in strategic places. Be
sure and mark your calendars
for April 14th to drive over to
Lagarto to check out the Rum-
mage/Vendor Sale. Vendors
are invited to set up for just
$10 a space and if you are in-
terested in participating you
should phone Lucy Cantu at
384-1527.
Our Mother’s Day “Mini”
Raffle will be held on May the
10th which is the Thursday be-
fore Mother’s Day. Prizes are:
Basket of Mary Kay Cosmet-
ics; Hand-crafted necklace;
$50 La Palmera Mall Gift Cer-
tificate; Chili’s $25 Gift Card.
Linda Black volunteered to
chair the raffle ticket commit-
tee and oversee the sale of
tickets.
It won’t be long before our
Scholarship Committee will
be hard at work but in the
meanwhile Cherie McGuire
volunteered to chair the Board
Nominating Committee. In
May we will award our schol-
arships AND elect our new
board of directors.
While our March meeting
wasn’t a particularly long
meeting, it was a busy one
ending with the door prize
going to Mary Salmons. April
12th we will meet again -
11:00 a.m.- Old Lagarto
Schoolhouse on FM 534.
Come and join us!
On April 14th we will have a
Spring Bazaar. The hours will
be from 9:00 AM to 3 PM. All
those who wish sell their crafts,
please contact Shirley Bradley
at 547-9774 or Elaine Doran at
547-9307. Cost is $10.00 per
table. Outside areas of approx-
imately 10'X 10' are also avail-
able. The last Bazaar in
November was a huge success
so we are expecting an even
better one this time. Bring
your family and friends.
Cookbooks are also for sale.
From Cousin Charles:
The food stamp program, part of the Department
of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the great-
est amount of food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the De-
partment of Agriculture, asks us to "please do not
feed the animals" because the animals may grow de-
pendent and not learn to take care of themselves.
And, behind our backs, the USDA is allowing
planting of GMO seeds on game preserves, nearly
guaranteeing infertility in offspring of wild game
who eat these GMO products.
To the Editor:
I would like to share the fol-
lowing observations regarding
the Houston Police Depart-
ment B.A.T. van scandal in-
volving the Harris County
District Attorney’s office.
There exists a strong appear-
ance that the D.A’s office im-
properly attempted to target
Amanda Culbertson, the for-
mer H.P.D.. Lab supervisor, for
blowing the whistle on the er-
roneous B.A.T. van testing re-
sults. Ms. Culbertson did the
right thing and she should have
been given a medal. District
Attorney Pat Lycos has been
caught making misleading and
contradicting statements about
her involvement in her “infor-
mal” investigation into the
grand jury that was looking
into her and her assistants’
abuse of power. The District
Attorney even admitted that
she ordered assistant D.A.
Rachel Palmer not to cooperate
with the grand jury. It is outra-
geous that the D.A.’s office
would conspire to keep infor-
mation from the people who
elect them and pay their
salaries.
Lastly, any entity that re-
ceives any money from the
Texas DWI surcharge program
like the Texas Department of
Public Safety or the Texas
Rangers since they are a part of
the DPS and cannot get within
an inch of the B.A.T. Vans for
testing, maintenance or any
other reason because it would
be a flagrant conflict of inter-
est. The Texas D.P.S. makes
money from every positive or
erroneous D.W.I. test that
leads to a conviction.

Do We Live In A Police State?
During the Bush administra-
tion, George W. created Presi-
dential Directive 51which
outlines a continuity of gov-
ernment plan after a “cata-
strophic emergency” has been
declared by the president. PD
51 is designed to have the
three branches of our govern-
ment to cooperate together, co-
ordinated by the president. PD
51 essentially consolidates all
delegated powers to govern-
ment into the executive
branch.
The Presidential Directive
defines a catastrophic emer-
gency to mean “any incident,
regardless of location, that re-
sults in extraordinary levels of
mass casualties, damage, or
disruption severely affecting
the U.S. population, infrastruc-
ture, environment, economy,
or government functions.” Al-
though the directive defines a
catastrophic emergency; the
definitions still remain vague.
Dr. Jerome Corsi, investiga-
tive journalist for WorldNet-
Daily.com, penned an article in
May of 2007entitled *Bush
Makes Power Grab; *where he
describes how Bush‘s dictato-
rial directive is unconstitu-
tional and points out the irony
of the directive claiming to up-
hold the Constitution. Only in
a country where we have
veered away from the Consti-
tution, can the claim be made
that it is Constitutional to sus-
pend the Constitution.
Thomas Jefferson under-
stood the nature of govern-
ment, which is why he wrote
the following: “The two ene-
mies of the People are crimi-
nals and government. So let us
tie down the second with the
Constitution, so that the sec-
ond does not become the le-
galised version of the first.”
Jefferson’s words indicate the
significant role the Constitu-
tion plays in our Republic.
Checks and balances are
needed for the success of a
government whose only role is
to protect our God-given Sov-
ereign Rights.
Without our Constitution,
God-given Rights become
harder to defend; and the Peo-
ple become subject to the gov-
ernment. But who has the
authority to strip us our God-
given Rights? Who has the au-
thority to declare themselves
supreme leader under the guise
of a “catastrophic emer-
gency?” Without the Constitu-
tion we lose the Bill of Rights;
thus removing habeas corpus
and due process. Without
habeas corpus, we are guilty
until proven innocent; which
makes everyone a suspect.
When everyone is a suspect
then the government treats the
public as penal institutions
treat their inmates: constant
identification at checkpoints,
random searches, and the oc-
casional strip search, not to
mention the pointless badger-
ing by those in uniform.
Sound like your nearest na-
tional airport?
March 16, 2012 President
Barak Obama issued an execu-
tive order, *National Defense
Resources Preparedness
*(NDRP). Obama’s EO is
practically identical to Bush’s
PD 51 with the exception that
Obama’s executive order can
be implemented in times of
peace or a national emergency.
At the very least, PD 51
needed a reason to be exe-
cuted. When the time comes
that a president decides to exe-
cute PD 51 or the NDRP, mar-
tial law will declared and all

