We are committed as a facility to understanding our patients’ experiences and identifying ways to continually improve. We have partnered with the National Research Corporation, a survey expert, to administer new patient surveys.

Shortly after your visit here, you may receive a questionnaire asking about your patient experience. Please honestly answer the questions and return the completed form. We need to hear from you in order to improve our quality of care.

This is just another way that we’re listening to you, our valued patients.

From the Desk of the medical Director :Tackling nutrition

DO I NEED TO CHANGE WHAT I EAT?If you have any of the following health

conditions or have a family history of them, you might need to consider changes in your diet:•Highbloodpressure•Highcholesterol•Diabetes•Cancer

WHAT CHANGES CAN I MAKE NOW IN MY DIET?Almosteveryonecanbenefitfromcuttingback

on unhealthy fat. If you currently eat a lot of fat, try just one or two of the following changes:•Ratherthanfryingmeat,bake,grillorbroilit.Taketheskinoffbeforeeatingchickenorturkey.Eatfishatleastonceaweek.

•Cutbackonextrafat, suchasbutterormargarine on bread, sour cream on baked potatoes, and salad dressings. Use low-fat or non-fat versions of these condiments.

•Eatplentyoffruitsandvegetablesbothwithyourmeals and as snacks.

•Wheneatingawayfromhome, watchoutfor"hidden" fats (such as those in salad dressing and desserts) and larger portion sizes.

•Readthenutritionlabelsonfoodsbeforeyoubuythem. If you need help reading the labels, ask your doctor or your dietitian.

•Drinkno-calorieorlow-caloriebeverages,suchas water, unsweetened tea and diet soda. Sugar-sweetened drinks, such as fruit juice, fruit drinks, regular soft drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks, sweetenedorflavoredmilkandsweetenedicedtea can add lots of sugar and calories to your diet. But staying hydrated is important for good health.Balanced nutrition and regular exercise are good

for your health, even if your weight never changes. Try to set goals that you have a good chance of reaching, such as making one of the small changes listed above or walking more in your daily life.

For more nutrition tips, visit www.familydoctor.org.

March is National Nutrition Month. Good nutrition is one of the keys to good health. You can improve your nutrition by regularly eating foods that have a lot of vitamins and minerals in them, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat or non-fat dairy.
