Fox Walk to Detox In this nature immersion 4-week class we will pause, decompress, and practice guided mindfulness meditation combined with aromatherapy to soothe our senses, detox our bodies, and reset our hearts. Fermented Beverages & Homemade Vinegar We will craft a kefir “soda”, a switchel, and a shrub (a unique syrup, that contains fruit and/or herbs). Starting with herbs and starter cultures, you will learn to make the base for the switchel and shrub from scratch (homemade vinegar). Samples provided, and you will take home a culture, a bottled beverage crafted in class, and recipes.


Sourdough Bread Making Sourdough bread is made by the fermentation of dough using naturally occurring lactobacilli and yeast. It contains higher levels of folate and antioxidants than other breads. Learn how to make a sourdough starter from scratch, and then go through the di�erent bread making stages. We will bake a loaf of bread for sampling, and you will take home a starter and recipes.

Fireflies in the Gardens Have you ever watched fireflies and wondered how and why they create their own light? Joins us as we learn all about fireflies and explore what it is like to be a firefly on Olbrich’s Great Lawn. Class includes hands-on science explorations, a scavenger hunt, and a take home activity. Make a Felted Fantasy Garden Create your very own magical land and simple creatures to live and play there. We will use needle felting to create a small playscape on a piece of fabric. You decide how it will look - a magic pond, mushroom chairs, a small bridge, flower covered hills - the possibilities are endless. After learning the basics of needle felting, you will create small creatures to inhabit your new land - hedgehogs, bunnies, and maybe even a gnome child. All materials provided. Class fee includes one child/adult pair. Make Your Own Felted Butterfly Explore the magic of wet felting together with child and create a unique butterfly. Learn the basics of wet felting with Merino wool and use a pre-felted butterfly shape to make a pin or pendant. �ere is a lot of counting, wetting, rolling, and sharing in the process as a butterfly ‘emerges.’ Instructions given for a little bit of finishing at home. All felting materials supplied; bring an old hand towel and plastic bag to carry things home. No experience necessary. Instructor: Jan Falk, Artist

Twilight in the Gardens Experience the magic of twilight in Olbrich’s outdoor gardens prior to a full moon in August. The Greater Madison Writing Project, in partnership with Olbrich Botanical Gardens, is sponsoring camps for young writers (those entering grades 3-8) and high school writers (those entering grades 9-12). Participants will write daily in a beautiful environment, using Olbrich’s gardens and conservatory as inspiration for writing. The supportive environment is led by a staff of Greater Madison Writing Project Fellows and experienced teachers of writing whose goal is to inspire and support writers of all abilities. At the end of each camp, young writers will share their favorite pieces of writing from the week for their families and friends at an evening celebration. Each participant will contribute a piece of writing to be published in an anthology; each participant receives a copy. Register for one camp only – Limited space; register early and by the deadline.

GRADES 3-8 GRADE 9-12High School Writers Camp I Monday-Thursday, June 25-28, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (Family Event July 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m.)

If using your Olbrich volunteer appreciation card, you must register by the deadline for eligible classes.

In Person In-person registrations are accepted between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays at the Greeter’s Desk, located in the Visitor Center Lobby. Submit completed class registration form with check made payable to Olbrich Botanical Gardens or with credit card.

Payment Full payment is due at time of registration using check, cash, MasterCard, or Visa.

Confirmation Notices Email correspondence is used to provide registrants with the most current information for classes and programs, including confirmation notices. Your email address will not be shared with any other individual or organization.

Cancellations & Refunds Class registrants who cancel 7 or more days prior to the class are subject to a 20% processing fee (mini-mum of $5). Cancellations less than 7 days notice are non-refundable; please consider your payment a donation to Olbrich. Refunds are not given for missed classes.

Classes canceled by Olbrich due to low enrollment or hazardous weather conditions are fully refunded automatically. You will be notified by email and/or telephone as early as possible if a class is canceled. Olbrich is not responsible for lack of notification if you do not have an answering service.

Inclement Weather In cases of inclement weather, you will be notified by telephone and/or email as early as possible if a pro-gram is canceled. Olbrich is not responsible for lack of notification of you do not have an answering service.