What’s WrongWith this Picture

Nooz Flash: There is No Such
thing as “Separation of Church
and State” in America and
never has been.
Every single day both main-
stream media and alternative
media speak of “separation of
church and state” as though it
were part of the Constitution or
the First Amendment or per-
haps the Declaration of Inde-
pendence. This is simply a
falsehood. Nowhere in the
Declaration, the Constitution
or in any Constitutional
Amendment are the words
“separation of church and
state.”
Instead, the First Amend-
ment states:
“Congress shall make no lawrespecting an establishment ofreligion, or prohibiting the freeexercise thereof; or abridgingthe freedom of speech, or of thepress; or the right of the peo-ple peaceably to assemble, andto petition the Government fora redress of grievances.”
The origin of the phrase can
be traced to a letter that
Thomas Jefferson wrote in
1802 about the issue of reli-
gious freedom. An excerpt of
his letter says:
“I contemplate with sovereignreverence that act of the wholeAmerican people which de-clared that their legislatureshould 'make no law respectingan establishment of religion, prohibiting the free exercisethereof,' thus building a wall ofseparation between church andState.”
His use of the word “wall”
was simply a metaphor, noting
the separation of the govern-
ment from interfering with re-
ligious practice. The restriction
of the First Amendment is on
the government, not on the
people. At the very heart of Jef-
ferson's idea "Wall of Separa-
tion," is the notion that the
government will not interfere
with people's right to worship
God. The very fact that the
government has ruled to regu-
late religious practices, indi-
cates that the government has
crossed that "Wall of Separa-
tion."
It was the Supreme Court
who redefined the First
Amendment to say it called for
separation of church and state,
and millions of Americans and
the most of the media continue
to believe it calls for “separa-
tion of church and state.”
The only constitution I
know of that does include the
phrase “Separation of church
and state” is the constution of
the former U.S.S.R Commu-
nist State.
Excerpted from Wikipedia
“The year 1917 was a majorturning point for the history ofRussia, and also the Russian
Orthodox Church. The Russianempire was dissolved and theTsarist government - which hadgranted the Church numerousprivileges - was overthrown. After a few months of politicalturmoil, the Bolsheviks tookpower in October 1917 and de-clared a separation of churchand state. Thus the RussianOrthodox Church found itselfwithout official state backingfor the first time in its history. One of the first decrees of thenew Communist government(issued in January 1918) de-clared freedom from ‘religiousand anti-religious propa-ganda’.”
“After the October Revolu-tion of November 7, 1917, theofficially proclaimed objectiveof the Soviet Union was tounite all of the people of theworld in a communist statefree of "capitalist exploita-tion" (see Communist Inter-national). In such a worldviewany ethnic heritage closelytied to traditional religion andits clergy was targeted by theSoviet authorities. The SovietUnion was the first state tohave as an ideological objec-tive the elimination of reli-gion. Toward that end, theCommunist regime confis-cated church property, ridiculed religion, harassedbelievers, and propagatedatheism in the schools.”
When I was a student in high
school, there were announce-
ments over the P. A. every
morning. Included with the an-
nouncements was a prayer, pre-
sumably the thoughts of the
principal or just taken out of
some school prayer book and
delivered by the principal. I
paid no attention to them, as I
believed they were “canned
prayers” and had been taught
that those were not from the
heart. I also ignored them be-
cause they were not prayed “in
the name of Jesus.” However, I
never once felt that the school
was trying to indoctrinate me
into some particular religion. I
just assumed this was either a
school board policy or some
policy at my particular school,
silly though I thought it might
be. My only real beef was that
the prayer was immediately
followed by adulation of stu-
dent athletes, winners of various
contests and announcements of
little or no interest to students,
as though all things were justi-
fied if preceded by a prayer.
In our Brave New World, all
prayer seems to be the business
of the government and the
ACLU. It has nothing to do
with the first amendment and
nothing to do with the mythical
“separation of church and
state.” It has more to do with
the desire of the state to simply
completely eradicate religion
in favor of statist humanism,
just as the Russians did in the
USSR.
Pray for us all.
... No Such Thing as
Separation of Church
and State...
At the point of a gun...
Most people believe we no
longer have slavery in Amer-
ica. After all slavery was al-
legedly made illegal around
150 years ago. What is slav-
ery? When a human is forced
by threat of force to do some-
thing he or she would not will-
ingly do if it were not for the
dreaded consequences of NOT
doing it, that human becomes
a slave or a prisoner, even if it
is only temporary.
Slavery is alive and well in
American, perpetuated by the
federal government. The form
that comes to mind immedi-
ately because of the impending
income tax deadline is the
power of the Internal Revenue
Service to take your money
from you at the point of a gun,
and if you don’t comply, they
will come after you and charge
you with fines, interest and
possibly even jail. People lose
their homes and all other prop-
erty as a result of actions of the
IRS asking you for money that
you probably would not will-
ingly give to the government.
The only tasks the federal
government performs that I
would willingly pay for out of
my own earnings are to sup-
port military defense of Amer-
ican soil, social security
retirement benefits for those
already receiving them and de-
pendent upon them, and per-
haps maintenance of interstate
highways. I would not will-
ingly give one red cent to
“Community” organizations
like ACORN and its cousins,
nor to Planned Parenthood. I
would not subsidize Big Farma
or Big Pharma or labor unions.
I would not give my money to
subsidize research projects
whose end results are the result
that lobbyists or the govern-
ment administration desire. I
would not pay for members of
Congress to take expensive
overseas junkets, nor I would I
pay any of them the huge
salaries they receive and in-
credible health benefits not af-
forded to any of us except the
unbelievably wealthy. I would
not pay for Michelle’s exorbi-
tant vacations. This is only a
partial list. The key issue here
is that we are all (at least those
49% of us who pay income
taxes) enslaved by the income
tax. Even people whose in-
come is far below the poverty
level must pay a portion to the
IRS. (How is someone who
earns minimum wage sup-
posed to be self-supporting
while paying hundreds to the
IRS?)
Businesses that have em-
ployees are conscripted against
their will to withhold taxes
from employees paychecks,
and they do not get reimbursed
for being tax collectors for the
federal government. Instead, in
many cases, businesses need at
least one extra employee just
to handle payroll taxes and
withholding. This is at the
point of gun, as the penalties
for not doing this tax collection
function are terrible. No em-
ployer would willingly collect
these taxes. We are all slaves to
the IRS.
Another way the federal
government, as well as state
government, enslaves us is
through jury duty. If you re-
ceive a summons for jury duty,
especially U. S. District Court
jury duty, if you do not have a
government-approved exemp-
tion or a court-approved ex-
cuse and you do not show up
as requested, you can expect
an armed law-enforcement of-
ficer to knock on your door,
probably handcuff you (for
after all, you are now a crimi-
nal, according to the Court, not
by law) and take you to jail in
addition to slapping a huge
fine on you.
I was recently summoned
for U. S. District Court jury
duty. My first thought was,
‘What if I am selected and the
trial lasts for several days?
What will happen to my busi-
ness? I will be destitute if my
business fails.’ I found out that
a juror in U. S. District Court
receives $40 per day. Hmmm.
That’s $5.00 per hour assum-
ing an eight-hour day. When
did I last work for $5.00 per
hour? I believe it was in 1973,
when gas was about 39 cents a
gallon, rent on nice apartment
was less than $150 per month,
and a pound of ground meat
was about 39 cents. Then I find
out that the Court will also pay
mileage for those of us who
live a long ways from the
courthouse. However, the
money is paid AFTER I have
paid for it. In other words, I am
expected to loan the govern-
ment the cost of my gas, inter-
est free, because I have to pay
at the pump long before re-
ceiving any reimbursement. I
find that because I live more
than 50 miles from the court-
house, if required to return to
court the following day, I can
again loan the government the
cost of a hotel room and be re-
imbursed later.
I could probably have asked
for and received a doctor’s ex-
cuse explaining a medical rea-
son why I should be exempted
from jury duty, but, frankly, I
did not wish to spend $80 for a
doctor visit simply to request
such a letter. The courts do not
seem to understand that getting
a letter from a doctor does not
come free and not everyone
can afford it.
Although it would not bank-
rupt me to pay the gas and to
pay for a hotel room if neces-
sary, as long as I would even-
tually be reimbursed, I thought
about this for days on end. My
summons also said that men
had to wear a coat and tie and
women had to be “appropri-
ately dressed.” Wow, that’s not
very specific. I assumed that
“appropriately dressed” meant
just to not dress in the trashy
sort of clothing that shows bra
straps and every body bulge,
but, just to be sure, I called the
court and asked what “appro-
priate dress” was. I was told to
wear what I wore to church. I
explained that I didn’t regu-
larly attend church and that if I
did, I would probably wear
jeans. She said I could wear
jeans “as long as the jeans are
freshly pressed.” Not wishing
to argue, I thanked her and
hung up. My conclusion was
that I was supposed to take my
jeans to the cleaners, 60 miles
round trip, and have them
starched and pressed, then pick
them up, another 60 miles
round trip. However, since I
have “wash-and-wear” jeans, I
decided to take my chances
without the additional expense.
Three days before I was to
appear, I filed the proper docu-
ment to be excused. I decided
that my own life and livelihood
took precedence over my
brainwashed thought that “it
was my duty to serve.” The af-
ternoon before I was to appear
I received a call from a
doubtlessly overpaid clerk to
tell me my request had been
submitted to “The Magistrate”
and denied. I set an alarm
clock for the next morning, as
I knew I had to get up during
the night to leave home in time
to get to the courthouse on
time. Since my perceptions are
off kilter when I drive at night,
I had to enlist a friend to drive
me. Once I arrived I was asked
if I had any lighters. Huh? Do
they think I’m going to set the
courthouse on fire with my
trusty Zippo? I had to empty
my pockets and have my purse
run through some sort of x-ray
machine. Then I had to walk
through some sort of machine
be “officially” seized by gov-
ernment.
Would you believe me if I
told you that we do not need
PD 51 or the NDRP to be exe-
cuted, to be living in a police
state? Would you believe me
if I told you that, “the police
state isn’t coming; it’s here?”
Unfortunately, the police state
is here and many Americans
are floating in denial. Under
the Obama administration we
have witnessed political dissi-
dents punished career-wise and
even allegedly assassinated.
Take for example the closing
of many General Motors deal-
erships who did not support the
2008 “Hope and Change” cam-
paign; or the supposed “con-
spiracy theory” of the
assassination of Andrew Briet-
bart, the investigative journal-
ist who brought down ACORN
and who was set to release
“damning footage” of Obama
involved in communist’s meet-
ings discussing the overthrow
of our Republic. Breitbart died
in the early hours of March 1,
2012; the exact same date that
Breitbart had told his close
friend, nationally syndicated
radio talk show host Eric
“Mancow” Muller that he
planned on releasing the
footage on March
1st. Although the “unedited
footage” was aired on FOX’s
Sean Hannity Show, many be-
lieve that that footage is not the
damning evidence Breitbart
claimed to have during his
speech at the 2012 CPAC con-
vention. Regardless of how
you consider the information
concerning Breitbart’s death; it
is hard to deny the facts and
dismiss his death as natural,
which is how the media swiftly
headlined the story approxi-
mately two hours after his re-
ported passing.
In a totalitarian government,
political dissent is not tolerated
and will be dealt with. If you
are not convinced that Breit-
bart was silenced because of
his anti-Obama rhetoric, would
two more examples suffice to
prove my point that the First
Amendment is no longer toler-
able, especially in a police
state? Former Republican Pres-
idential Candidate Pat
Buchanan and former New Jer-
sey Superior Court Judge An-
drew Napolitano; both hosted
programs on prominent news
channels such as MSNBC and
FOX Business. Dr. Paul Craig
Roberts, former Assistant Sec-
retary of Treasury under
Ronald Reagan, described
Buchanan and Napolitano as
“the last two remaining critics
of Washington/Tel Aviv impe-
rialism [who] were removed
from the mainstream media.”
Examples such as Breitbart,
Buchanan, and Napolitano
only help to make the case that
opposition to the administra-
tion will not be tolerated. There
sure were not too many public
dissenters under Hitler, Stalin,
Lenin, and Zedong. It is no se-
cret how every dictator rules
with an iron fist by instilling
fear, prosecuting dissenters,
and constant surveillance of his
subjects by any means possi-
ble.
One way to have an eye in
every home is to brainwash the
public into believing that your
neighbor could possibly be the
newest threat our nation faces
today; that is homegrown ter-
rorism. Secretary of the De-
partment of Homeland
Security Janet Napolitano ini-
tiated the “If You See Some-
thing, Say Something”
See “Slavery”

"A great wave of oppressivetyranny isn´t going to strike, but rather a slow seepage ofoppressive laws and regula-tions from within will sinkthe American dream of liberty."
~ George Baumler (Libertarian, Blogger‘Baumler´s Rant´)
that I suppose was a metal de-
tector. I crossed my fingers
that the rivets on my jeans
would not set off an alarm.
That would probably set me up
for a “full body search.”
Once I cleared the entrance,
I went to the designated “jury
assembly” room. There were
about 200 very expensive
wooden chairs jammed right
up next to each other, reminis-
cent of a movie theater. There
were two or three women
checking in the summoned. I
was told not to leave the room
after checking in. I was, in
other words, in jail, and these
women were the guards. Im-
plied was that I could be held
in contempt of court if I left the
room. There were about 35-40
other people there, with all of
the women wearing “Sunday-
go-to-meetin’” clothes and
most of the men in suits. Some
of the men were wearing a coat
and tie but with jeans and
boots, thereby complying with
the “coat and tie” requirement.
I checked in five minutes be-
fore deadline, expecting things
to move right along. After 30
minutes of sheer boredom, all
of us sheeple were herded to
the front of the room and told
to sit in order of some numbers
assigned to us. In this huge
room, with at least 200 chairs,
we were jammed elbow-to-
elbow, just like at a crowded
theater, with strangers. We
were then told we would be
taken upstairs to the courtroom
“in about fifteen minutes,” ad-
monished to stash any books
we might have in handbags or
to abandon them (the judge
wanted all eyes are ears on
her?) and again admonished
not to the leave the room. The
sheeple remained in their
elbow-to-elbow prescribed
seats to wait out the next waste
of time, but it was a very large
room, so I arose from my mid-
dle-of-a-row seat and alterna-
tively paced the floor and sat in
a back row seat alone. I asked
one of the “guards” when we
would get a break to go out-
doors. The reply was “when
the judge calls for a break.”
After about five minutes, one
of the women guarding us ap-
proached me and told me that
“The Magistrate” had turned
over my request to be excused
to the District Judge and that
she (the judge) had excused me
from jury duty on the basis of
the document I had submitted
explaining why I should be ex-
cused. Extremely relieved, I
left as soon as possible. My
day was ruined because I had
not had enough sleep and had
suffered a great deal of anxiety
for being subjected to this
whole process, fearing for loss
of my income as well as other
matters. As I began to realize
that not only was I there
against my will and only be-
cause I could be imprisoned
and exorbitantly fined for no-
show, I searched the internet
for information about jury
duty. There were some very
well-done essays on why jury
duty is unconstitutional and in-
fringes on rights guaranteed by
several of the amendments as
well. While it is not the pur-
pose of this article to present
all this material, there is a good
site at:
http://sites.google.com/site/end
juryduty/
This site details why jury
duty is wrong, unconstitu-
tional, against the Declaration
of Independence and a clear
denial of nearly all of our
rights as citizens, among them:
“liberty...and the pursuit of
happiness,” a violation of gov-
ernment “deriving their just
powers from the consent of the
governed,” abridging of right
of freedom of speech and the
right of the people to assemble
peaceably.... There are many
more. Visit this website men-
tioned above to read the entire
treatise.
Fortunately, I am still in
business and am not going to
be forced into the jury duty I
could not afford to participate
in. Who is complying with jury
duty? People for whom $40 a
day exceeds what they are now
earning, people who are home-
less, people who are bored and
have nothing better to do, peo-
ple who think the duty could
put them “in the limelight” and
get them a “spot on national
television,” and people who
believe it is their patriotic duty
to respond to a jury summons.
For most people, jury duty is
simply a choice between going
to jail and being fined or sub-
mitting themselves to involun-
tary servitude (slavery) for an
indeterminate period of time at
the whim of the powerful and
well-paid judge.
From that article, in support
of jury duty being a violation
of statute law in all fifty states:
“False Imprisonment —Thewhole purpose of criminal tri-als is to determine who isguilty and who is innocent, andto punish the guilty with im-prisonment and to reward theinnocent with return to free-dom, but jury duty punishes theinnocent with imprisonmentevery time it forces non-con-senting jurors to remain insidecourtrooms. And make nodoubt about it, jury duty is aprison sentence absolutely:Jurors are not free to go wherethey want or do what theywant, to pursue their interests,to be with loved ones, or evento work. Sometimes they areeven sequestered at night—though no other participant inthe trial is ever so sequestered, except perhaps the accused, but never our hypocriticalcourt officials themselves—cutoff from all contact with theirfamilies and their friends. They are held against their willin places not of their ownchoosing, often quite far awayfrom their homes, enduring ei-ther the tedium of waiting to becalled to a trial, or, if not natu-rally inclined towards this typeof work, the torture of notbeing able to move from theirseats for long periods of timeonce the trial starts. The courtactually treats convicts betterthan it does jurors—at leastconvicts get free food, freemedical care, free movementwithin their cells, and visitors!
And because trials in theUnited States are permitted toextend for unlimited duration, the prison sentences imposedon jurors can last for years. And jury duty also imprisonsjurors even when they are notcurrently serving on a jury, be-cause they cannot take vaca-tions or otherwise leave thearea of their residence at thetime of year when they are sup-posed to be available at hometo answer the jury summons. Ifthey do not answer the jurysummons as soon as it comesin the mail then they are finedor jailed—good, honest peoplebeing falsely criminalized justfor traveling! Jury duty makeslaw-abiding citizens prisonersin their own homes as well asin our courtrooms, oppressesthem all the year long, anddominates every facet of theirlives. In a country where juryduty is practiced, no one isever truly free.”
This article suggests that the
best solution would be to have
a pool of professional, trained
jurors who work for a decent
income for the courts. It is an
interesting thought.
When I began this article, I
was concerned chiefly with the
IRS and with jury duty. Today,
March 17, 2011, I find what
could be the final nail in the
coffin to enslave us and reduce
us all to abysmal poverty, dep-
rivation and potential impris-
onment: On March 16 , 2012,
Our Dictator, The One, The
Tyrant, The One who hates
America and everything it
stands for, signed a new Exec-
utive Order. By way of back-
ground, we already have the
Rural Council Executive Order
in support of the UN’s Agenda
21 to take over the entire world
in the name of “Sustainablity”
and “Communism” and “Smart
Growth,” all of which are plans
in support of a “New World
Order.” Additionally, we have
the NDAA of 2012 which al-
lows for detention of any
American citizen anywhere in
the world, even in the United
States. We now live in a coun-
try in which our own military
can detain us on our own
ground. Now we have the lat-
est Executive Order which out-
lines how martial law will be
implemented in America, dur-
ing peacetime, no war needed,
not even a “natural disaster,”
just a nod from the President.
There have been other simi-
lar executive orders in the past
in which times war was immi-
nent, and the orders pertained
to an actual attack on the
United States. This new EO by
BHO includes during peace-
time and includes the ability of
Homeland Security to virtually
take over the country with
arms – at the point of a gun.
What is the POTUS thinking?
An imminent war with Iraq?
Riots in the streets? A revolu-
tion against his regime? To de-
clare martial law before the
November elections just in
case he’s behind in the polls?
While searching the internet
for opinion pieces regarding
this EO, I came upon the web-
site “Canada Free Press.”
Most intriguing is the subtitle
which states “...Because with-
out America there is no Free
World..” All the articles I have
read so far pertain to America.

