STEP 1
Return Address and Main Address
Return Address – Tab over and type your address near the right margin, followed by the date
Ex: 5678 Right Street

Main Address: Type or write this information with the left Margin. The Reader’s name goes on the second line

Step 2
Greeting:Always address your “thank you,” letter to a
specific person. Use conventional “dear” followed by “Mr.” or “Ms.” followed by the first name and/or surname with a colon or comma

Never send a “thank you” letter to a person using his/her job title
Ex: Dear Career Counselor: Dear Career Counselor,
Step 3
Two average length paragraphs should make up this section. In the first paragraph thank the reader for whatever it is you are thanking them for. Perhaps a position you applied for at a job. Convey your enthusiasm and it would be helpful to convey the date of the interview. Mention an interesting topic or rewarding moment.

Last Paragraph:
Thank the reader again (maybe for considering you for a position). State your enthusiasm and confidence again, and that you look forward to seeing/hearing from them again.

Close: Make a single return after the last paragraph and type the close, aligning it with your return address
Any of the following words or phrases can be used: “Sincerely,” or “Cordially,” If the letter isn’t business like and more personal, you may use “Love,” or “Yours Truly.”

Handwritten thank-yous can sometimes have more meaning especially depending on personality and penmanship, a typed letter can also be appropriate

Edit your “Thank – you” letter carefully. Ask someone you trust to check it over and give you constructive feedback.
Look for *Misspelled, repeated, or misused words*
Stationary
If you decide to hand write your letter, use plain, light – colored stationary – solid white, off white, or gray is best.
