score is in C piccolo sounds as written double bass sounds as written grace notes begin slightly before beat or slightly after as notated.
+ - + - + - denotes irregular pitch fluctuation in flutes and brass. The most desirable effect would be a fluctuation at the microtonal level. A “shimmering” effect of pitch fluctuation is desired. horn in F uses right hand to stop (+) or open (o) notes trumpet uses a plunger mute to stop (+) or open (o) notes trombone and tuba use a straight mute when called for (con sordino) + - + - (see above)
string glissandi begin immediately on note indicated and gliss. through the duration of the note value. These glissandi often move through specific and non-specific rhythmic gestures. At these rhythmic gestures, the player may bow the rhythms at unspecific pitches. Non-notated harmonics in strings may be played anywhere and may also be changed within gesture. The rhythms notated in ms 19-21 and elsewhere are meant to show proportional increase and decrease of speed by each individual. When applying maximum bow pressure, the desired result is the “subtone” that occurs. A secondary result of the crackling or scratching of the string will also create a powerful effect. Please increase bow pressure incrementally for maximum effect.
string glissandi begin immediately on note indicated and gliss. through the duration of the note value.
LECTIO DIVINA is made up of 4 parts that can be performed separately or in any combination as long as they retain their order. The durations of each part: lectio duration:06 meditatio duration:11 oratio duration:03 contemplatio duration:04 15 possible combinations: :03 oratio :04 meditatio :06 lectio :07 oratio+meditatio :09 lectio+oratio :10 lectio+meditatio :11 contemplatio :13 lectio+oratio+meditatio :14 contemplatio+oratio :15 contemplatio+meditatio :17 lectio+contemplatio :18 contemplatio+oratio+meditatio :20 lectio+contemplatio+oratio :21 lectio+contemplatio+meditatio :24 lectio+contemplatio+oratio+meditatio Use the connectives only when connecting parts. Do not use for ending or beginnings. Connectives are placed in brackets and should be omitted in such cases.
