Yr 7 students at St Bede’s Catholic College, Bristol have been writing letters to Rosena and Angel, the brother and sister from Zambia featured in our Lent materials. They have been raising money towards the water appeal to support communities like Angel and Rosena‟s.

Callum, 10, from Preston is raising money for Lent by cycling 45 miles with his dad! Callum said: ”It’s sad that there are so many children around the world who do not have clean water to drink. I knew that CAFOD’s theme this year was clean water. I like cycling and thought a sponsored bike ride was a good way of raising money and having fun at the same time.” Good luck Callum!

St Joseph’s, Hebburn created class presentations on water to share the fact that almost a billion people around the world lack access to clean safe water, and to encourage classmates to get involved with CAFOD this Lent.

Students at Sts Peter and Paul, Lincoln held a Lenten assembly with a focus on water.

They created a river of promises to show how they will take action to help – which included calling on David Cameron to turn the tide on water poverty at the G8 summit.

St Paul’s, Leicester began Lent on Ash Wednesday with Catechesis and a service using CAFOD‟s Thirst for Change campaign, calling on David Cameron to remind G8 leaders that 884 million people do not have clean water.

Students and staff at All Saints Secondary School, Mansfield held a sponsored fancy dress to raise money for CAFOD. Each form also had their own stall for the sale of cakes sweets or drinks and some forms used their stall as a base for games or a tombola. And the school community generously took part in Lent Fast Day. Altogether they raised a brilliant £2,635!

Yr 5 pupils at Corpus Christi, Wolverhampton raised £138.30 for Lent! We received some brilliant letters from pupils describing why they wanted to raise money.

Josh a Yr 11 student at St Benedict’s in Colchester, dressed in blue for a non uniform day to raise money. Great hair Josh!

Students at Newman College in Preston combined fashion with Fairtrde and water with a Thirst for Change fashion show!

Children in Our Lady of the Rosary parish in Buckely pledged what they have been giving up for CAFOD on on the parish notice board.

St Cuthbert’s, Crook, raised £295.30 for Lent and sent us lots of letters explaining how they did such a fantastic job!

Dear CAFOD At school we have raised money by making a river of silver coins from home. We have been making pictures and selling them for money to give to you as well. We have also been asking people in assembly to do it as well. We hope the money we have raised will bring happiness to the people you are helping. Matthew.

Yr 6 at St Nicholas of Tolentino, Bristol, created a money chest and filled it with £18.30 in coins for Lent! The school also raised £150 through cake sales and raffles for Make a Splash!

St Thomas More, Westcliffe, are thirsting for change, learning about water poverty and writing messages to David Cameron to take action. Check out their poem!

“Water is something we take for granted, It helps grow the food we‟ve planted. 1 in 8 people don‟t have clean water, We need to teach people, tell your friends, tell your daughter. 1.7 million deaths each year isn‟t fair, We need to take our resources and make sure we share. We need to treasure the water that comes from above, Like the Black Eyed Peas said “where is the love?” So help CAFOD raise some money and put food and water in a deprived persons tummy.”

The students of the ACTIVATE Group at St Mary’s Catholic College in Blackpool have been working hard to promote the Thirst for Change campaign, holding assemblies for the whole school to raise the issues of water poverty.

English Martyrs, Oakham pupils took part in a sponsored water carry for CAFOD. They carried water for the distance of 1 mile – that‟s 7 times around the sports field!

Pupils from four local primary schools in the Hallam diocese took part in a big water event on World Water Day at Sheffield Winter Gardens to raise awareness of the Thirst for Change campaign. Their activities attracted the public to come and sign cards to call on David Cameron to take action!

All Saints, Thirsk made a splash for CAFOD by raising £105 decorating water droplets with coins!

Cardinal Hume, Gateshead organised a CAFOD boardgame day to raise money for Lent, and have been learning about water poverty in class.

