SOMETHING TO PONDER…

• In Davao City, let us say there are approximately 200,000 households.

• Of the 200,000 households, only 50,000 households have comfort rooms with an average sized toilet bowl.

• Consider that each of the 50,000 households uses the FLUSH - FIVE (5) times a day.

SOMETHING TO PONDER…

• Moreover, a single FLUSH consumes 2 liters of DAVAO’S PUREST WATER…

• LET’s DO THE MATH….• 50,000 households x 5 FLUSHES per day x 2

liters per FLUSH = 500,000 liters of DAVAO’S PUREST WATER down the drain EVERYDAY

MORE TO PONDER…

• We also use DAVAO’S PUREST WATER to…

• WASH OUR CARS…

• WATER OUR GARDENS…

AND• CLEAN OUR HOMES…

MORE TO PONDER…

• The proportion in the daily average requirement of a typical household for fully treated water is thirty five percent for drinking, cooking, bathing and washing of utensils and sixty five percent for flushing of toilets, general cleaning, washing of clothes and gardening which can be served by harvested water from the rain.

DAVAO’S RAINWATER EXPERIENCE

• “I remember in the 80s when many houses of the city had rainwater storage facilities. Our family used rainwater for washing cars and pets and watering our garden. We have long abandoned this practice because it was more expensive to repair the rainwater tank than to just use tap water for washing cars. “– Alabado: Our drinking problem