Look to the old Irish proverb
for getting by in life now that
Barack Obama has signed off
on the highly suspicious “Na-
tional Defense Resources Pre-
paredness” Executive Order:
May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head
be always strong.
And may you be in heaven half
an hour before the devil knows
you’re dead.
The proverb is both perfect
for our troubled times and in
the timing of Obama’s latest
EO, coming onto the radar
screen the day before Saint
Patrick’s Day.
The proverb’s last line “And
may you be in heaven half an
hour before the devil knows
you’re dead” can be especially
equated to so-called ‘preppers’
and Obama.
In a shorter version it can be
translated to, “Don’t panic, just
prep!”
You don’t have to take to the
hills to be off of the Obama
regime radar screen.
Short of a nuke, Obama’s
mentors and minions cannot
possibly get to every American
household. Their adulated he-
roes have been trying to spring
One World Government on the
masses for the last century.
They have not met with suc-
cess.
Ominous as they look,
Obama’s team is not up to
snuff. The unelected czars in
his Shadow Party like to sit
around talking as they ‘foment’
for a revolution that never
comes. While the czars are
toking up and talking, you are
installing new shelving for
your non-perishables.
Obama and his czars hang
out with Hollywood stars
whose world is one of Make
Believe. Surviving life’s strug-
gles are above the pay grade of
losers like Tom Hanks, Alec
Baldwin et al. They would
need to be pumped up by late-
morning coffee lattés before
making it to the front lines of
any Revolution. Besides,
wouldn’t girding their loins for
coming battles interfere with
their time at the gym? Staying
in shape is everything when
the unforgiving silver screen is
your chief means of making a
living.
Start identifying and picking
off the props that keep Obama
hiding behind his well manu-
factured public perception.
Notice how he’s managed to
dodge any possibility of loudly
booing crowds by handpicking
colleges and universities in
which to deliver his “I’ll-Save-
The-World-From Nasty Amer-
ica” TelePrompter rendered
speeches?
Much of what Obama does
aims to demoralize, and even
frighten off detractors, like the
March 16, Big Brother “Na-
tional Defense Resources Pre-
paredness” Executive Order.
The American Government
had already taken control of
energy, food and water. The
March 16 signing only made it
official.
Remember that optics and
perception are not much more
than political tools from
Obama’s capacious bag of
dirty tricks.
The picture of Michelle
climbing out of a limousine to
catch Airforce 1 for another
getaway, in cut off shorts. That
picture shouted a kind of in-
your-face defiance like “I’m
looking like that because I can
and no one can do anything
about it,” or, “I show no re-
spect for the office of First
Lady because I don’t have to.”
Family Portuguese water
dog Bo and even the Obama
daughters are pulled out as oc-
casional campaign props.
Come to think about it, what
other going-on-13-year-old girl
is seen in pictures holding
Mommy and Daddy’s hand?
Don’t most kids that age go
through a period when they
don’t want to be seen hanging
out with their parents, let alone
be spotted holding their hands?
Preppers will be the sur-
vivors no matter how nefarious
the latest government plan.
Don’t wait for politicians of
any stripe to come and save
you. Save yourself because
your family depends on you.
While Obama zombies
pester folk for “just $3 more”,
form neighborhood cells with
people of like mind, build on
human resources like first re-
sponders, retired doctors, hunt-
ing and hiking experts and
good chefs.
Banish any thoughts of rel-
atives poking fun of preppers
in the family. They will be the
first at their door if and when
the food and water runs out.
Hum the refrain of songs
like Hip Hip Hooray, Livin’ in
the USA as you stock your
pantry or larder.
Ignore the talking heads on
television networks, watch
rented movies from an era
when Hollywood really had
talent, instead.
The “National Defense Re-
sources Preparedness” EO is a
bid for total Marxist control of
the USA. It is not the fault of
George W. Bush; not the fault
of any other president. It is
here and now.
Identify reality for what it
truly is and not the one manu-
factured by the man with no
provable identity.
America has been teetering
on the edge ever since Barack
Obama gained the White
House, and it’s been the poli-
tics of Marxism ever since.
Don’t buy into fallacy no
matter who’s spouting it on air
or online. Obama is not in
over his head. He’s not partic-
ularly incompetent or stupid.
He knows what he is doing.
He works to take America
down.
Grab hold of your children,
your friends, people of like
mind and make your house-
hold as independent of govern-
ment as possible. Grab hold of
commonsense and keep it with
you through all the dark days
ahead.
Bug out and bunk up.
Return to and cling to the at-
titude held by your parents and
grandparents. Share with fam-
ily and friends, be a good
neighbour just as passing gen-
erations were. Wait the blan-
kety-blank enemy out in the
comfort of your own home,
knowing in your heart that
nowhere throughout history
has any despot ever lasted for-
ever.
And finally for all of those
who first ignored the “National
Defense Resources Prepared-
ness” EO when it became
known and then jumped into
the “it’s nothing new; America
has always had EOs like that
over the years”, here is the de-
termining question to come
back to reality:
Would you trust any execu-
tive order signed by a guy who
unabashedly states his life’s
mission as the Fundamental
Transformation of America?
campaign in July 2010. The
DHS website describes the
campaign as–“a simple and ef-
fective program to raise public
awareness of indicators of ter-
rorism and violent crime and to
emphasize the importance of
reporting suspicious activity to
the proper state and local law
enforcement
authorities”
Every law abiding citizen al-
ready knows to report suspi-
cious activity, yet
Napolitano feels that it is nec-
essary to remind us to “be
aware” of “suspicious” behav-
ior as if we are children that
need constant reminding. It
gets worse. When you read
documents released by Fusion
centers, central intelligence in-
stitutions that track any poten-
tial domestic terrorism and
information on how to identify
such behaviors.
Believe it or not, the Texas
Department of Public Safety
Highway Patrol released a
pamphlet defining a potential
terrorist as one who projects a
“nice guy” image. Another in-
dictor may be if someone buys
baby formula or other non-per-
ishable goods in bulk. The
document went as far as de-
scribing those that wear Levi
jeans and sunglasses, and those
that use cell phones, especially
prepaid phones, and who pay
in cash.
In February 2009, the Mis-
souri Information Analysis
Center (MIAC), a fusion cen-
ter, released their strategic re-
port: *The Modern Militia
Movement.* The report’s in-
tent is that of the Texas DPS
pamphlet. MIAC identified
those who hold a “Christian”
belief or consider themselves
Sovereign Citizens, whom re-
fuse to pay taxes while proudly
waving a Gadsen flag, as a po-
tential domestic terrorist. Ac-
cording to the report, if you
anticipate an economic col-
lapse partially due to illegal
immigration, you may be a ter-
rorist. You may also be a ter-
rorist if you support Ron Paul
or Bob Barr; or talk about the
Constitution!
The New Jersey Office of
Homeland Security and Pre-
paredness has also released a
report titled: *Terrorism
Awareness and Prevention,
where the report lists yawing,
staring, and goose-bumps as an
indication of “suspicious be-
havior.” Indications of a poten-
tial domestic terrorist as
defined by these fusion centers
are laughable, albeit it is no
laughing matter when you fac-
tor in the National Defense Au-
thorization Act signed by
Obama on New Year’s Eve of
2011. As a reader of The Lakeand Country Shopper, you al-
ready understand that the
NDAA “authorizes” the presi-
dent to indefinitely detain any-
one the president deems a
terrorist, without due process;
and the likely hood of being
shipped off to a secret prison,
perhaps in Egypt, and tortured
and killed.
When Obama ordered the
assassination of Anwar al-Al-
walki, an American born Imam
who was the most wanted Al-
Qaeda member after the re-
ported assassination of Osama
bin Laden; a precedent was set
where American Citizens
could be assassinated by our
own government. Under the
NDAA, the assassination is
“justified” and “legal.” And fi-
nally, with fusion centers re-
ports describing people like
me, and perhaps, you and your
loved ones as potential terror-
ists, we have the chance of
falling victim to the NDAA. I
don’t know how you feel about
all this, but it horrifies me.
It is important to note that
State fusions centers are linked
with the DHS. Why? Well,
Napolitano’s “If You See
Something, Say Something”
campaign relies on the public
recognizing “suspicious activ-
ity” indicative of possible “ter-
rorism” and the definitions of
terrorists are possibly anyone.
If you still remain unconvinced
that we already live in a police
state, how about we consider
the idea of conditioning the
public for the official declara-
tion of martial law.
When martial law is de-
clared, either through PD 51 or
the NDRP, the Second Amend-
ment, along with the rest of the
Constitution, will be rescinded
and all guns will be confis-
cated. There may be reluctance
from Citizens to hand-over
their arms; but I feel that many
will comply. For those that bla-
tantly refuse to surrender the
only form of protection they
have, plans have been made
and exercised for such an oc-
casion.
In February 1999, Black-
hawk helicopters descended
upon Kingsville, Texas, in an
exercise known as Operation
Last Dance. The elite Delta
Force attacked and secured
two abandoned buildings that
evening. The small community
had no clue of the on-going ex-
ercise. Many neighboring resi-
dents were terrified from the
live rounds and grenades being
used.
WorldNetDaily.com swiftly
sent investigative journalist
and nationally syndicated radio
talk show host, Alex Jones to
Kingsville to report on the in-
cident. Jones learned that the
Kingsville Police Department
had secured a perimeter around
the downtown area where the
abandoned buildings stood.
According to Lt. Judy Hayes
of the KPD, local law enforce-
ment participated, in what they
were told, was a mock haz-
ardous spill in the designated
area, with the United States
Army. Lt. Hayes denies
knowledge of the nature of the
Army’s exercise.
Jones also spoke with the
Federal Emergency Manage-
ment Agency coordinator
for Kingsville, Tomas
Sanchez. Sanchez is a deco-
rated Vietnam War veteran
who has experience in special
operations with security clear-
ance. Sanchez had no knowl-
edge of the Delta Force
exercise and referred to the
Blackhawks invading the city
as “quite frightening” for the
citizens of the small town.
When asked what he thought
the purpose of the exercise
was, Sanchez told Jones,
“Martial law has been declared
through presidential powers
and war powers act, and some
citizens have refused to give
up their weapons. They have
taken over two of the buildings
in Kingsville. The police can-
not handle it. So you call these
guys in. They show up and
they zap everybody, take all
the weapons, and let the local
P.D. clean it up.”
The evidence of a police
state, or the conditioning for
one, has never been conse-
quently acute. The examples I
have outlined are merely a few
out of many; with no doubt,
many more to come, that de-
scribe a police state. I hope that
this article will prompt you to
question my assertions, and re-
search the information; if not
to confirm what I have written,
but to try to contest the infor-
mation and the reality of the
world we live in.

