Dear Shareholder,
We had an excellent third quarter! As
expected, our operating performance
improved substantially as we moved
beyond the effects of our second quarter
acquisition. Quarterly profits were $902k, a 92% increase over
the second quarter. Our balance sheet is extremely liquid and
poised for loan growth. We plan to provide a more detailed
analysis of the changes in our balance sheet when year-end
financials are available.
During the quarter, we continued our ten-year celebration by
continuing to support and spotlight worthy charities in our
communities. This quarter we focused on The Mt. Juliet Help
Center, Wilson County CASA and Big Brothers of Mt. Juliet.
You will also see in this newsletter where our employees spent
time supporting breast cancer research, veterans and children.
We’re so proud to be able to play a part in so many great
organizations.
Please keep First Freedom in mind when anything financial is
being considered. We love the fact that our largest source of
new business is from existing customer referrals. I also invite
you to check out our website as we have recently made some
major enhancements. Thank you for being a First Freedom
shareholder and please stop by to see us soon.

Juliet, where his family has been in the ministry for more than seventy years through their service as leaders of the Mt. Juliet Church of God. Mr. Sellars is a graduate of Friendship Christian School in Lebanon and received his degree in Mortuary Science from the John A. Gupton Mortuary College in Nashville. He is a licensed Funeral Director and a licensed Embalmer. Mr. Sellars and his wife Becky (Edwards) have been married for 20 years and have two sons, Storm and Luke, and a daughter, Reese. WHY DO YOU ENJOY BEING ON THE FIRST FREEDOM BOARD OF DIRECTORS?
“To me, it’s all about relationships. I truly enjoy my fellow board members and the time we get to spend together. We have all drawn close to each other – they are an extended part of my family; they are like brothers and sisters to me. We see each other at board meetings but also at other community functions. I just enjoy the fact that we have grown really close and that we all care for our community.”
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO BE A PART OF THE BOARD?
“I think personally, coming on the board when I was 29, I knew right then that it would be a great opportunity, especially knowing that John Lancaster, John Bradshaw and Ken Howell were starting the bank. Being around successful folks like we have on our board, the connections it has enabled me to make and the opportunity it has provided me to give back to the community, has made me a better businessman. It feels
really good to be part of that. The bank has been very successful and I think that reflects well on my business. When I was first asked to be on the board, I thought it was an honor to be involved with so many successful business people in the community.”
WHAT DOES COMMUNITY MEAN TO YOU?
“Community is like family. Our family has been in Wilson County for many years and you know, being in the funeral business, everyone that comes in shares their family stories — they knew my grandfather, they know my dad or uncles — it’s pretty special to be part of that. Community to me really goes back to family.”
WHERE DO YOU SEE WILSON COUNTY GOING IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS?
“I think that overall Wilson County is probably in better position than any other county surrounding Nashville. There are so many people moving here from all over the US, it’s a destination place. I think it’s obvious with all the new schools and housing developments that this growth is not going to stop any time soon. The future is bright for Lebanon, Mt. Juliet and also for surrounding counties like Sumner or Putnam. Putnam County is a hot spot right now and seems to serve as a hub for the whole Upper-Cumberland region. I am glad that the bank has made a significant investment in our three new offices there too; it can only further help the continuous development of those communities.”
