ReliablecontrollersareapreconditionforefficientLEDlighting.That’swhyLATABhasdevelopedanextensiverangeofitsowncontrollers.ThesenotonlymaximizethelifetimeofthesensitiveLEDs,butautomaticallyadapttotheconnectedlighthead.

TheproductfeaturesoftheLATABcontrollersarenumerous:designssuitableforindustrialuse,adjustablelightintensity,upto4channels,PCoperationviaEther-netorotherinterfaces,aswellasstand-alonesolutions,eitherforcontinuous/switchingmodeoperationor strobemode,withadjustablepulsedurationsfrom 50μsto1.5ms.

Thecontrollersarebasedonconstantcurrentgeneratorswitha“plugandplay”featurethatautomaticallyadaptstotheconnectedLEDlightforexactlightintensity.

The major differentiating factor of LATAB controllers is the illumination technique:

Continuous/switching Mode

Theadjustableparameterforcontinuous/switchingmodecontrollersislightintensityeitherviaaninternalorexternalpotentiometer.Intensitycanalsobemodulatedbythevoltagefromzero(0V)tofullbrightness(10V).

Continuous/switchingmodecontrollersareequippedwiththe“longflash”feature:Thelongflashfunctionisakindoftrigger-controlledlight.Lightstartswithtriggerpulseandlastsaslongasthetriggerpulseison.

Inthelongflashmodedoubleintensityisavailable,thatmeansthatlightintensityistwicethestandardintensity.Indoubleintensity(DI)modeON-timeislimitedtofiveseconds,followedautomaticallybyfivesecondsOFF-time.ShorterON-timedoubleintensitypulsesarenotlimitedandcanberepeatedatusersdemand.

Risetimeisabout1.5msecandfalltimeabout10to 15msec.

Strobe Mode

Theadjustableparametersforstrobecontrollersarelightintensityandstrobepulselength.Intensitycanalsobemodulatedbythevoltagefromzero(0V)tofullbright-ness(10V).

ForPC-controlledunitsatriggerpulsedelayisalsoavai-lable.Strobecontrollersprovide5timesmoreintensitycomparedtocontinuous/switchingdevices.

Instrobemodethepulselengthistuneablebyinternalsettimefrom50to1500µsec.Riseandfalltimeisafewµsec.

A second differentiating factor of LATAB controllers is the interface:

Ethernet Interface

ThesecontrollerscommunicatebyEthernetprotocol.Inprinciplethisallowsanunlimitednumberofunitstobeconnectedtothesamecomputer.Whenusingthetestprogramthenumberislimitedto8controllers.Thetrig-gersignalisconnectedtothecontrollerbyaseparateconnector.

RS-232 Interface

TheRS-232interfaceisconverted(withintheCOM-portconnectoritself)toRS-485,enablingupto16unitstobeconnectedtothesameCOM-portinaso-calledmultidropsystem.Theseunitsaredeliveredwithatest/demoPC-softwarewhichcanalsobeusedinrealapplications.