There is no such thing as “fatand happy.” Any happiness fatpeople may experience that isnot directly related to havingjust eaten carbohydrate-ladencomfort food is a way of de-luding themselves and fightingthe ensuing depression. Fatpeople rarely leave home, as itis hard to find great-looking fatpeople clothes. When it comesto women’s clothing, the man-ufacturers often believe fatwomen have very poor taste inclothes or will not spend themoney for nice-lookingclothes. Both may be true. After all, if you are wearing ablouse with cute little ap-pliques or cartoons, it relievesyour friends from having tosay, “Wow, you great in thoseclothes,” and instead, they areoff the hook by saying, “Ohwhat a cute applique.”
At one time in my life Iweighed over 400 pounds. At5'2" I was just a blob witharms, legs and a head stickingout. I was so unhappy that I at-tempted suicide by drivingalong a beach with every in-tention of driving into the surfand drowning myself. A verykind man, who happened to bea doctor, perceived what I wasdoing, stopped me and savedmy life. He took me to a hospi-tal where I was put on a verystringent diet and kept formany weeks. I lost about 200lbs. However, after I was re-leased, I could not stick witheating so little, so I gainedabout 100 lbs. At age 40, nomatter how much I tried to loseweight via various highly pro-moted and expensive dietplans, I usually gained.
Then I tried Weight Watch-ers, but my twisted mindthought that I could eat what-ever I wanted in addition to theWeight Watchers plan, and Ihated counting all those“points.” I gained some moreweight. I can joke now abouthaving “Omar the Tentmaker”making my clothes for me.Back in those days, XL was thelargest size women’s clothing, intended for women who weremuch, much taller than I wasand of normal size. I had to buycustom-ordered bras becausethe stores simply didn’t carrysize 52 G – yes, you read thatright.
I never looked at myself in afull-length mirror. After all, Ihad a pretty face, pretty eyes. Idid not want to see the rest. Iremained for many years in de-nial of just how fat I was.Today I see, on a daily basis, somany people in denial. Theseare the men who look like theyhave a basketball embeddedunder the skin over their jeansand whose shirts gape open atthe waistline. These are thewomen who waddle becauseit’s so hard to carry all thatweight around or look like theyare pregnant, but they are not. These are the women whoseclothes are always too tight. Both men and women whoselower legs splay outward insome sort of overcompensationfor having to carry all that extraweight with legs meant to carryso much less weight.
I tried the ubiquitous, gov-ernment-approved low-fat,high-carb diet. I gained about40 pounds on that one, mainlybecause when it came to car-bohydrates, especially yeastbread products, I couldn’t stop.It was nothing to eat half a loafof homemade bread at one sit-ting or a huge plate ofspaghetti, followed by another
one. Hey, I was eating low-fat,high-carb. I even thought if Iate only whole wheat bread, like the government suggests, that it would help. It didn’t.
Eventually I was edging upon “old-age” and still weighed280 pounds, more than twiceas much as I should weigh formy height. At least stores likeWalmart carried size Women’s(translate “fat women’s”) sizes3X and 4X and I was down toa bra size of 46-EE. Whatcould I do? After all, I was adoctor. There’s an old saying“Physician, heal thyself!” Thefunny thing is that it is veryhard for any kind of doctor tobe objective about his or herown health.
Today, I weigh 180 poundsand am still losing, looking for140. I hate exercise and neverdo it on purpose. It is boring. In fact I often wonder whyanyone likes to exercise. I be-lieve in “Miss Piggy’s” atti-tude: “Why would anyone rununless someone was chasingher?” So, you may be askinghow I did it. Did I give up eat-ing? Did I deny myself deli-cious food? Did I give upthinking about food nearly allthe time? No, no and no.
A friend of mine developedType 2 diabetes. She wasabout 45 pounds overweight. She did not want to take thedrugs the medical establish-ment was prescribing for her.Instead, after much research inbooks and on the internet, shecame upon a solution. Warn-ing: This is not a diet. Dietingdoes not work. I have morethan forty years experience tobe able to reliably tell you thatDIETS DON”T WORK. Sure, you can lose some weight onalmost any “weight-loss pro-gram.” But, you will gainevery pound back and thensome as soon as you leave theprogram or even “cheat” on it.I learned from my friend that ittakes a total lifestyle change. Ittakes a complete change inwhat you eat, not in how manycalories you eat or how muchfat you eat or in the quantitiesof food you eat (you will soonautomatically eat less).
I have lost 100 pounds overthe last two years and am stilllosing, using this lifestylechange. My friend has lost her45 pounds now has normalblood sugar all day long. If shewere to change doctors todayand have blood tests com-pleted, she would not be diag-nosed with diabetes or any ofits side effects, although a glu-cose tolerance test would prob-ably suggest otherwise.
Here is a very simply way toaccomplish this:1) Cut out all soft drinks, even“sugar-free” soft drinks. In-stead, drink decaf iced teasweetened with liquid stevia (anatural herbal sweetener avail-able in big city health foodstores and on the internet),water or sparkling water.2) Cut out all processed foods– meaning everything that isready to eat, ready to heat, ready to cook, ready to bake, all mixes, “helpers,” – any-thing you can’t buy on theouter edges of the grocerystore. Forget about stuff like“Lean Cuisine” or “low-fat,low-calorie frozen meals.”3) Throw everything out ofyour house that has any of thefollowing ingredients:
Flour, sugar, enriched flour, wheat flour, whole wheat flour, sugar, high fructose cornsyrup, anything with an ingre-dient ending in -ose or -ol, anykind of artificial sweetener, and all low-fat products. Thismeans you throw out or giveaway all pasta, tortillas, bread, crackers, flour, masa, sugarand syrups. Your new way ofeating is just as good for therest of your family as it is foryou. When you put food on thetable, take the hard line: “Eatthis, or don’t eat at all, or useyour own money to go out andeat bad food.”4) Never, absolutely never, eatbreaded fried foods or frenchfries. (If you are traveling andin a pinch, buy a fried chickenbreast and remove all the crustbefore eating, every singlescrap of it.)5) Never eat any food that iswhite (with the exception offull-fat mayonnaise and limitedfull-fat dairy products.)6) Throw away all oil otherthan olive oil, lard and coconut

Lulabelle’s Household Hints
The TexasCountryChef
by Penny Peavy
First, boil three dozen eggs
and expect about six of them to
come out of the shell less than
perfect (eat those right away or
make some sort of salad with
them). That should leave you
with at least 30 good smooth
whole eggs.
Ingredients for Pickled Eggs
30 hard boiled eggs
2 Tbs. kosher salt or sea salt
2 Tbs. mustard seed
1 Tbls. celery seed
2 Tbs. pickling spice
6 jalapenos or serano peppers,
sliced horizontally
6 cloves fresh garlic
1 can whole beets
6 cups white vinegar
2 cups cider vinegar
Directions:
1) Place all ingredients except
eggs, 1/2 of the peppers and
the garlic in a sauce pan. Bring
to a boil.
2) Meanwhile, sterilize three
quart-size canning jars and
lids. When jars are sterilized,
place garlic, remainder of pep-
pers and ten eggs in each jar.
3) Pour boiling mixture from
step 1 into each jar, spooning
the seasonings and the beets
proportionately among the jars.
Put lid on immediately, along
with ring so that as it cools it
will seal. Tighten rings. After
cooled to room temperature,
refrigerate. Use jars that may
not have sealed first.
At my house, three quarts of
boiled eggs only last for about
one month, so I do not worry
too much about whether the
jars sealed or not. To find out
more about longer term storage
of pickled eggs, consult a can-
ning/pickling expert.
This recipe is very easy and
well worth doing.
Tip: If you are using very fresh
eggs, let them age a couple of
weeks before boiling. They
will be easier to peel after boil-
ing.

oil.7) After throwing out all thefoods you should never eatagain, go to the grocery storeand buy meat, poultry, porkand fish – lots of it. Buy freshcabbage, kale, collards, mus-tard greens, spinach and saladgreens. Buy extra virgin oliveoil and pure olive oil (for fry-ing, without breading ofcourse.) Buy mozzarellacheese sticks for snacks as wellis some hard cheeses. At first, avoid all milk dairy products, such as cottage cheese and yo-gurt (they can be added whenyou are close to your goalweight.) You may also add al-monds and avocado after thefirst two weeks.
Start with a breakfast of eggsfixed anyway you like. Fried isfine if fried in olive oil or but-ter. Cook some bacon or a porkchop. Add a slice of tomato.
For lunch try a tuna salad, with plenty of added boiledeggs, a small amount of onionand diced dill pickle (no sweetpickles) and real mayonnaise.
For supper, how about agrilled steak with mushroomsand a large green salad, dressedwith an olive oil and vinegardressing you make yourself(never, ever, use prepared saladdressings out of a bottle).
There. That’s it. To find outabout great low-carb recipes, surf the internet. There is quitean array of low-carb recipesand tips for low-carb dieters aswell as testimony from innu-merable diabetics and formersfatties who are controlling thedisease simply by eating right.

