parish on Monday January 18th to

discuss the work of his office, fighting

and prosecuting crime in the region

and to answer questions from local

residents. Our parish continues to

open our doors to work to make our

community a better place for all.

Lenten - Easter - Spring

Every year the cen-

ter of the Church

Liturgical Year is

focused on the

sacred events of

our salvation - our

Lord’s Passion,

Death and Resur-

rection. The jour-

ney begins on Ash

Wednesday where

we begin a season

of Penance, in-

creased prayer, devotion and

fasting. As blessed ashes are

placed upon our foreheads we

are reminded of our mortality

and that our souls belong to

God.

This year again our parish is

assisting us in our Lenten

journey with our Lenten Tool

Table: there are daily Lenten

Bible readings and daily Len-

ten Meditations. Also in our

prayer books we have the Sta-

tions of the Cross, Sorrowful

Lamentations and the

Litany of the Passion.

On Fridays during Lent

following our Lenten Sup-

pers (6 pm) Stations of

the Cross will be celebrat-

ed at 6:30 pm. A Lenten

Day of Retreat (2/27),

Lenten Penitential Service

(3/5) and Meal in the

Upper Room service

(3/13) are excellent op-

portunities to spend time

in prayer and worship com-

muning with our Lord. The

beautiful liturgies of Holy Week

give us ample opportunities to

join with our Lord in this Len-

ten Journey. May we walk

closely with our Lord this Lent.

Our parish again this year

participated in the annual

Souper Bowl of Caring on

Super Bowl Sunday - Feb-

ruary 7th. This was a won-

derful way to perform one

of the corporal works of

Mercy and feed the hun-

gry. Several cases, boxes

and bags of soup were

given to the Citizens for

Citizens food pantry in the

south end of our city.

Thanks to all who support-

ed this effort.

who prepared for, served and

supported this breakfast. A few

hundred dollars were raised

for the benefit of our parish

scholarship fund.
