¨ Groundbreaking 14-year study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology in December 2004.

¨ Studied 154,971 pts with cancer, tx’d with conventional chemotherapy.

¨ Study Results:“The overall contribution of curative and adjuvant cytotoxic chemotherapy to 5-year survival in adults was estimated to be 2.3% in Australia and 2.1 % in The USA”.

5

6

3/4/20

4

¨ The “2.1% average” is deceptive because some cancers DO respond better to chemo than others:¡ Ex: testicular cancer, chemo 41.8% effective toward

5-year survival.¡ Ex: Hodgkins Disease, chemo 35.8% effective toward

5-year survival.https://www.chrisbeatcancer.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/contribution-of-chemotherapy-to-5-year-survival.pdf

7

¨ Some patients would have chemotherapy for a likely survival benefit of 1 week.

¨ Others would NOT choose chemotherapy, even for a benefit of 24 months.

¨ Still others would not choose chemotherapy for any survival benefit.

¨ Some patients would NOT have chosen chemotherapy if they had been more fully informed.

¨ Current smoking has declined from 20.9% in 2005 to 13.7% in 2018, and the proportion of ever smokers who have quit has increased.

¨ American adults are eating “better” - consuming fewer calories coming from fat and saturated fat, consuming less cholesterol and eating more fiber, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service.

9

¨ Only one in three adults receive the recommended amount of physical activity each week.

¨ Only one in three children are physically active every day.

¨ Although “better”, the American diets still exceed the recommended limits in calories from solid fats and added sugars; refined grains; sodium; and saturated fat.

¨ Recent reports project that by 2030, half of all adults (115 million adults) in the United States will be obese.

¨ Around 70 per cent of all cardiovascular cases and deaths are due to modifiable risks, (HTN, high cholesterol, diet, smoking, etc).

¨ Like cardiovascular disease, we can attribute the cause of many cancers, in aggregate, due to MODIFIABLE risks such as smoking and alcohol use.

¨ But are we overlooking some other important risk factors?

¨ According to various estimates, the U.S. military sprayed approximately 11-12 million gallons of Agent Orange over nearly 10% South Vietnam between 1961 and 1971.

¨ One study estimated that between 2.1 million and 4.8 million Vietnamese were directly exposed to Agent Orange.

¨ One of the most heavily used chemical herbicides in agricultural history.

¨ Its use has increased 300-fold since it was introduced in 1974.

¨ Use increased heavily after the introduction of herbicide-resistant, Roundup Ready GMOs in 1996.

¨ It is also used as a pre-harvest drying agent on non-GMO crops such as wheat, barley, and oats.

¨ FDA-registered lab tests have found extremely high levels of glyphosate in a multitude of food products.

¨ Claims that Americans eat millions of GMO meals with NO ill effects are UNSCIENTIFIC and dishonest.

¨ NO HUMAN EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES HAVE BEEN DONE to establish whether GMO foods may be affecting Americans’ health.

¨ Because most GMOs are NOT labelled, there is no way of tracing any effects.

26

3/4/20

14

¨ Most animal feeding studies on GMOs are short-medium term studies.

¨ LONG-TERM, multi-generational studies are needed, as these are often suggestive of harmful health effects.

¨ Long-term studies are not currently required by GMO regulators anywhere in the world.

¨ An estimated 80,110 new cancer cases were associated with suboptimal intake of seven dietary factors including¡ low intake of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains¡ high intake of processed meats, red meats, total

dairy products, and sugary sweetened beverages.

33

¨ Despite ongoing efforts to combat it, the problem continues to worsen.

¨ A 2018 study published in JAMA found that the percentage of obese adults age 20 and over increased from 33.7% in 2007-2008 to 39.6% in 2015-2016.

¨ Between 1986 and 2006, nearly one in five deaths among adults age 40 to 85 were tied to overweight and obesity, according to the American Journal of Public Health.

¨ BPA (bisphenol A). BPA = an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s.

¨ Research shows that BPA can seep into food/beverages from containers that are made with it.

¨ Exposure to BPA is a concern because of possible health effects on:¡ The brain and prostate gland of fetuses, infants & children. ¡ Also linked to childhood behavioral issues¡ Additional research suggests a possible link between BPA and

increased blood pressure.

¨ In addition to BPA, most plastics contain additives:¡ BPF (hormone/ endocrine disruptors - affect thyroid function

and the metabolism)¡ Brominated flame retardants

ú Shown to have harmful effects, especially when exposure occurs in developmental stages.

ú Noted disruption in fertility cycles, delayed neurodevelopment in children, immune disorders, and a higher risk of hormone-related cancers

¡ The vast majority of additives have never been tested at all.