Guess you missed me last
month? Oh come on you
missed me, just a little, huh?
Okay let us get out a pitcher
and mix up our favorite bever-
age so you can start your day.
My pitcher is ready, how about
yours?
Since we didn’t bother to
clean-up last month, we need
to just pretend we did and we
will start up where we left off
last month. With all the rain
and a doggie running in and
out, bet your floors look like
mine. Paw prints everywhere
and foot prints mostly every-
where. But I did not let that
bother me ‘cause Isabelle was
working really hard and I en-
joyed that. You know me, set-
ting down watching all month.
Made my heart feel good see-
ing that old gal moving those
40 and 50 pound bags around,
digging really deep holes,
dragging over those big trees,
etc. Sure glad she did it be-
cause now I will clean house
and really enjoy my outdoor
work. It really does look nice
now.
My chicken hay turned com-
post was use by Isabelle to nur-
ture all her plants. Thanks to
me!
We can dust, then put the
dishes in the washer before we
start doing the floors and
chrome things in our home. So
after the dishes let’s do the
windows. Remember to use
the vinegar/water cleaner that
you make. (1/4 cup vinegar to
½ gallon water)! Then use this
newspaper to shine those win-
dows up. Don’t worry about
the outside; do only the inside
the outside we will handle later
on today. Now while your
dishes are drying get out the
vacuum and clean the carpeted
floors. If I were smart I would
have zero carpet in my home.
Nice looking vinyl is one way
to go. Some of those look like
fine tile and, oh, soft and pli-
able. Then you can buy deco
rugs that you can wash and
that’s a lot better than carpet.
But in the meantime get out
your steam/vacuum and get to
work on those floors.
Good grief we need a break
before we go back to polishing
the chrome. So let us rest and
take a nice drink.
Okay, times up. Get out
some more vinegar and use a
wet terry cloth and wipe the
chrome, then dab a little vine-
gar on the terry cloth and wipe
again. Immediately grab a
piece of this newspaper and
start polishing that chrome.
Looks really nice, right? So
now we can make up the beds,
pick up the clothes and put a
wash load or so on before we
eat/drink and go outside.
Maybe put on your bathing suit
before working outside this
time, ‘cause we will be using a
lot of water.
So, we have rested after
lunch and pulled together
whatever we will have for din-
ner/supper, whatever it is
called. And we will go outside
to straighten up our patio,
decks, breeze-ways, garage
and around the home in gen-
eral.
Use your water hose with a
type of power sprayer for the
windows first, and the run-off
will water your plants. Then
with the same power sprayer (
the cheaper screw on high-
power sprayer), if you have a
concete patio, first start spray-
ing any debris away instead of
sweeping and then as you go
by a piece of furniture spray it
down. Tip: Spray your favorite
lounge area and chair first so it
will be dry by your break time.
It will all be done soon and
best of all you have been a
good little homemaker by
using the runoff water to water
your yard and plants. Soon you
will be able to run in and grab
your pitcher and a glass and re-
turn to your clean and dry chair
and table. Rest, ladies, and
enjoy your rest, as this day is
now complete almost.
So enjoy your life and keep it
clean. See you next month Lu-
labelle ....Happy Easter Eggs!

a CandidateAbout We Texans
We Texans is a non-partisan,
non-profit organization that
fights to protect liberty, in-
tegrity and justice through leg-
islation and education. We

dom-minded principles to the
Texas legislature and her citi-
zenry by educating Texans and
spurring them to action.
Our mission
•research current political is-
sues and proposed legislation

Ideas Have Consequences
CONSERVATIVE PRINCI-
PLES MATTER
There is a growing dissatisfac-
tion of the people with their
leaders. Voters have realized
that voting for someone with
an R after their name is not a
guarantee that liberty will be
supported once the candidate is
elected. Voters, now more than
ever, must scrutinize candi-
dates for evidence that their
true ideology is in accordance
with the conservative values on
which they are campaigning.
We Texans believe that candi-
dates must have a firm grasp on
a few key constitutional princi-
ples in order to govern in a
manner that protects freedom.
Key Principles of American
Liberty:
•Private Property Ownership
•State Sovereignty
•Right to Bear Arms
•Inherent Rights of the Individ-
ual
•Free Market Economy
•Opposition to Socialism
•Limited Government
If a candidate does not fully
understand these principles, he
will be ill-equipped to protect
your freedom once elected.
The powers of personality,
charisma and electability will
not save citizens from tyranny.
Only principles can give men
the strength our founding fa-
thers had to fight for freedom
at all costs.
We must work together to
find the solutions to society’s
problems that do not trample
the rights of the few in favor of
the many. In order to do that,
we must have the courage to
elect principled leadership and
the willingness to work hard to
find the candidate that will pro-
tect the values of individual
liberty, morality, and the free
market for ourselves and future
generations.
About this Guide
It is becoming increasingly
difficult to discern rhetoric
from reality when following
political campaigns today.
Each “conservative” candidate
is well versed in the popular
talking points and current
buzz-words, but how can we as
voters determine if they truly
believe and understand the
content in the speeches they
give?
The goal of this guide is to
help cut through pre-packaged
messaging and quickly get to
the heart of any candidate’s
true ideology. In this guide, we
have addressed elected offices
you will find on your ballot in
any given election year. For
each office we have supplied
questions designed to be asked
directly to a candidate, perhaps
at a town hall meeting, candi-
date forum, via e-mail or even
over social media. Following
each question, we have out-
lined a proper liberty-minded
response. Certainly, candi-
date’s exact answers to these
questions will vary greatly, but
if they truly understand what
makes and keeps men free,
their answers to the questions
in this guide will reflect those
we have provided.
Our sincere hope is that this
guide will serve as a valuable
resource to all liberty-minded
voters for years to come. By
focusing on principles rather
than personalities, the process
of choosing a candidate to sup-
port with your vote becomes
rather simple. Please use this
guide as a tool to make in-
formed voting decisions that
serve to secure the blessings of
freedom for ourselves and our
posterity.

LENGTH of TERM
Q. Question to Candidate
A. Outline of a liberty-
minded response
Federal Representative
Includes the following elected
positions:
United States Congressman (2
Year Term)
United States Senator (6 Year
Term)
Q. What is the primary respon-
sibility of a representative?
A. The answer should not be
“constituent services” or “to do
the will of the people.” These
are incorrect answers because
we are a republic not a democ-
racy. The primary responsibil-
ity of members of Congress is
to uphold the Constitution,
even against the will of the
people.
A candidates response to this
question should sound similar
to the oath they will swear if
elected: “I do solemnly swear
(or affirm) that I will support
and defend the Constitution of
the United States against all
enemies, foreign and domestic;
that I will bear true faith and
allegiance to the same; that I
take this obligation freely,
without any mental reservation
or purpose of evasion; and that
I will well and faithfully dis-
charge the duties of the office
on which I am about to enter:
So help me God."
Q. Who is responsible to take
action to limit the federal gov-
ernment to its constitutionally
mandated powers?
A. The founders understood
that the federal government
would tend towards accruing
more power unto itself and
provided the 9th and 10th
amendments to Constitution to
safeguard limited government.
9th Amendment: The enumer-
ation in the Constitution, of
certain rights, shall not be con-
strued to deny or disparage
others retained by the people.
10th Amendment: The powers
not delegated to the United
States by the Constitution, nor
prohibited by it to the States,
are reserved to the States re-
spectively, or to the people.
It is the responsibility of the in-
dividual states to limit the fed-
eral government when it acts
outside the powers delegated
to it in Article 1, Section 8 of
the U.S. Constitution.
Q. Under what circumstances
would you vote to allow the
federal government to act be-
yond it’s powers defined in Ar-
ticle 1 Section 8 of the
Constitution?
A. The correct answer to this
question is quite simple:
“Never.” Members of Con-
gress violate their oath of
office any time they vote on
items that are not listed as
powers of Congress in Article I
Section 8 of the U.S. Constitu-
tion. Candidates should be able
to acknowledge that there are
many things that the current
Congress addresses which are
not within their constitutional
power. Candidates should re-
spond that powers not granted
to the federal government by
the Constitution are reserved to
the States or the people.
Q. How would you advocate to
advance states’ rights In the
event that the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA)
guidelines conflict with those
of the Railroad Commission?
A. Industry in Texas is best
regulated by Texas, period.
The Railroad Commission ide-
ally should serve as the sover-
eign regulatory agency for the
energy industry in our state. A
candidate’s response should in-
clude that the EPA is truly un-
constitutional.
Railroad Commissioner

Q. Considering the scope of
the energy sector in Texas,
how has that industry affected
private property rights?
A. In Texas, private companies

Patty the Milkmaid was
going to market carrying her
milk in a Pail on her head. As
she went along she began cal-
culating what she would do
with the money she would get
for the milk. "I'll buy some
fowls from Farmer Brown,"
said she, "and they will lay
eggs each morning, which I
will sell to the parson's wife.
With the money that I get from
the sale of these eggs I'll buy
myself a new dimity frock and
a chip hat; and when I go to
market, won't all the young
men come up and speak to me!
Polly Shaw will be that jeal-
ous; but I don't care. I shall
just look at her and toss my
head like this. As she spoke
she tossed her head back, the
Pail fell off it, and all the milk
was spilt. So she had to go
home
and tell her mother what had
occurred.
"Ah, my child," said the
mother, "Do not count your
chickens before they are
hatched."
Once upon a time there was a
man named Joe who was quite
overweight. He didn’t care. He
just wanted to enjoy life, eat
whatever he wanted to in what-
ever amounts he wanted to eat.
He loved chicken fried steak,
mashed potatoes with gravy, to
heck with the salad -- take it or
leave it. He took pride in the
fact that he still wore the same
size jeans he had worn in high
school, some thirty-five years
ago, never realizing that back
then he wore them at his waist
and that now he was wearing
them close to his groin in order
to accommodate the huge col-
lection of fat in his abdomen.
Beer drinking was an impor-
tant part of life, and he partook
on every imaginable occasion.
Soon after his 50th birthday,
he was told his health was
going all to heck in a handbas-
ket. He had high colesterol,
high triglycerides and was out
of whack in all kinds of tests he
couldn’t even pronounce in the
name of. He had diabetes and
many indicators of heart dis-
ease. Since Joe had free health
care, he went to all kinds of
doctors at no cost to himself.
Each doctor prescribed med-
ications, some to counteract
the side effects of the first
ones. He was told to lose
weight, but Joe decided instead
to just rely on modern medi-
cine to cure his diseases and
kept on with the way he ate
and drank Over the next few
years, the government paid
more than $40,000 for Joe’s
doctor visits and pharmaceuti-
cal drugs. Joe applied for and
received disability payments
because he was “too sick to
work.” Taxes rose so that the
government could pay the tab
for people like Joe. Joe died by
the time he was 65. The gov-
ernment was quite happy, as
Joe would not be a drain on
Social Security or Medicare.
John, on the other hand, who
was about the same age as Joe
and also had similar eating and
drinking habits, when hearing
about his medical status, which
was just like Joe’s, decided not
to go along with taking all
those drugs and visiting all
those doctors. John stashed all
the prescriptions into his desk
drawer, just in case he might
need them in the future. Then
John took matters into his own
hands, did a great deal of re-
search and came to the conclu-
sion that he was not actually
sick. Instead, he was living an
unhealthy lifestyle, beginning
with everything he was putting
in his mouth and much that he
was not putting in his mouth.
He changed his ways drasti-
cally. As a result he lost all that
fat in his belly and felt better
than he had felt since he was a
young man. The next time he
had a checkup, the doctors
could find nothing wrong with
him. John worked until he was
in his early seventies, paying
heavy taxes to support men
like Joe. John lived to be 89
years old and might have lived
longer if it were not for the fact
that he fell down and broke his
hip, and the government
deemed him “too old” to spend
money on for a hip replace-
ment.. That money could bet-
ter be used on young people,
was the thinking.

provide for you as well as
you can.

