1 LECTURES/ TALKS AND INTERVIEWS PUBLISHED IN IIC QUARTERLY A BRIEF BACKGROUND INFORMATION It was reported in the Report for the Year 1961 that the Centre runs a quarterly News Bulletin and so far only three issues have been published. In order to make, the lectures and talks delivered at the Centre, available to members, it was reported that complete set of booklets were printed in 1961 and will be presented on the occasion of the inauguration of the Centre in January 1962. Report for the Year 1963 indicates that it was decided to bring out a quarterly Journal with provisional title, ‘International Understanding’. It will contain inter alia précis of lectures delivered at the Centre. Accordingly, the current practice of printing these lectures separately has been suspended. Report for the Year 1964 indicates that an Editorial Advisory Board under the Chairmanship of Dr Karan Singh was constituted. Shri V. M. Kaul was appointed as Editor and plans have been completed for bringing the Quarterly Journal called, ‘CONSPECTUS’ and the first number is expected to be issued at the end of February 1965. Report for the Year 1965 indicates that four issues of CONSPECTUS were published in 1965. Five of the lectures delivered during the year have been published in pamphlets. Report for the Year 1966 informs that Quarterly Journal CONSPECTUS has completed the second year. Report for the Year 1967 informs that after a review of two years’ experience and on the recommendation of the Editorial Advisory Board, the publication of CONSPECTUS was discontinued from June 1967. Seven lecture pamphlets were also published. After the discontinuation of CONSPECTUS in 1967, no journal was available in the IIC till 1974. Report for the Year 1974 informs that Centre’s journal has been revived under the new title of India International Centre Quarterly which contains lectures, invited contributions and in-depth book reviews. Two issues were brought in. the pamphlet series having extended essays has also been instituted. The Indian Nuclear Test in a Global Perspective by Shri K. Subrahmanyam, Director, IDSA and Advances in Indian Agriculture, management education in India and Film Making in India are being planned. Since then IIC Quarterly continued to be published. The First formal editor of IIC Quarterly was Mr. A. Ravi Sekhar who remained till May 1975 before Smt. Mira Sinha was appointed in June 1975 as Editor. Dr. Geeti Sen joined as Editor in 1982 and for a short duration of three years from 1998 to 2000 Smt. Sima Sharma took over as Editor before Dr. Geeti Sen resumed the post. Dr. Sen was re-designated as Chief Editor in 2003. Ms. Ira Pande was appointed as Chief Editor in 2006. News Bulletin was instituted in 1975 and Ms. Premola Ghose was entrusted with the responsibility. This was replaced with IIC Diary, a bi-monthly publication, in 1987.

A BRIEF BACKGROUND INFORMATION

It was reported in the Report for the Year 1961 that the Centre runs a quarterly News Bulletin and so far only three issues have been published. In order to make, the lectures and talks delivered at the Centre, available to members, it was reported that complete set of booklets were printed in 1961 and will be presented on the occasion of the inauguration of the Centre in January 1962.

Report for the Year 1963 indicates that it was decided to bring out a quarterly Journal with provisional title, ‘International Understanding’. It will contain inter alia précis of lectures delivered at the Centre. Accordingly, the current practice of printing these lectures separately has been suspended.

Report for the Year 1964 indicates that an Editorial Advisory Board under the Chairmanship of Dr Karan Singh was constituted. Shri V. M. Kaul was appointed as Editor and plans have been completed for bringing the Quarterly Journal called, ‘CONSPECTUS’ and the first number is expected to be issued at the end of February 1965.

Report for the Year 1965 indicates that four issues of CONSPECTUS were published in 1965. Five of the lectures delivered during the year have been published in pamphlets.

Report for the Year 1966 informs that Quarterly Journal CONSPECTUS has completed the second year.

Report for the Year 1967 informs that after a review of two years’ experience and on the recommendation of the Editorial Advisory Board, the publication of CONSPECTUS was discontinued from June 1967. Seven lecture pamphlets were also published.

After the discontinuation of CONSPECTUS in 1967, no journal was available in the IIC till 1974.

Report for the Year 1974 informs that Centre’s journal has been revived under the new title of India International Centre Quarterly which contains lectures, invited contributions and in-depth book reviews. Two issues were brought in. the pamphlet series having extended essays has also been instituted. The Indian Nuclear Test in a Global Perspective by Shri K. Subrahmanyam, Director, IDSA and Advances in Indian Agriculture, management education in India and Film Making in India are being planned.

Since then IIC Quarterly continued to be published.

The First formal editor of IIC Quarterly was Mr. A. Ravi Sekhar who remained till May 1975 before Smt. Mira Sinha was appointed in June 1975 as Editor. Dr. Geeti Sen joined as Editor in 1982 and for a short duration of three years from 1998 to 2000 Smt. Sima Sharma took over as Editor before Dr. Geeti Sen resumed the post. Dr. Sen was re-designated as Chief Editor in 2003. Ms. Ira Pande was appointed as Chief Editor in 2006.

News Bulletin was instituted in 1975 and Ms. Premola Ghose was entrusted with the responsibility. This was replaced with IIC Diary, a bi-monthly publication, in 1987.
