An infinitive is when the verb is still in its natural state. It has the ending still attached (for example –er) and when you translate it to English, the verb has “to” attached.

Travaill =

work

er

to

How do I know if that verb is an ifinitive?

1) Ending attached (-er, -ir, -re)

2) Translates with “to”

Making the STEM of a verb ending in -er

1. Take the infinitive (to + verb)

2. Remove the –er (drop it like it’s hot)