Y1 are starting a games club every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime - 50p to join! Y2 are making a big outline of a water droplet the size of a table to fill with silver coins Y3 are going to hold a Quiz Night after school for KS2 pupils! Y4 are going to hold a toy sale Y5 had the idea of an Easter egg raffle with lots of Easter eggs bought with their own money Finally, in Y6 the pupils will be washing cars and making buns!

At St Aelred’s, Middlesbrough, have been busy planning their Lent activities!

St Joseph’s, Aldershot, held a „Water challenge day‟ at school, with relays and workshops all to raise awareness of water poverty and to raise money for Lent !

Yr 9 students at Grays Convent in Brentwood are thirsting for change – and have written their messages to David Cameron asking him to turn the tide on water poverty.

St Catherine’s in West Drayton built a river of change with coins and made a beautiful display messages and prayers for water.

Christ the King, Leicester pupils made a „River of Change‟ Lenten promises display, and have been organising fun fundraising events to raise money this Lent.

Jamie from Chandler’s Ford, raised a great £19.29 for Lent by selling sweets and organising a „Draw your own Star Wars card‟ activity at school. Well done Jamie!

Loreto chaplaincy’s Justice and Peace group, Salford are raising awareness about water poverty and are fundraising through sponsored walks and H20 quizzes for Lent 2012! Check out their water pump.

Year 12 and 13 students from Cardinal Newman College’s CAFOD Group in Preston put their leadership skills into practice when they presented water workshops for Year 7 pupils at Our Lady’s Catholic High School in Preston as part of their Green Day in Lent.

Imogen is 10 and lives in Scarborough and she has been busy making cakes and cards to raise money. She has raised £700 for CAFOD, and the last £300 is for Lent and so can be matched by the government! Thanks Imogen!

St Joan Of Arc, Highbury Park pupils created water droplet messages of support, and have been fundraising this Lent for water.

Pupils from Our Lady of Peace and St Bernard’s, Slough, inspired people in their parishes with their talks about water, as part of a Speak up for CAFOD! competition in the Northampton diocese.

Jamie works in CAFOD North Wales office and he walked from Holyhead to Holywell as part of the Thirst for Change campaign. He visited 6 schools along the way, including St Mary’s in Bangor where he collected the pupils‟ water droplet messages to David Cameron.

Sacred Heart, Westminster have been learning about Rosena‟s life in Zambia and about how many children like her still don‟t have access to clean water.

Frank Alison is a CAFOD schools volunteer who visited St Augustine’s in Coventry to talk about Rosena in Zambia and how communities like hers have struggled to access safe clean water. St Augustine‟s school council have chosen CAFOD as one of their Lenten charities this year!

St Peter’s, South Bank students launched their CAFOD challenge to raise money and awareness of water poverty during Lent. They‟ll be speaking at feeder primary schools and are raising money – look at their stream of coins!

St Peter’s, Guildford took to the streets to promote the Thirst for Change campaign. Local MP Anne Milton joined the students to encourage them!

St Teresa’s, Basildon had a whole school assembly on the theme of water and learnt all about how Rosena‟s life has changed thanks to a new water pump installed near her village.

Our Lady’s and St Patrick’s, Teignmouth pupils dressed in blue, made a river of promises and carried water around the playground as part of Make a Splash this Lent!

Molly, 6, from Guildford has her very own Justgiving page and has raised an amazing £705.05 so far for carrying water bottles for more than two miles around her primary school. Well done Molly!

St Edmund Campion, Maidenhead pupils spoke at masses over Fast Day weekend on the theme of water, and the parish raised £1,425.45! Thanks to the speakers for their help in raising this!

Bishop Challoner, Basingstoke pupils have made a „river of change‟ as part of the Thirst for Change campaign, calling on David Cameron to help turn the tide on water poverty.

Oakhill College, Whally, took part in lots of fundraising for CAFOD to raise £900! Well done everyone!

St Swithum Wells, Eastleigh pupils have been getting involved with the water theme this Lent – learning, praying, writing messages to the prime minister and giving things up for water!