A scorpion and a frog meet on
the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry
him across on its back. The
frog asks, "How do I know you
won't sting me?" The scorpion
says, "Because if I do, I will die
too."
The frog is satisfied, and they
set out, but in midstream, the
scorpion stings the frog. The
frog feels the onset of paralysis
and starts to sink, knowing they
both will drown, but has just
enough time to gasp "Why?"
Replies the scorpion: "Its

SOME TRAVELERS, jour-
neying along the seashore,
climbed to the summit of a tall
cliff, and looking over the sea,
saw in the distance what they
thought was a large ship. They
waited in the hope of seeing it
enter the harbor, but as the ob-
ject on which they looked was
driven nearer to shore by the
wind, they found that it could
at the most be a small boat,
and not a ship. When however
it reached the beach, they dis-
covered that it was only a large
faggot of sticks, and one of
them said to his companions,
"We have waited for no pur-
pose, for after all there is noth-
ing to see but a load of wood."
Moral: Our mere anticipa-
tions of life outrun its reali-
ties.

March rain shower has
brought out the flowers and
made all my plants start out on
a really big sprint. All are
healthy and beautiful. I have
tomatoes to eat right now. Can
hardly believe it! The aspara-
gus have started back with new
shoots coming up. The onions
are really coming along, and
with those onions I planted
those in a raised bed with lots
of sand/dirt mix. The raised
bed is on a concrete pad. We
will see how they fair later this
year.
And more, the shallots made
it, yeah! The pots where I
planted just greens in the “Pot
Garden” and yesiree, the mus-
tard greens, Madagorda
spinach, the mixed type greens
for salads, the herbs Greek
oregano, thyme, rosemary,
sage, sweet basil and dill are
read y to use at this time. So
those tomatoes came along at
just the right time. Guess you
can tell I really love salads,
made with fresh salad fixins’.
Now I have planted a new in-
Great times can be ahead
for all of us. We will need to
learn to be very informed. Stay
in your work that you have
whether you like it or not. That
is most important, as you keep
in mind your future. Whatever
that vision you have, keep it
alive from the time you wake
up till you fall asleep.
That means you take care of
yourself and your family as
best you can and remember to
keep that vision in your mind
at all times. Now on to things
you can do for you and yours.
First, back to growing a gar-
den for your family. If you
have children, you are their
teacher. As you do so, will
they. Even if they complain
now, later in their life they will
remember what you
set as an example. Most likely
that will bring them closer to
you than you ever imagine.
Just a good thought for you
each day. Especially when the
kids hormones start coming to
the rage stage.
Once you truly appreciate
your food on the table which
came from the garden that
those kids helped grow, may
that show an appreciation for
what a little work can do for
them. Even if they work in a
city, they will still be able to
grow greens, peppers and
tomatoes inside their apart-
ments because you have
shown them the way. Teach
them how to use those foods as
deco objects in the home they
have chosen.
When the time is right you
will see that technique will
spill over into their financial
abilities. Like say, growing the
financial wealth for harvesting
in the future. How to pay bills
on time. How to save and pay
cash for items without going
into debt. Gardens are special,
and all children deserve the
opportunity to learn about hard
work and the benefits of such.
Teach your children and
yourself how to use envelopes
small 2 1/4 X 3 ½ size. Take
all your cash funds each pay-
ground garden. You see I made
my own seedlings for about 36
tomato plants and for cayenne,
poblano, big Jims, and Red bell
peppers which all have come
along really well and needed
planting this Sunday March
25th, 2012. So I need to get to
cracking on this project. You
see I have had to put up a little
fence to help keep out the feral
cats and other critters. I have
found out if you use a bird net-
ting over the garden the cats
hate it and tend to leave your
garden alone. Hope you have
luck like me using it when/if
you have a critter problem. And
I will keep you updated as to
how long it works.
Have purchased another
water hose. I really do not
know how old this water hose
that I had been using was as it
came with the property when I
purchased it. But the hose actu-
ally collapsed and water would
only trickle out of it. Kinda like
the septic system here col-
lapsed, and it cost a lot more
than this water hose. I really
like my new hose cause it is
light weight and will last 3-5
years I hope.
I have planted my first citrus
tree, a Grapefruit tree. Came in
a 5 gallon tub, kinda beat up
from the high winds. I thought
I would be able to nurse it back
to health and I have. It is a
Saxon Becnel & Sons Rio Red
Grapefruit and, since it was
beat up, I got it for $25, and
that is a good deal, at least for
me. Right now it is loaded with
grapefruit babies. Now is the
hard part I will have to pinch
off all those babies this year so
that the root will become big
and strong. Should have done
that yesterday but could not
bring myself to it. Will try
today. I know it has to be done
if I want this tree to last. I will
garner up the strength or get
Lulabell to do it. She is a tough
old gal. I am the sissy in the
family.
I have planted the rosemary
in the ground along with the
sage. Both seem delighted for
the change. They like freedom
just like VJA (Its your life col-
umn writer). They are flour-
ishing. Now the olive trees I
transplanted. Well, for sure 10
trees made it. Maybe more
will make it and I will update
that next month. But, you
know, those carpenter/cutter
types of ants striped all the
leaves from every Olive tree. I
thought they were done for. So
it has been quite a treat to see
those wonderful leaves com-
ing back.
Also the GroCamp I use is
now being used to start those
seeds into seedlings. It really
worked well and those plants
will be planted later today. It is
really exciting to see all the
work you put into something
that is paying off.
I have been a country girl all
my life even when being
dressed up and suited for the
big city jobs. Surely there is a
place in the country for all of
us girls and boys! Have a great
April and look at those Blue
Bonnets. That is from above.
Beautiful, just plain beautiful.
day lay out the money and
place in the envelopes. Oh,
first write down all your bills
and how much the minimum
payment is so you will know
how to label that envelope and
date it with the due date. Then
set it aside. Say you make
$1000 Net monthly. And your
rent is $400. (This should be
only $250 monthly, so you
need to start looking for an-
other apartment maybe). At
this time label an envelope
“Rent: $400.” And, say you are
paid weekly, you take out and
put in the envelope $100, date
it and minus out the $100 and
you now need $300 to be able
to pay your rent. So with each
payday you put away $100 so
on the first of each month you
will have the $ 400 to pay
when due no questions, just go
pay your rent.) And you do the
same with all your bills, i.e.,
water, electricity, gas, insur-
ance and so forth. Pull the
money on each payday and
when due you will have taken
care of yourself being a re-
sponsible individual. What is
left is for food and entertain-
ment and savings. (Savings
should be at least 20% of your
net). Now you will begin to see
why your rent is too high. So
do a practice run on all your
bills on paper and find out just
how much your have for bills,
rent and other things. You can
do it, I promise.
That is how you learn to
save yourself from being any-
thing less than what you want
to be.
Happy Easter to all of you and
especially the kids. Remember,
you will have the future you
want, but it is hard work and
you will succeed. Greatness is
ahead for you. It is like the
Phoenix Bird you to will rise
from the ashes. Your education
will come from knowing your
history. Very important. Ask
your elders how they made it?
You wil more than likely learn
more than you every imagined.
This month has been rough
on a dog. My bed got kicked
out of the house. Mom had
been sweeping, and she told
me all this dog hair had to go,
that she was not cleaning up
after me so much any longer.
Now, don’t get me wrong; I
still get to come in the house,
but not for extended periods. If
I start scratching or rubbing my
back on the floor, out I go. It’s
not fair. On the other hand,
there is some really comfort-
able furniture outside that I am
allowed to make myself com-
forable on. I expecially like
Mom’s outdoor lounger. It’s
way cool.
But what’s worse is that she
now feeds me outdoors. She
says I am ruining her floors
with the huge piggy mess I
make with my food and water.
I can’t help it. I’m just a dog.
Boo-hoo! Besides, I help clean
house. I really do. I lick up all
the human crumbs of food that
drop on the floor. Doesn’t that
count for helping clean house?
Mom says it doesn’t. Whine,
whine, everybody whine!
Yesterday, one of Mom’s
friends, Laura, came over to
visit and brought what at first
looked like a large rat, only it
wasn’t. It was an itty bitty baby
dog. When she put it on the
ground, I went to sniff and it
and look it over. It had gor-
geous brown eyes like mine
and beautifuly black hair like
mine, nevermind that it had a
number of brown markings. I
nosed around it, followed it
around and licked and licked
and licked. Pretty soon the crit-
ter was soaking wet and looked
even more like a rat except its
tail was not very long. That
cute little tail was just a wag-
gin’ and waggin’. I was in love
. Mom’s friend said the pup’s
name was “Tyson.” Mom
asked, “You mean like in
“Tyson chickens”? Laura said,
with a straight face, “No, like
in Mike Tyson, the boxer.”
Mom laughed and laughed. I
don’t know why. She better
not ever laugh at my name. I’m
Daisy Duke, Queen of the
World!
I didn’t want to see the pup
leave. I bolted out the door
with Mom and followed Laura
and Tyson to their car. I wanted
to just play and lick that pup all
afternoon. Why can’t I have
any pups? Mom says some day
she will get me one, and that I
can play and play and lick and
lick as long as I don’t hurt it.
That sounds really good, only I
don’t understand when “some-
day” is going to be. I don’t like
that part.
It’s hot outside today, and
Mom let me come in the house
and lay on the cool floor, so I
guess things aren’t so bad as I
make them out to be. All in all,
I have it really good. Yeah, I’d
like for life to be all about me,
and a lot of times it is. I guess
a dog’s life isn’t too bad after
all. Woof, woof to all my pals
out there. ‘Til next time, and
good chow. As we say in
doggy land, “Bone Appetit!”

