What are the Myths about PMA?- Myth #1: Negative thinking is more realistic

• Heard negative person say not negative, just realistic?

• Thoughts (positive/negative) effect our environment- Negative thinking

o Mind automatically seek out confirmation the world is terrible placeo Seeing is believing and mind reinforces belief that reality is negativeo Downward spiralo Expect negative results, less likely to take risks and try new thingso Negative thinking masks impressions in fear

- Positive thinking works the same wayo Seek out positive choices and expect positive results o Move past fear and try things that others may believe “can’t be done”o Typically end in positive results

• Person’s thinking helps determine their reality - Negative thinking is realistic for negative thinker- Positive thinking also sees reality, just in different light- Both see own reality

What are the Myths about PMA?- Myth #2: Positive thinkers expect money bags to fall from sky

• Negative thinkers imagine positive thinkers expect desire will manifest itself if simply think positively about it- This couldn’t be further from the truth

• Everyone who accomplishes anything does it the same way- ‘Can-Do’ mindset- Believe attainable - Take action

17

Page 18: Leadership + PMA = Success · 2016. 7. 26. · Philosophy of optimistic disposition in every situation in one's life attracts positive changes and increases achievement 2. Employs

What are the Myths about PMA?- Myth #3: Positive thinking doesn’t change reality

• Believe positive thinking only ignores the reality/problem- Helps you see the problem in a new light - Don’t even see problems as problems

• PMA changes reality by allowing person act differently- Harvesting different results

• PMA creates mindset of abundance, enthusiasm and solutions- Free to think of new ways to solve problems b/c not limited by fear of failure- Realize this principle and shift thinking habits, miracles start popping up in life

“Successful men become successful only because they acquire the habit of thinking in terms of success.“ -Napoleon Hill

What are the Myths about PMA?- Myth #4: Positive thinkers have no clue about the real world

• Positive people have perfect lives with no real world hardships- Not so positive if endured difficult times

• Don’t know positive person who hasn’t had real/serious trials- Faced disappointment, death of loved ones, physical handicap, and etc- Difference is didn’t let experiences change outlook - PMA means control of own thoughts/feelings

“Responsibilities = our abilities to control our responses.” - Steven Covey

What are the Myths about PMA?- Myth #5: Positive thinkers are annoying/cheesy

• Positive people are annoying/cheesy- Spout platitudes and expect perfection- Not Tony Robbins infomercials - Healthy thinking- Smart living

• Don’t expect perfection, expect event best thing could have happened- Only event that happened- Moment has past - Cannot change the moment, so accept- Move to next moment

• External circumstances seem out of control, can always control our internal response
