Preface and Acknowledgements

The JCM Conference has arrived at its second event, following JCM 2014 held inToulouse (F) in 2014. The cycle of conferences started in 2003 with biennial editionsorganized by ADM (Design and Methods of Industrial Engineering Society—Italy)and INGEGRAF (Asociación Española de Ingeniería Gráfica—Spain). In the con-joint conference held at Venice in June 2011 (IMProVe 2011) also AIP-PRIMECA(Ateliers Inter-établissements de Productique—Pôles de Resources Informatiquespour la MECAnique—France) took part the event as organizer.

JCM 2016 has been organized by Rapid Prototyping and Geometric ModellingLaboratory of the University of Catania (IT)—Department of Electronic, Electricand Informatics Engineering (DIEEI).

JCM 2016 has gathered researchers, industry experts in the domain of“Interactive and Integrated Design and Manufacturing for Innovation” to dissemi-nate their major and recent results, studies, implementations, tools and techniques atan international level.

The overall number of authors involved has been 404. JCM 2016 attracted138 abstract submissions that became 135 papers. Due to a peer-review process,123 papers have been selected and accepted for presentation at conference, aspodium or poster session. The precious reviewing work has been possible because111 persons have been involved in the process, which has been coordinated by24 track chairs, providing not less than two reviews per paper, for a total of381 reviews.

The book is organized in several parts, each one corresponding to the tracksof the Conference. Each part is briefly introduced by the track chairs, that followedthe review process.

We would like to personally thank all the people involved in the review processfor their strong commitment and expertise demonstrated in this not easy,time-consuming and very important task. We would like to thank the persons of the
