2015 FINAL REPORT The Shakespeare Theatre Company gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the following companies and friends who helped make Will on the Hill possible: WILL HILL ON THE On, Monday, June 15, the Shakespeare Theatre Company held its 13 th annual Will on the Hill event. The most successful event to date, we welcomed a phenomenal cast and distinguished Members of Congress, national media personalities, corporate VIPs, and senior Hill staff to Sidney Harman Hall and raised over $500,000 for the Company’s year-round education and community engagement programs. Following the pre-performance reception with the Who’s Who of Washington, the evening’s guests settled in for the show. The Will on the Hill performance was preceded by a disco-style take on the wrestling scene from As You Like It prepared by the Company’s star Text Alive! class from West Springfield High School—a key demonstration of the programs supported by Will on the Hill’s fundraising efforts. The illustrious cast of Peter Byrne’s original play, Midsummer Madness, then took the stage, featuring Helen Hayes Award-Winning STC Affiliated Artist Edward Gero (Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2), Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black), and Tony Award® Nominee Brandon Uranowitz (An American in Paris). Fellow cast members included Senators Chris Coons and Patrick Leahy, Fox News’ Rich Edson, NPR’s Robert Siegel, The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank, The Weekly Standard’s Kelly Jane Torrance, and nearly 20 U.S. Representatives including Reps. Jim McDermott, Elise Stefanik, Eleanor Holmes Norton, and Ryan Zinke. The show “warmed our bipartisan-craving hearts” (Roll Call), finding creative ways to work in good-natured jabs at contemporary political issues as the play centered around the theme of working across the aisle—with the power of Shakespeare triumphing in the end! The evening concluded with a buffet dinner attended by Will on the Hill sponsors, cast members, the Honorary Hill Advisory Committee, and Will on the Hill’s Media Partner The Hill. On behalf of the Shakespeare Theatre Company and all those who participate in its programming, we would like to extend our most sincere gratitude and appreciation to all who made this year’s Will on the Hill possible. Your commitment is crucial to the continued success of the Company’s work to bring arts education programs to so many high school and middle school classrooms throughout the D.C. metro area each year. YOUR GIFT SUPPORTS STC’S ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS

We seek to empower learners to think critically, question freely, share openly, and engage in an ongoing exploration of Shakespeare.

The central mission of the Shakespeare Theatre Company Education Department is to deepen understanding of, appreciation for and connection to classic theatre in diverse learners of all ages through accessible programs that celebrate multiple perspectives. We seek to fulfill this mission through strengthening our collaborations with schools locally and nationally, engaging in scholarly dialogue with community and audience members, and increasing our use of technology.