A worker in a recycling plant in Nairobi, Kenya sorts plastic bottles. Baz Ratner of Reuters.

49

¨ Plastic, and most other so-called “recyclables” are not truly recyclable.

¨ For these materials, incineration is best. ¨ It is safer because it does not require the waste to

be sorted. Its better for the environment because there is no wastewater from washing the trash.

¨ The volume of trash is reduced to about 15%-20% of the original.

¨ Harmful bacteria is killed and it reduces pollutants to safe component molecules.

¨ Once the ash is processed for valuable metals, it is taken to a landfill for disposal, but occupies only one-fifth or less of the space it would have occupied before it was incinerated.

¨ The ash is safer for the environment. ¨ Some misguided politicians have crippled

waste incineration with costly regulatory demands, to the detriment of their countries.

“Since many of the tumor-promoting effects in our study were seen at low to moderate exposure levels…

thus well below exposure limits for the users of mobile phones, further studies are warranted to

investigate the underlying mechanisms. Our findings may help to understand the repeatedly reported

increased incidences of brain tumors in heavy users of mobile phones.”

¨ Current cellular phone safety regulations were established in the United States by the FCC in 1996.

¨ The FCC ????

68

3/4/20

35

¨ The regulations were based on studies which measured the level of EMR penetrating the plexiglass head of a simulated 200 pound man.

¨ The studies were designed to measure the specific absorption rate (SAR), which is a measure of the rate at which energy is absorbed by the body when exposed to cellular phone EMR.

¨ The FCC set an exposure limit of 1.6 watts per kilogram of tissue. Any cellular phone functioning below this limit is considered to be safe.

69

¨ The SAR test is only 30 minutes and does not reflect the total amount of EMR exposure that consumers experience with more prolonged use.

¨ Furthermore, FCC guidelines do not address the issue of risks associated with direct skin contact with cellphones.

¨ This is a critical issue, because long-term consequence of the direct thermal effect of EMR on developing breast tissue, and other tissues for extended duration has not been documented.

https://www.hindawi.com/journals/crim/2013/354682/

70

3/4/20

36

Unlike older cellular devices, smartphones have the ability to regularly transmit information,

sending and receiving an intermittent signal even when the user of the device is not actively

handling it. The accumulation of this passive exposure to EMR is also not well studied.

https://www.hindawi.com/journals/crim/2013/354682/

71

¨ FCC has not addressed the issue of skin contact.¨ Cellular phone manufacturers typically place a

warning in their manuals stating that direct contact with the skin should be avoided.

¨ For example, the iPhone user manual advises to keep the phone 1.5 cm or more away from the body.

¨ Other manufactures recommend using an approved holster to carry the phone and to keep the phone 15 mm away from the body when the device is transmitting.

https://www.hindawi.com/journals/crim/2013/354682/

72

37

OBJECTIVES:The objective was to analyze the association between mobile phone exposure and primary central nervous system tumors (gliomas and meningiomas) in adults.CONCLUSIONS:These additional data support previous findings concerning a possible association between heavy mobile phone use and brain tumors.

73

¨ Many studies link low-level wireless radio frequency radiation exposures to a long list of adverse biological effects, including:

¡ single and double strand DNA breaks¡ oxidative damage¡ disruption of cell metabolism¡ generation of stress proteins

https://www.electricsense.com/5g-radiation-dangers/

74

3/4/20

38

¨ In 2011 the World Health Organization (WHO) classified radio frequency radiation as a possible 2B carcinogen.

¨ More recently the National Toxicology Program concluded that radio frequency radiation of the type currently used by cell phones can cause cancer.

https://www.electricsense.com/5g-radiation-dangers/

75

¨ 5G mobile technology uses its own new frequency bands with speeds that will be unparalleled.

¨ Speeds will be up to 100 gigabits per second, which is 100 times faster than current 4G speeds.

¨ The past cellular network generations operated at around 1 to 3 gigahertz (GHz). 5G signals operate at three different sets of bandwidths. Low-Band 5G and Mid-Band 5G use frequencies up to 6 GHz. High-Band frequencies will use 24 GHz

¨ The High-Band frequencies will introduce the millimeter wave, which starts at 24 GHz.

https://www.defendershield.com/5G

76

3/4/20

39

¨ Of the few studies done on 5G, many are misleading because they do not pulse the waves.

¨ This is important because research on microwaves demonstrates that pulsed waves have more profound biological effects on our body compared to non-pulsed waves.

¨ Previous studies, for instance, show how certain pulse rates can lead to DNA strand breaks.