Tips to BetterPhotos
by Wayne Green
I just watched a great family
movie titled," A Dolphin's Tale
". I usually like movies when
they are based on a true story
and this film was no exception.
The central character of the
story is actually a young dol-
phin that is rescued after being
badly injured.
As I watched scenes within
the movie that exemplified the
amazing bond and relationships
between the young rescued dol-
phin and the film's human char-
acters, I was vividly reminded
of a photo assignment that be-
came by far the most poignant
and incredible experience that I
ever had with dolphins. Look-
ing back I feel so lucky to have
had the opportunity I decided
to veer away from technical
tips in this month's article and
do my best to describe the
photo assignment that made me
realize just how amazing these
ocean mammals actually are.
My assignment took me to a
wonderful resort on the Yu-
catan Peninsula . The resort of
Xcaret is on the Caribbean
coast just across from the island
of Cozumel. The beautiful jun-
gle setting is replete with
sparkling white sand beaches,
great scuba diving on coral
reefs, an underground river that
guests can float down on rafts
and tubes, Mayan ruins, nightly
entertainment from all over
Mexico and an exotic zoo.
The most popular attraction
however is their dolphin la-
goon where they keep over a
dozen dolphins. Some are
trained and perform while oth-
ers are available for guests to
swim with for a few minutes at
a time.
The resort hired me prima-
rily to create photos of the dol-
phins for a calendar they
would be selling at the resort
and for images to be used in
their advertising programs.
As I put on my scuba gear at
the edge of the lagoon, the dol-
phins excitedly swam in cir-
cles close by. One of the
trainers that was working with
me, explained that although
they were used to people
swimming with them, it was
very rare for anyone to suit up
and dive with them. I got my
underwater photo setup ready
and entered the lagoon. As
soon as I dropped beneath the
surface I was surrounded by
dolphins. By their constant
chattering and excited move-
ments, it was quite clear that
having a person swimming
under the water with them was
something they weren't at all
used to. Within minutes the
whole group of around four-
teen adult animals were play-
ing synchronized games with
me. They would start by form-
ing a tight ring around me,
smoothly swimming with each
one taking a turn letting me
stroke them from nose to tail.
After a few minutes of this, the
game would change. It was
very obvious to me that each
dolphin was communicating
with all the others instanta-
neously. a psychic bond
seemed to allow them to act as
a coherent unit as they sped up
still circling me even closer
now but at dizzying speed. The
game had changed, now as I
reached to stroke them, no mat-
ter how quickly I reached for
them, they would avoid my
touch. Many times only a tiny
fraction of an inch separated
their smooth, huge bodies from
the tips of my fingers. I be-
came convinced after many at-
tempts that they not only were
telepathically connected with
each other but that they were
also connected to me, so that as
soon as I had the thought to
reach for them, they were in-
stantly aware of the thought.
Also amazing to me was how
absolutely in control of their
movements they were. Hun-
dreds of times a powerful tail
had whipped within an inch of
my face mask, yet never once
was I accidently struck. Lucky
for me too, as I could have eas-
ily been knocked cold and only
the dolphins themselves were
under the water with me to
watch over me. Thankfully
they did a good job seeming to
know how fragile I was com-
pared to their rocket powered
bodies.
I spent several wonderful
hours under the water that day,
I know I went through almost
10 tanks of air photographing
them, playing with them, and
getting to know them to the
point that they felt like old
friends. Part of their play
throughout the day was to sud-
denly stop circling me and
strike off into the distance, dis-
appearing from view. Then
after they had been gone for
awhile, I would suddenly be
surrounded by them once
again. They swam so fast on
their return that sometimes I
wouldn't even catch a glimpse
of their return, they would just
magically be back, seemingly
quite proud of how fast and
sneaky they could be.
One time though after I had
been in the water for hours,
they all swam away and re-
mained gone longer than usual.
Also different this time were
the sounds I was hearing. Usu-
ally when they were off to the
other end of the lagoon, it was
fairly quiet beneath the water.
This time though, I could hear
a lot of chattering, whistles and
clicks coming from the far side
of the lagoon. I finally decided
to swim over to see what had
them so excited. As I reached
the end of the lagoon, I found
all my new friends up against
the large nylon netting that
closed off the mouth of the la-
goon from the sea. On the
other side of the netting was a
group of 8 or nine dolphins
who had swam up from the
open water and were obviously
visiting with their friends that
weren't as free to roam as they
were. It was a bit sad for me
since I was reminded of a
prison visiting room. Al-
though as I listened to all the
multitude of sounds, they all
sounded so cheerful and full of
playfulness, I wondered if
being a dolphin on either side
of the netting would still be
good kind of existence.
Next month I'll return to tips
on improving your photos and
please send any comments,
questions, or ideas to Wayne
Green - [email protected],

powers granted to them by the
state to use private property for
their projects. While those
powers are granted by the leg-
islature and cannot be
amended by the Commission,
the Commission does have
great authority to ensure that
landowners and their
property are protected to the
fullest extent possible from
property damage caused by
negligence and abuse from the
energy industry. Railroad
Commissioners should be ac-
countable to their electorate
and strive to ensure that all par-
ties, both the industry and the
individual, receive fair and just
treatment under the law
.
Q. As a regulator of the oil and
gas industry in Texas, how
does the Railroad Commission
work to create jobs?
A. Government does not create
jobs, the private sector creates
jobs. Regulatory agencies can
only hinder job creation. Any
candidate claiming they will or
can create jobs does not under-
stand their role as a regulator.
It is not their role to create
jobs.

been granted authority to cre-
ate such a law under the Texas
Constitution.

should a judge do if he believes
that controlling precedent from
a higher court is wrongly de-
cided?
A. A judge’s first consideration
should always be our state con-
stitution. A judge can be
guided but should not be con-
trolled by higher court prece-
dent.
Q. When applying a law to a
specific case, what should be
the judge's primary objective
and how should the judge pur-
sue that objective?
A. The highest purpose of a
judge is to ensure that our laws
are applied fairly and justly to
all. In order to pursue that end,
a judge must examine whether
or not the legislature had the
authority to make the applica-
ble law and if so the judge
must follow that law.
State Legislators

Q. What is the primary respon-
sibility of a legislator?
A. The answer should not be
“constituent services” or “to do
the will of the people.” These
are incorrect answers because
we are a republic not a democ-
racy. The primary responsibil-
ity of state representatives is to
uphold the Texas Constitution,
even against the will of the
people.
A candidates response to this
question should sound simi-lar
to the oath they will swear if
elected: “I do solemnly swear
(or affirm), that I will faithfully
execute the duties of the office
of State Legislator of the State
of Texas, and will to the best of
my ability preserve, protect,
and defend the Constitution
and laws of the United States
and of this State, so help me
God.
Q. What options do state legis-
lators have to limit the federal
government to its constitution-
ally mandated powers?
A. As Thomas Jefferson out-
lined, when the federal
government steps outside it’s
powers, specified in Article 1
Section 8 of the U.S. Constitu-
tion, the states have a duty to
interpose and nullify federal
actions in order to protect the
citizens of their state from a
tyrannical Washington DC.
State legislators then have two
options available to them in
this situation:
1. Nullification—passing state
law that says an unconsti-tu-
tional federal law will be null
and void within our state
2. Interposition—passing a
state law that says an uncon-
stitutional federal law will still
stand within the state but con-
sequences for breaking that
law will not be en-forced by
officers of our state. Addition-
ally, our state law enforcement
will prevent federal officers
from en-forcing consequences
of breaking the unconstitu-
tional federal law.
Q. What role should the state
play in economic develop-
ment?
A. It is not government’s job to
incentivize economic
development. The biggest role
the legislature can play in de-
veloping the economy in Texas
is to pass sound legislation and
tax policy that applies equi-
tably to all and to remove as
much regulation as possible to
allow the free market to func-
tion without undo burden of
unnecessary compliance and
mandates.
State Board of Education
Member
4 YEARS
Q. What do you believe the
state is responsible for when it
comes to public education?
A. The Texas Constitution
clearly stipulates that the state
is responsible for the “the sup-
port and maintenance of an ef-
ficient system of public free
schools” in order to provide “a
general diffusion of knowl-
edge.” Currently, many of the
activities provided by public
schools falls outside the scope
of a “general diffusion of
knowledge” and there-fore be-
yond the responsibility of state
government.
Q. What do you see as the pri-
mary reasons for the less than
excellent quality of education
in public schools Texas?
A. While there is no simple or
single answer for this compli-
cated issue, there is ample ev-
idence that increased funding
is not the solution. Remedy for
public school dysfunction is
more likely found in de-
creased regulation and man-
dates and an increase in the
quality of educators.
Q. How would you return
management of public educa-
tion to local districts?
A. The candidate must ac-
knowledge that the scope of
the state’s responsibility for
public education should be
limited. Additionally, they
should demonstrate a willing-
ness to lead an effort to transi-
tion responsibility for
education from the state level
back to parents and communi-
ties where it rightly belongs.

...Having Way Too Much Fun!
The latest Public Policy Poll
that shows Ron Paul doing bet-
ter in a head-to-head contest
with President Obama than any
other Republican presidential
candidate also shows his con-
sistent superior strength with
independent voters. Paul ties
Obama for independents while
the rest of the GOP candidates
trail 6-15 points.
Paul’s message of individual
freedom, fiscal responsibility
and a more prudent foreign
policy resonates with a cross
section of Americans in ways
the other GOP candidates can
never achieve. No one thinks of
“individual freedom” when
they look at the healthcare
mandating Mitt Romney and
Newt Gingrich, nor do they
think this when they listen to
Rick Santorum’s various plans
to run Americans’ lives. No one
thinks of “fiscal responsibility”
when they look at Romney,
Gingrich and Santorum’s big
spending records. And at a time
when a majority of Americans
want to get out of Afghanistan
immediately and to reduce
America’s involvement around
the world, no one sees any
change in our foreign policy in
the blustery rhetoric of Mitt,
Newt and Rick.
Many Americans don’t see
any hope for individual free-
dom, fiscal responsibility and
a more prudent foreign policy
in President Obama either–
whose national healthcare
plan remains unpopular, as
does his outrageous spending
and tragic foreign policy.
While the political establish-
ment of both parties like to por-
tray Ron Paul as a man out of
step with the mainstream, he is
in fact more in line with the
mainstream than any of the es-
tablishment choices.
There’s really no secret as to
why Ron Paul does so well
with independent voters. It is
the political class who need to
get a clue.
As Ron Paul pointed out in a
campaign press release on the
Paul Ryan budget:
“The House GOP’s budget
proposal does not balance the
budget until the year 2040, and
it adds billions to our already
exploding deficits. In fact, this
budget doesn’t actually ‘cut’
any spending. It only reduces
assumed increases in spending
– essentially playing the same
game the Washington estab-
lishment has played for years
with our hard-earned money.”
But Dr. Paul also makes a
very important point here:
“What is really disappointing
is that the GOP budget as-
sumes that the federal govern-
ment should continue to do
everything, or at least almost
everything, it is currently
doing. We will never have a
balanced federal budget, low
taxes, economic prosperity,
and individual liberty unless
Congress stops trying to run
the world, run the economy,
and run our lives.”
The idea of reexamining the
very functions of our federal
government, applying cost/bene-
fit analyses (and the Constitu-
tion), and then seriously
scaling back federal power–
this is the one thing no Repub-
lican candidate talks about
except Paul.
In October, the Los Angeles
Times noticed this as well:
The basic question posed by
the likes of Republicans Her-
man Cain, Mitt Romney and
Rick Perry is: “Would this per-
son do a better job as president
than Barack Obama has?”
The basic question posed by
Rep. Ron Paul’s candidacy is:
“Why do we have a federal
government?”
Paul isn’t saying the federal
government is wasting every
dollar it spends; he’s saying the
federal government doesn’t
need to do much of what it
does. Which gets us back to the
existential challenge that Paul
poses to Washington. Why is
the federal government per-
forming so many functions?
Ron Paul, like Paul Ryan, is
practical in understanding that
entitlement systems that people
have paid into their entire lives
must be handled with care. But
within practical concerns about
how we can salvage what we
can from our current unsus-
tainable system, there must
also be a serious reassessment
of the role of the federal gov-
ernment. Unfortunately, Ron
Paul remains the only presi-
dential candidate serious about
this.

