IAP Overview

Motivations: Compute Needs are Evolving Very Rapidly

– Power is the Key Limitation as Compute, Storage and Networking Converge

Overarching Goal: Reduce Compute Energy Demands by 2-3 Orders of Magnitude by the Next Decade*

– Enable an Exa-op Data Center that Consumes <10MW.

– Requires collaboration throughout HW and SW value chain

Mission: Foster Innovation in HW and SW that Enables the Future Data Center and Cloud

– Hyperscale servers, Storage Technologies, Orchestration Software, Networking,…

– Cloud Workshops and Training on University Campuses

CMU Student Profiles

I am in 2nd year of MS; I want to attend the OpenStack workshop. I worked on an 8-month long project on OpenStack where we built a scheduler-as-a-service inside Nova Scheduler. The blueprints are awaiting review.

I’m a Master of Software Engineering student, switching from App developer to Cloud Infrastructure developer. I am working on implementation of a feature set (Load Balancer) on OpenStack. I strongly believe this training is right for me and that I’m a good candidate.

I am 2nd year master student in CS. I built a private cloud with Openstack and therefore have basic knowledge on the components. I want to make some contributions to Openstack.
