Lighting is the second biggest user of electricity in production and warehouse areas. Traditional HID sources (high bays) not only consume large amounts of electricity and have a short lifespan, but the heat generated from these light sources may require additional cooling to keep temperatures low. This is particularly counter- productive in refrigerated environments. Although linear fl uorescent lamps can reduce energy consumption they tend to lose light output faster than LED systems, resulting in a shorter lifespan. Amongst other advan-tages, especially in the reduction of maintanance costs, LED is the ideal solution for lighting requirements in industrial and warehouse applications.

Lighting must be designed specifi cally according to the users’ individual needs. For the fi rst time, LED technology offers for illumination a combination of optimally adapted lighting to the needs of its users and low energy consumption.

LED lighting is safe, powerful and durable. In any case, the switch to LED lighting is your fi nancial gain. Furthermore you will not only realise fi nancial savings but invest in quality that will be appreciated by both your employees, as well as your visitors and customers.

Switch off your old industrial lighting today rather than tomorrow! Our team has experienced specialists who will help you in creating a comprehensive solution to optimize lighting on your premises. Don’t miss out on the benefi ts of modern LED lighting and contact us.

HOW TO ILLUMINATEYOUR SPACES

WAREHOUSES

In storage areas light is needed for navigating within the hall, fi nding and identifying goods and for avoiding accidents. According to the various requirements there are different needs for lighting. A warehouse needs not to be a dark or gloomy place. With the right lighting technology, such as the hall lighting from LEDvolution, warehouses can be very pleasant working environments. The LED high bay luminaires from LEDvolution or T-Net replace 250, 400, 750 and 1000W HID high bays with which signifi cant energy savings can be achieved. An important argument for modern LED high bays is the si-gnifi cantly reduced down time after a power failure: Unlike HID high bays, LED lighting does not require any start-up time and therefore provides full light output immediately after power-up.

PRODUCTION AREAS

The requirements for lighting in production areas are very diverse. Diffi -cult environmental conditions due to dirt, dust, heat and moisture call for robust solutions. At the same time changing work processes require a quick and fl exible adjustment of lighting which must also comply with the European regulations for workplace lighting (EN 12464-1). High premises are another challenge, especially in regards to the lifespan of the lighting and complex maintenance work in hard to reach areas. For low ceilings the LEDvolution Track LED lighting system provides effi -cient solutions, while the range of LEDvolution LED high bays are ideal for high-ceilinged halls and areas with high ambient temperatures (+60° C).

COST OF THE HALL LIGHTINGAverage costs of lighting a warehouse (consumption, main-tenance and replacement) are about € 7,00 / m² per year. Switching to LED technology can reduce the energy consump-tion by 50 to 80%.

PREVENTION OF ERRORS AND ACCIDENTSA properly lit environment can contribute to the reduction of production errors. Adaptive lighting systems provide good work results and reduce the risk of accidents.

FLEXIBLE AND INDIVIDUALIt must be possible to adjust the lighting in a workshop fl exibly and individually to various working steps, spatial conditions or dif-fi cult lighting requirements. The modular principle of the LEDvolution Track LED system is the perfect solution here.

WORKSHOPS

The answer to “Which LED light fi xture is best suited to your workshop?“ depends on the type of work and the size of the workshop in question. Large-scale workshops require uniform interior lighting which is realised most easily with fi xed high bays and / or fl ood lights. Small workshops often require specialised illumination for individual work areas. This re-quirement can best be met with adaptable track light fi xtures such as the LEDvolution Track LED system. The success of workshop services is through concentration and hard work, as well as in the right workplace lighting. Dark or poorly lit workshops lead to frustration, eye strain, inju-ries and poor work performance.

LIGHT WHEN NEEDEDLEDvolution luminaires offer instant light when needed and do not require a warm-up or start-up. They are ideal when combined with motion detectors or a timer.

ECONOMICAL LIGHTINGWhen the zone is not in use, the lighting level may be reduced automatically and returned to 100% luminosity as soon as a ve-hicle arrives.

WEATHERPROOF AND ROBUSTPlaces for sports and leisure events require safe lighting that sa-tisfi es the demands of the sport, the spectators and television coverage.

COLD STORAGE AREAS

In refrigerated environments lighting is the second largest energy consu-mer. Conventional HID sources not only consume during their short life a lot of electricity but their biggest drawback is the heat generated during operation. This has a particularly negative impact in cold rooms. Line-ar fl uorescent lighting can reduce energy consumption but low ambient temperatures lead to a delayed start-up and a reduced light output. Since cold storage areas are used for very short periods only an immediate full light output is required. For technical reasons LED is clearly the ideal lighting option.

CAR PARKS AND OUTDOOR AREAS

Underground or closed spaces could be a source of anxiety for some people. It is therefore crucial to design such areas safe and welcoming with appropriate lighting. Accentuated lighting (300 lux at fl oor level) counteracts to the abrupt change from daylight to darkness. Inside, suf-fi cient and uniform lighting without shaded zones (75 lux at fl oor level for driving zones and parking spaces) must allow orientation. The walkways require a higher level of luminosity. The LEDvolution ECO PARKING LIGHT, LEDvolution TRI-PROOF or LEDvolution ECO FLOOD LIGHTS are the fi rst choice in the long run due to their good energy effi ciency. They enable the creation of an optimal lighting situation as well as the reduction of energy consumption.

SPORT VENUES AND EVENT SITES

In order to perform sporting competitions independent of daylight, a func-tional lighting system is essential. In addition to the lighting requirements, lighting installations must be extremely economical in order to keep the operating costs manageable. The PROBAY series from T-Net, due to their supremely robust and so-phisticated technology, will provide perfect lighting for many years. Tem-perature and weather resistant, as well as vibration-resistant design the PROBAY series combines lighting technology at the highest level with low consumption costs for sports stadiums, golf courses or ski slopes. For in-door areas, lighting not only has to be low in power consumption and low in maintenance but also impact-resistant. The LEDvolution SPORTSBAY is perfect for this application.

Lux is the (derived) SI unit of illuminance and its corresponding emitter size of the specifi c light emission. The luminous intensity is measured by the lux meter or calculated in simulations, eg, to determine if a work area is suffi ciently illuminated.

The uniformity (U0) is the ratio of the lowest illuminance (Emin) to the average illuminance (Em) in the valuation area (this value is a minimum value).

CRI, UGR:

The Colour Rendering Index (CRI) represents the quality of colour rendering of objects with artifi cial lighting and is measured in Ra (occasionally CRI). Sunlight has a Ra value of 100. The higher the Ra value, the more faithfully natural colours are reproduced. This is important for example in the product presentation of clothing.

The Unifi ed Glare Rating (UGR) is the upper limit on the limitation of direct glare. It is a process which aims to unify the evaluation of glare, worldwide. The lower the UGR value, the lower the discomfort glare.