“Paul is the strongest candidate
with independents, tying
Obama with them while the
rest of the GOP field trails by
6-15 points.”
LAKE JACKSON, Texas, Mar
22, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -
- 2012 Republican Presidential
candidate Ron Paul polls better
against President Barack
Obama in a head-to-head
matchup than establishment-
choice moderate Mitt Romney,
according to a recent survey
conducted by Public Policy
Polling.
The poll found that Obama
defeats Romney by 4 percent-
age points (48-44) and Newt
Gingrich by 8 percent (50-42).
While Santorum also joins Paul
being within striking distance
of the President by 3 points
(48-45 and 46-43 respectively),
Paul brings Obama a notice-
able 2 percentage points further
away from the 50 percent a
candidate seeks to win on elec-
tion day. Considering the +/-
3.3-percentage point margin of
error, Paul in this poll is statis-
tically tied for the presidency.
Reinforcing the electability
case for Paul is that he ties
Obama among independent
voters, while Romney loses the
largest voting segment by 6
percent, Santorum by 8 per-
cent, and Gingrich by 15 per-
cent -- a cause for concern
whether Paul’s three rivals
would even be competitive
come November.
While many polls have
shown Paul to be the most
competitive Romney alterna-
tive, it also shows Paul to be
making substantial progress
and momentum for a general
election bid. The new poll re-
veals that Paul is narrowing the
gap between himself and
Obama by 5 percentage points
since last month’s PPP poll.
Other notables are that
among one of the fastest grow-
ing voter segments, the His-
panic vote, Paul takes a full
third of the Hispanic vote
against the sitting President,
with no other candidate able to
come within 5 points of Paul’s
Hispanic support.
Among the largest voter seg-
ment, self-identified independ-
ents, Paul is viewed favorably
by 41 percent, whereas Rom-
ney and Santorum are rele-
gated to a melancholy 29
percent and Gingrich further
behind with a mere 24 percent
favorability. These favorability
numbers among independents
translate into a clear Election
Day advantage unique to Paul,
where he would tie President
Obama 42 to 42 for their votes.
Young voters, those 18 to 29
years in this poll, have long
been considered to be in the
President’s court. Yet, in a
Paul-Obama matchup, these
voters leave Obama and com-
paratively flock to Paul, back-
ing him with a hefty 40 percent
of their support. The range of
youth support for Paul’s three
competitors in a head-to-head
with Obama ranges 22 to 29
percent, meaning about half of
Paul’s margin to weak at best.
“The media may find an in-
evitability about Romney be-
coming nominee, but it is clear
that with anyone other than
Ron Paul as nominee a second
term for Obama is the in-
evitability,” said Ron Paul
2012 National Campaign
Chairman Jesse Benton.
“When polls say ‘Romney is
actually not the most electable
Republican candidate,’ voters
should flock to the candidate
who can defeat Obama by win-
ning on true conservative prin-
ciple. That man is Ron Paul,”
added Mr. Benton.
The PPP poll is based on
telephone surveys of 900 vot-
ers and has a +/- 3.3-percent-
age point error margin.

The result of the Iowa cau-
cus, along with current New
Hampshire polls, stands as a re-
minder of just how little
progress the Republican Party
has made. Though small gov-
ernment, libertarian-leaning
conservatives thought the Tea
Party had delivered classical
liberalism to the GOP, the Re-
publican voters are still fool-
ishly neoconservative.
Republican support of Mitt
Romney is disgraceful to Re-
publican voters who still sin-
cerely believe in the GOP’s
small government tenets. Mitt
Romney, while governor of
Massachusetts, instituted gov-
ernment coercion against his
citizens, in the form of a health-
care mandate. Essentially, be-
fore Obama used the heavy
hand of government to impose
his vision of healthcare onto
Americans, Romney had “been
there, done that.” The fact that
Romney, while running for the
presidential nomination, has
justified his act of authoritari-
anism on grounds of states’
rights is not a saving grace.
After all, proponents of states’
rights, generally, instead of de-
siring to give politicians license
to tyrannize on a more local-
ized level, are attempting to
protect individuals from the ex-
cesses of government by de-
centralizing and dissolving
government’s authority. Sadly,
this demonstrated collectivist
polled second in Iowa and, cur-
rently, is strongly showing in
New Hampshire. “Live free or
die?” Give me a break!
Rick Santorum, the winner
of Iowa’s caucus, obviously
lacks an understanding of what
a free society would look like.
A free society is a society
where the government, if one’s
to exist, only exists to protect
its citizens from force and
fraud. In a free society, the gov-
ernment wouldn’t prohibit con-
senting adults from entering
into marriage, wouldn’t pry
into its citizenry’s privacy, and
wouldn’t engage in illegal, of-
fensive wars. Yet, Santorum
wouldn’t allow homosexuals to
enter into the contract of mar-
riage, on grounds that exclu-
sively heterosexual marriages
possess an “intrinsic” value to
society (reference recent state-
ments from Santorum’s ap-
pearance at a New England
College question-and-answer
session). Hmmm, what’s a
good word for suspending indi-
vidual rights for the greater
good? Oh yeah, tyranny. Fur-
thermore, Santorum supports
the intrusive Patriot Act, legis-
lation that challenges the fourth
amendment, which states The
right of the people to be secure
in their persons, houses, pa-
pers, and effects, against un-
reasonable searches and
seizures, shall not be violated,
and no Warrants shall issue, but
upon probable cause, supported
by Oath or affirmation, and
particularly describing the
place to be searched, and the
persons or things to be seized.
Additionally, Santorum has not
shied away from his support of
keeping US forces bogged
down in Afghanistan, despite
the fact that Osama Bin Laden
has been killed, and, during the
most recent ABC GOP debate,
voicing support of returning
US troops to the Iraq debacle.
Clearly, Santorum is a big gov-
ernment “conservative.”
Though history seems to
prove that governments, de-
spite their titles, eventually
grow themselves into debt and
oblivion, America’s best hope
for genuine change is Ron
Paul. Ron Paul is the only can-
didate to demonstrate a com-
prehensive understanding of
laissez-faire capitalism and,
perhaps most importantly, an
understanding of how fiat, cen-
trally managed currencies dis-
tort the price mechanism and
lead to disastrous business cy-
cles. Along with Paul’s knowl-
edge of free market economics,
any liberty lover should appre-
ciate Paul’s resistance to unde-
clared wars of aggression. In
fact, Paul is so consistent with
his support of a purely defen-
sive foreign policy that he’s
courageous enough to con-
demn the Union’s war of ag-
gression against the South,
during the 19th century. Now,
that’s some principled libertar-
ianism!
The ball is in the Republicans’
court. Nominate a neoconserv-
ative and, if that neoconserva-
tive defeats Obama, look
forward to another big govern-
ment administration OR nomi-
nate Ron Paul and give liberty
a chance.

mary role of county
government?
A. While the scope of county
government continues to grow,
at its core, the county is re-
sponsible for roads, local law
enforcement, some public
works and maintenance and ad-
ministration of county courts.
County elected officials must
refrain from accepting respon-
sibility for humanitarian efforts
(which rightly rests with peo-
ple) and work instead to insure
individual rights are protected.
Q. In what areas do you believe
the county is providing services
that it should not be providing
and how would you propose to
eliminate those services?
A. While many candidates will
discuss the burden of unfunded
mandates, many counties offer
a plethora of additional public
services. A candidate should
hold that most social, environ-
mental and economic develop-
ment services should be left to
the private sector .
Q. In what ways has our county
become dependent on the state
or federal government and how
would you propose to reduce
that dependence?
A. The county receives funding
from both the state and federal
government for roads, health-
care and economic develop-
ment just to name a few.
Commissioners committed to
protecting individual liberty
and freedom will acknowledge
the need to resist mandates, in-
cluding the Commissioners’
Court solicitation and accept-
ance of government grants,
which invariably created long
term liabilities for the county to
provide additional services.
Prosecutor, 4 YEARS
Includes the following elected
positions:
District Attorney
County Attorney
Q. When developing a case and
charging a suspect, does incen-
tivizing convictions make
elected attorneys more or less
likely to have prosecutorial
conduct that is just?
A. Elected attorneys have a
unique position, in that they are
representatives of the state and
prosecute to protect the people.
However, they must also en-
sure that justice is done, which
means they are to protect the
rights of victim and the suspect
simultaneously. Incentivizing
convictions may cause elected
attorneys to focus on convic-
tion rate and winning rather
than ensuring justice is done.
Texas Criminal Code defines
the duties and responsibilities
of the District Attorney and
states, “It shall be the primary
duty of all prosecuting attor-
neys, including any special
prosecutors, not to convict, but
to see that justice is done“

Q. If the Federal Government
or the United Nations were to
implement a policy of door to
door gun confiscation in your
jurisdiction, similar to what
took place in New Orleans,
Louisiana immediately follow-
ing Hurricane Katrina, what
would you do?
A. In such a situation, a Sheriff
should interpose himself on be-
half of the people to protect
their constitutional right to
keep and bear arms.
Q. In 1955, Rosa Parks was ar-
rested for failing to give her
seat on a bus to a white man.
Knowing what we know now
about equality and justice, if
you were called, back in time,
as the responding officer to this
call, what would you have
done?
A. The police are not robots for
the legislatures. Law
enforcement officers should
never enforce unjust law. A true
constitutional Sheriff would
have sat down next to Mrs.
Parks, shook her hand, made
sure she got home safely and
given her home extra patrol
throughout the night.
Q. What will be your highest
priority as Sheriff?
A. The proper answer is “Keep
my oath to the people of my
county to protect their consti-
tutional rights.” A Sheriff has
no higher duty than this. While
answers of keep the peace, re-
duce the crime rate, stop drug
trafficking and drug abuse or
work with Federal and State
agencies to combat crime may
be duties of a Sheriff those
should not be his highest prior-
ity. A sheriff’s oath binds him
to only enforce laws that coin-
cide with the Constitution. He
should not violate that oath for
anyone or any purpose.
Constable

Q. Do you believe that the IRS
conducting random audits is a
proper and constitutional pro-
cedure?
A. No. No other law enforce-
ment agency in this country is
allowed to conduct random au-
dits to reduce crime or detect
crime. As much as the IRS
might like to think they de-
serve an exception to the
Fourth and Fifth Amendments,
no such exemption exists and
they should follow the rule of
law just like everyone else.
Q. It appears that all citizens
will be required by “law” to
participate in the recently en-
acted federal healthcare regu-
lation. If citizens in your
jurisdiction refuse to accept or
use this federal program and
you are ordered to cite or arrest
them, what will you do?
A. No local law enforcement
officer should ever enforce any
such law or serve any warrants
from any court to arrest citi-
zens for refusing to participate
in any federal program; not for
healthcare or anything else.
Local law enforcement should
stand next to their constituents
and put themselves on the line
to protect them from such
abuse.
Q. If Federal and State bureau-
cracies are raiding farmers and
destroying their dairy products
and businesses for merely dis-
tributing raw milk and cheese,
what would you do about it?
A. The right farmers have to
run their businesses as they see
fit is more important than reg-
ulations and rules. As long as
they have not hurt anyone, I
will stand with all farmers and
will indeed protect their lands
and businesses, from all
threats.
Justice of the Peace

Q. According to the principles
of our Constitutional Republic;
who is responsible for keeping
the Federal Government in
check?
A. James Madison said the
people can safely rely on the
disposition of local legislators
to erect barriers against the en-
croachments of the Federal
Government. Therefore, it is
the duty of all States to keep
the Federal Government in
check. Local officials are ab-
solutely an integral part of
maintaining the balance of
power between the States and
Federal Government.
Q. Thomas Jefferson warned us
that Washington DC would at
times become “venal and op-
pressive.” If this were to hap-
pen today; who would the
people in your county be able
to turn to for peace, safety, and
protection?
A. The Sheriff and other local
officials like the Constable and
Justice of the Peace.
Q. Article 6 of the U S Consti-
tution requires each public of-
ficial to swear an oath of
allegiance to the Constitution.
What is it that you do to keep
this oath?
A. A true conservative candi-
date most certainly should have
read the Constitution and stud-
ied what the Framers of Amer-
ica intended. They should have
also studied the Declaration of
Independence and know what
the purpose of all government
is. The candidate should ac-
knowledge that they will only
enforce laws that coincide with
the Constitution.
