• Leaders are hard to find and are far from perfect,
• but the best possess most of the key 10 qualities of leadership.
• Those include setting high standards of performance and integrity, transparency and fairness, and humility.
• Leaders need to acknowledge those who came before them and helped shape the enterprise -- it's not all their own doing…
Family was in brokerage business; graduated from Tufts and Harvard; intern at Goldman Sachs; mentor was Sandy Weill.
Steve Jobs -
• We have no committees at Apple. We are organized as a start up. We are the biggest start up on the planet.
• You have to be run by ideas not hierarchy.
• You need a lot of passion for what you're doing because its so hard. If you don’t, any rational person would give up; and you have to do it over a sustained period of time.
Steve Jobs enrolled in Reed College, but dropped out after one semester. He liked to go to classes that weren't on his schedule and learn about random things like scripture and calligraphy. He traveled to India to search for enlightenment.
