LEADERSHIP COVENANT & EXPECTATIONS Campus Ministry leadership requires a high degree of commitment, which necessitates that students consider carefully when discerning if this is where God is leading them. The commitment is not only to a particular team, but also to Campus Ministry leadership as a whole. At all times, the expectation is that students will live the role of a Christian leader, in and out of Campus Ministry settings. Therefore, as a potential member of the Campus Ministry Leadership Team, living in the power of God’s grace, and believing that these commitments lead to health and life for others and myself, I aspire to: 1) Be a committed and faithful follower of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 2) Cultivate my relationship with Christ by intentionally taking time to be still and listen to God through prayer, Scripture, and other spiritual practices 3) Live publicly and privately in a manner that is consistent with my commitment to Christ and the relationship I have with Him 4) Demonstrate accountability to my fellow leaders and Campus Ministry staff by practicing honesty and authenticity 5) Regularly and actively participate in one of the CM weekly gatherings: The WELL (Sun @ 8:00pm) or The WELL Downtown (Sun @ 7:00pm) 6) Act in intentional ways to help build and maintain a welcoming, Christ-centered community 7) Honor God with my social conduct including: choosing to treat everyone as a valuable person, made in the image of God choosing sexual purity, modesty, and refraining from premarital sexual activity choosing to abstain from the illegal use of drugs and alcohol, as well as moderate and responsible legal use of all controlled substances choosing to guard what I watch, read, and listen to, knowing that what I take in effects who I am and how I serve. choosing to live an exemplary life in the areas of social media and online interactions, understand that everything I type, post, like, share, tweet, retweet, etc. represents CM @ GVSU and ultimately Jesus Christ. 8) Honor God with my intellect, in my studies, my vocation, my future 9) Respect all university student standards of conduct and the academic integrity policy 10) Fulfill the expectations of my specific ministry team 11) I will attend: Leadership Retreat August 27-28, 2015 @ SpringHill Camp Occasional CM Leadership Gatherings for support and encouragement (dates TBD) I have read the above. Knowing that I will need God’s grace both when I succeed and when I fail in them, I aspire to lead in accordance with these principles. By making this covenant I invite my fellow leaders and Campus Ministry staff to help keep me accountable to this covenant, and I commit myself to seeking out their help when struggles arise. I will endeavor to help others do the same. (Signature) (Date)
