Persistence Pride Excellence

Congratulations to our Term 1 Gold Card Morning tea recipients who have worked very hard to achieve this very special award.

As the end of first term draws near, I would like to congratulate our students on a very successful start to the school year. We have enjoyed swimming carnivals, information sessions, meet the teacher nights, the election of our 2018 SRC, a school disco to celebrate Harmony Day, school photos, Easter celebrations and yet to enjoy a cross country carnival. Our school really is a very busy place!

A big thank you to our wonderful staff for their hard work throughout the term and to all those parents who assist the school in so many different ways.

School Anzac Ceremony I would like to invite members of our school community, parents and caregivers to our school Anzac Ceremony which will take place on Friday 13 April at 11.30am. In the past, we have had an amazing response with flowers for our wreaths so please support us again this year so that our wonderful ladies in the office can create beautiful floral tributes for our students to present during the service.

Coles Vouchers for Schools Sporting Equipment A huge thank you to all those parents and caregivers, family members, friends and supporters of Bligh Park Public school, who have been sending in Coles vouchers, placing them in the appropriate box at Coles or entering sporting vouchers on-line. We have a great many vouchers to send in and redeem for sports equipment for the school.

Once again thank you for your support.

Anzac Service Our Anzac Service this year will be held on Friday, 13 April at 11.30am. All members of our school community are welcome to come along and be a part of this special service.

We are asking our students to provide flowers and greenery from their gardens to be made into wreaths by our office ladies. Students appreciate this opportunity to reflect and make a contribution to this significant commemorative service.

Flowers and greenery may be taken to the front office Thursday afternoon, 12 April or before school on Friday morning, 13 April, thank you.

P&C News Easter Hat Egg Donations The P&C would like to thank the school community for their support in buying raffle tickets and donating Easter eggs for prizes. Due to your generosity, we were able to create a number of Easter baskets for prizes to be won on our Easter parade afternoon.

School Cross Country Come and enjoy lunch with your child/children. If you are planning to come along and watch your child/children participate in the school’s cross country on Wednesday 11 April, you may wish to order your lunch from the canteen so that you can enjoy lunch with your child/children.

An order form has been sent home previously with the details of lunch options available on the day. Order forms are also available from the school office and canteen or may be downloaded from the school website and Skoolbag app. Orders for parents/caregivers should be returned to the canteen by Monday, 9 April please.

Mother’s Day Stall Our Mother’s Day Stall this year will be held on Thursday, 10 May. There will be gifts available for students to purchase for their parent/caregiver and grandparents if they wish. Money is to be sent on the day and handed to the class teacher please, as students will have the opportunity to visit the stall with their teacher and class. A reminder note will be sent home closer to the event.

Thank you for supporting our P&C, all funds raised benefit the students of Bligh Park PS.

Uniform Shop Just a reminder that we have limited stock of parkas left for you to purchase at $65 each from the uniform shop. Order forms are available from the office or uniform shop which is open Tuesday and Thursday 2:45pm to 3:15pm.

Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser On Saturday, 28 April 2018 our P&C Association and school community has the opportunity to raise funds for the benefit of our students.

Bligh Park Public School P&C will manage the Bunnings BBQ at McGraths Hill between 8.00am and 4.00pm on Saturday, 28 April 2018 and we are asking for your help in manning the BBQ. Any assistance our family members (over the age of 18) may be able to volunteer for any part of the day, even for half an hour or hour, would be very much appreciated. A roster will be available at the office where you can leave your name, contact and details of your availability.

Thank you for your support of our fundraising ventures.

2018 Cross Country Update

As you are aware we will be holding our cross country at school this year, on Wednesday 11 April. This year we are trying something new and will be presenting the students with their ribbons on the day of the carnival, not at an assembly as we have done previously.

We have chosen to do this as we would like to recognise the achievements of our cross country students this term. Thankyou for your support in this new endeavour. We are all looking forward to a wonderful day at our cross country and we would love you to come along and join in the fun.

We are an

Earth Hour School! On Friday 23 March Bligh Park students participated in Earth Hour Schools’ Day. All classes including the office building took part in switching off electricity for the day and enjoyed completing Earth Hour activities. Students in 2K enjoyed being ‘power police patrollers’ to ensure that all classes in the school were using minimal electricity. Congratulations to our winning classes, 2K, 2H, 4B, 5W and 1-6C, who used minimal electricity all day!
