LED Science and Engineering to Lighting Luminaire

Progress has been constant in LED science, resulting in rapid improve-

ments in efficiencies and costs. As these gains have reached the mar-

ket, and the offerings have become more numerous, thus placing in-

creasing burdens on finding quality fixtures that meet acceptable per-

formance requirements.

Metro LED has extensive skills in analyzing all the components and sys-

tems that are integrated to create a lighting fixture. We have direct ex-

perience working with chip manufactures on improvements to light emit-

ting diodes, and the latest developments in LED arrays that integrate

the optical elements, substrates, thermal, mechanical, and electrical

interfaces into a solid-state light engine. We have applied and worked

with manufacturers to integrated these light engines into assemblies

and systems that include drivers and circuitry to build a complete light-

ing fixture that has to perform in the rugged conditions of the cus-

tomers site.

We understand how optical radiated power is converted into useful light,

and how the eye responds to this light. From these principles, Metro

understand how the elements of luminaire efficiency are derived from

both power and optical properties and components. Metro uses this

knowledge in finding fixtures that are not only efficient, but practical,

useful, and with pleasing light qualities and effective distribution, which

Rebate Programs Meeting Requirements

turers to build fixtures that meet rebate program requirements, but also have effective distr

bution patterns and fixture footprints to meet design needs at client sites. Metro LED is skille

Lighting Design and Engineering

Our guiding principles in designing lighting is to meet standards, such as those of the Illumi-

nating Engineering Society (IES), and to engineer a system that institutes quality light suited to

its intended purpose. We balance first costs, efficiency, and lifetime costs across all compo-

nents of client requirements. Our engineers use state of the art tools (AGI32) to simulate

lighting designs from site drawings, and help clients visualize the design results. Metro LED

works closely with the client to understand their priorities for financial return, energy savings,

and costs. By using the creativity of our lighting engineers to recommend solutions that meet

client priorities, and demonstrate results. Using advanced rendering technologies allows us to

provide a means to visualize the results. Metro LED builds full plans that include photometric

layouts, summaries of lighting calculations, fixture schedules, and visualizations. The lighting

designers of Metro LED Lighting have been recognized as leaders in implementing lighting

system, and often have advanced degrees from leading academic institutions.

Lighting System Lifecycle Economic Analysis

Our analysis examines a comprehensive set of investment measures, and total cost of owner-

ship. We factor first costs, rebates, operating and maintenance costs, to project investment

metrics such as payback, and return on investment. Included is an analysis of leasing. The

comprehensive model projects future costs based upon regional and historic trends to create

a detailed ten year total cost of ownership analysis.
